We had probably one of the worst experiences at Spasso. Before our bottoms even hit the chairs, the table next to us requested to move. I don’t know if they thought we would be disruptive, or what the situation was, but it was SO rude. We were quiet, polite, and minded our own business. Because of this situation, our server was SO rude as well. It felt as though we were being judged before our experience even started. She was short and snippy with us, and would frequently walk over to the table that moved, and point and glare at us. We felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome. We were stuffed in a back corner with nobody else even seated around us. How embarrassing. We were a group of 7 young women, dressed nicely, trying to enjoy a meal. We were in and out in less than an hour. I would not ever recommend going back to Spasso unless you’re 50+, and extremely uptight and judgemental. I have never had a more uncomfortable experience at a restaurant. Food was good, drinks were okay, but the service and experience was truly unfortunate.
Food was much better then the previous time we were here the staff and service has always and remains fantastic.
Excellent food. Best spaghetti. Love the meatball. Mushroom Chicken Risotto got a hmm, good compliment from my husband. Have had two lunches at Spasso, this was our first dinner. Very good.
Great service, lively atmosphere.
Always a wonderful experience here! Food is great, and atmosphere is perfect. Love that you can buy wine next door and bring it in without a corking fee.
We were incredibly impressed with the vegetarian lasagna -- unlike any other and delicious!
Lasagne was impressive, so many salads to choose from!
Will definatly go back.
Food & service was great. Love the fact you can purchase a bottle of wine from Wine Shop next door & bring to restaurant for no corkage fee. Ian in the Wine Shop was very knowledgable!
Good consistent food and fun atmosphere.
The service was good. We were seated right away and our server greeted us in a reasonable amount of time. She was friendly and knowledgeable. We had the Rosa pasta and lasagna. The Rosa pasta was bland in my opinion, and they really went overboard on the peas. The lasagna was good - no complaints.
We had dinner with the kids - it was a great experience
The food was delicious, plentiful and came hot which I like when I order pasta. There were several large groups in the restaurant and it was very busy. I would recommend coming a little later on a Saturday night if you want a quieter, less family oriented atmosphere. Kids were running around the table next to us and I can’t complain because we have those family occasions too. I would have liked a table off to the side or even one of the few booths in the restaurant, but we took the first table offered because we didn’t feel like waiting. We were quickly brought fresh bread which seems to have really improved since our last visit. Still love the idea of buying a bottle next door and having someone serve it to us with no corkage fee. We liked the rose we bought so much, we went back to the wine store after dinner and brought two bottles back home. We changed a few ingredients in our pasta dishes and were happily accommodated by the chef. Every dish is made to order and we greatly appreciated the attention to our needs. This is definitely our neighborhood go to place and also appreciated the warm, caring greeting from the hostess.
Food was good. Somewhat disappointed in that I had made a reservation 2 weeks in advance, and we ended up at a high top towards the back of the restaurant on the way to the bathroom. Dessert was really good (flourless chocolate cake and gelato). Server could have been a bit more attentive, but then, it was also Minnetonka HS dance and there were tons of high school kids in there.
It was probably our 5th time at Spasso for dinner which was amazing. We had made reservations for two of us in advance. My only complaint was that we were put near the bathrooms and an emergency exit.....which was a tad chilly and not that romantic. Our service was excellent and food was great as always.
Really great ambiance, food and service. Warm and inviting, this is a great place to have a nice meal and good conversation. Interesting menu choices and something for everyone.
Food was terrific. Fried Cauliflower was amazing. Buy a bottle of wine at the wine shop next door - great value.
I asked for my noodles to be cooked soft ( longer) they were not.
Thought the menu and food was just average. For Italian food/restaurant a better value and menu at olive garden.
The restaurant wasn't crowded when we arrived at 9. It took about 10 minutes before the waiter appeared. Ordered drinks and a appetizer. 10 minutes later both arrived. Ordered dinner and it arrived in 4 minutes. Really? Not going back for the food which was very average. The bar looked like fun.
We were greeted by an extremely rude hostess who proceeded to be rude throughout our dining experience. If not for the excellent server, we would never return. We have been regulars since Spasso opened and that was nearly our final visit because of her attitude and behavior toward us, which was completely unwarranted. Five stars because of the server and food. Zero stars for the hostess.
Food was absolutely delicious! Fun atmosphere, very lively. Server was good but not outstanding. Will definitely be back!
