Ive been going to SPASSO for almost 15 years and it has always been an awesome experience. The food is delicious, always fresh and I would recommend it for couples, friends, special occasions and family get together! ❤️❤️❤️
Stopped in for an early dinner and the whole experience was great. The food was authentic Italian with homemade pasta. Delicious! The wait staff was attentive and the experience was perfect.
We made a last-minute reservation based upon the prior Open Table recommendations and because we were staying nearby. Big mistake. We ordered drinks, then dinner and our dinner came out before the drinks. We were asked if anyone gave us bread. No, but that didn't mean anyone brought it out. The icing on the cake came with dessert, when we ordered a shot a Baileys and a shot of Jamison for coffee. $10/shot for a coffee! Yes, they charged $24.00 for essentially an Irish coffee in a restaurant with no style or ambiance. Unless you are starving and nothing else is open - skip this. There are too many other great options in the neighborhood.
Very crowded as our seating was at 715, Sat March 3, 2018. Had reservations no wait. Waiter was no as attentative we would have liked as it was my parents 60th anniversary celebration. He did apologize at 1 point.
Food is excellent on the most part, except for my veal parmigiana. It seemed as though it was a cheaper cutlet patty and deep fried. Also, I did note on Open Table that it was my parents special anniversary to Please make them feel like a million bucks - no mention was made by staff. Otherwise, everything was excellent!
Comfortable place despite it being a bit noisy ("lively") and crowded. But the food was excellent! Best caesar salad (and even very large) I have had in a long time. Escargot were prepared with spinach and sundried tomatoes different from the usual scampi style--so many and delicious. Classic Southern Italian food. Excellent service. Portions are huge. Reasonably priced. Lots of people carrying doggie bags. Don't live in Philadelphia but would recommend to anyone who lives there or is visiting the city.
Enjoyed the food, service and admosphere
The waiter was incredibly rude and had an attitude when asked for simple things like a side of olive oil. He spent the majority of his time waiting on a table of young girls taking pictures of themselves the entire meal. They also included a gratuity tip on top of the tip left in cash. When contacted the restaurants hostess put me on the phone with this very waiter and he claimed he didn’t know what i was talking about. Total scam, they also sat my party of 5 in a side booth, we were all cramped, so loud you couldn’t carry a conversation. I’m beyond disappointed with this restaurant and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. there are plenty of other reasonably priced Italian places to go and now have this headache.
Best grilled calamari
Friday night special of pasta with scallops is outstanding
Caesar salad was so fresh and delicious
Love the marinated veggies to put on bread in beginning of meal
The location of the restaurant is terrific in that paid parking is never an issue so ... you don't arrive in an agitated state 😀. The service is always gracious, friendly and efficient. They are always willing to make the dishes however you'd like them and everything tastes wonderful. My only disappointment this time was the price. The meal for 5 of us, with tip, was over $400. Yes, we each had 1-2 glasses wine and shared a large appetizer but ... It seemed that the prices had increased rather dramatically since we had been there one month earlier.
My wife ordered seafood with pasta, I had gnocchi with broccoli rabe.
My wife complained that her meal left a bad taste in her mouth - she nibbled, but ate litte. My gnocchi was very good - I couldn't finish it, and took the rest home with me - but the broccoli rabe was overcooked and tasteless. I took a few bites and left it.
I wish I had asked for my money back for my wife's meal and my side dish. We arrived at 9:30p, after a movie; I had the distinct feeling they were serving us the dregs.
Our meal and drinks were delicious and our waiter was excellent. We were not happy with the hostess seating us.
First time visiting and we would definitely go back. Meal was great as well as the service.
Excellent for a Valentine's Day destination. The calamari was excellent and the cannoli dessert is incredibly delicious
Excellent service for a Valentine's Day evening. Our server was attentive, careful, and engaging. He managed to be both unobtrusive and constantly present, which was great. The meal, as usual, was well-crafted and hot when it arrived. I'm a huge fan of Spasso's mix of peppers, the careful seasoning, and the quality of bread (two servings was more than an appropriate appetizer in advance of our meal). My spinach ravioli was incredible. Great overall experience.
First time there and everything went great the food was very very good
Food was very good, and the team was quite polite!
The food at Spasso is extremely good. They are unable to accommodate separate checks for business people.
Food was amazing... I had the fried calamari as my appetizer very good. salmon for entree awesome dish!!!
Spasso is a classic, well-established neighborhood eatery. There is no need for pretense and no need to hype some trendy new food preparation technique. The menu is anchored by homemade pastas whose freshness comes through the simple, authentic and flavorful sauces. Whole fish are perfectly prepared as is all the seafood. The veal is fresh. The wine list is not enormous but there are a good cross-section of vintages listed. The price points for most bottles are fair and moderately priced. There are a few more expensive reserve wines. We are not huge fans of the desserts offered at typical Italian restaurants in America but the tartufo at Spasso is spot on. Service is friendly and attentive.
A wonderful place for lunch! There was a large menu, great food with large portions and reasonable prices. Service was attentive.
Birthday. Great food and they even had a candle for our dessert and sang!
This is our 3rd time having dinner. It was great as always. Service was great.
Spasso NEVER disappoints! We usually dine at the Media location and this was our first time at the Philadelphia location. We brought some family from out of town and some family that just moved to the area. Everyone's food was delicious and the family that just moved here said they would love to try the special dinners on Tuesday nights! Highly recommend to anyone!
The restaurant itself is very small. The tables are close and the noise level is high. The servers weren’t overly friendly or helpful, they pretty much did their jobs without exchanging pleasantries.
I ordered chicken parmigiana which was so deep fried it was crunchy. It also had a lot of fat. It came with a side of spaghetti and not much tomato sauce. I had to ask for extra.
My husband ordered a special which was pasta with scallops and crab meat in a blush sauce. His was very good. They served bread on the table with a small plate of some kind of roasted peppers or something similar. No one explain to us what that was but it was tasty.
The meal was ok but I wouldn’t rush back there.
Really good food for a reasonable price. Six o’clock seating is perfect before the restaurant gets crowded. Also, a good spot to meet friends in the bar for a few drinks.
I had reservations as spasso for restaurant week. They were the only restaurant that didn’t have fixed menu, you could choose anything on the menu except for specials and the portions were full not half as I expected. The food was phenomenal. Wonderful experience!
We didn’t realize it was Center City District’s Restaurant Week. Spasso was filled with patrons who clearly rarely leave their houses. Next time we’ll be sure to visit on a typical week. Great food, as always.
The food was wonderful , service was top notch .
Each time we eat there, we enjoy it. The hostess is great at accommodating everyone. The serve staff is wonderful. And best of all, the food is terrific.
Love this place! I have been to the Philadelphia and Media location and I must say both are great. I have literally never had a bad meal - even on the busiest of nights.
We sat in the main dining room- it was restaurant week so it was busy. Food and service were great! Portions were large so we all took home leftovers:) we’ll be back!
Great restaurant week menu. Choose anything off the menu and they even add a 4th pasta course. Great size portions and many choices. Lots of meter parking if you get there early. Definitely going back