Our server, Mack, was very good. He was personable and knew the menu well. Loved our food and we all got dessert - creme brule, so good! We enjoy having a great restaurant so close by.
Palenta Fries were very good. Pizzas were distinctive and tasty. I had good old fillet steak: well prepared with nice gorgonzola crust. What is really nice is that the wineshop next door is also owned by Spassos so you can go select from a far larger selection than you see on a normal menu and bring into the restaurant for no extra corkage fee.
What a neighborhood delight! Our reservation was honored and my special request for a booth was fulfilled. The menu is varied, something for everyone, even those who do not like Italian or are watching their calories! I enjoyed the chicken Parmesan , it was the best I have had! Huge portion and I asked for arrabiata to add some spice and it came just right! We love the idea of a bottle of wine bought next door and uncorked with no service charge at our table! Delightful waiter who was very helpful and prompt. If I could make any suggestion, it would be to serve some heartier bread although we had a pleasant enough few
Slices. Spasso has a ton of free parking, is very clean and a wonderful night out. I could go here every weekend and pick up during the week!
Good food and nice ambience. Spaghetti and lasagna were both delicious.
We had a great dining experience at Spasso. First of our our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. We started with Woodford Reserve Manhattens and wine and enjoyed Gnocchi, chicken Marsala, bolonaise and a fig, proccuito & Gorgonzola pizza. Everyone raved about their meals and we had yummy gelato for dessert. It was a wonderful birthday celebration and a great place to enjoy delicious food. Thank you!
Great time! Only negative is we weren’t offered desert.
We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation, and we were told it would be 20-30 minutes before our table would be available. We agreed to sit at the bar and wait. The host said he would let us know when it was available, but after seeing others seated around us who did not make reservations, we chose to order at the bar. No one ever came to let us know that a table was available for us and we were there for almost two hours. It seems that once we decided to wait in the bar they simply forgot about us. Our service at the bar was good and the lobster risotto was delicious.
We had a reservation but were told we would still have to wait 25 minutes to be seated. Maybe figure out what a reservation means before offering them. Dat at the pizza bar instead and it was actually kinda nice looking into the pizza oven.
Lasagna was salty and lukewarm and pizza was under whelming. Side salads don’t exist, you’d have to order a full size dinner salad. Sat with an empty dunk for a while. Vanilla gelato was delicious. Not terrible overall, but we won’t be back.
First time being at Spasso and I couldn’t have been happier. I have been to Italy and this has been the closest thing I have ate that has tasted authentic. Love that the sauces are made to order and it really shows.
Would definitely recommend to anyone!
We’ve dined here many times & been extremely happy with the food. It was New Years Eve but we found a couple of dishes were not up to par. Our friend ordered prime rib that was tough & inedible. Spasso responded correctly by removing it from his bill but would have preferred better food.
One improvement would be to provide WiFi like most every other restaurant.
New Year’s Eve dinner!
The food was very good and has been consistently good the times we have been to the restaurant. However, I made reservations for 4 and we sat for 25 minutes waiting for our friends. Unfortuately, the hostess never brought them to our table but sat them at their own table even though we told them who we were and who we were waiting for. We had our drinks and told the waiter we wanted separate checks, but of course we moved to sit with them. It was a mess and a waste of time.
Overpriced and mediocre food. The marinara sauce was way too sweet and vinegary. The other flavors were too subtle and made everything very bland. Combined with mediocre service, the whole experience was disappointing.
We were the last customers there and oblivious. They never rushed us.
Special event reserved a high top table. Had to wait 10 min after reservation time and was sat at a low top table that was practically in the restrooms. Server was awesome though. But I would not go back because it was way too loud couldn’t have a conversation without straining
We decided to dine here to celebrate 2 wedding anniversaries. My husband & I have tried this restaurant for lunch a couple of times before and we thought we’d come back for dinner.
They did not disappoint. The table was ready, as requested. Our server, Spencer was friendly and attentive. The meals were great especially the pan seared scallops.
We plan to go back for their prime rib weekend special.
We have ordered our entrees and salads in the past, but this time they were not as good. The vegetable lasagne did not seem to have any pasta-only vegetables. The caprese salad special was better last week. The service was still good, but it took quite awhile for the bread to arrive-we we’re finished with our glasses of wine and the entrees followed almost immediately. The Thin Mint gelato is still delicious!
Great food, lobster/risotto, mussels, seafood pasta, chicken mushroom cream sauce. Wine selection from the liquor outstanding. Booze from bar big pour and good value. Great place good times!!
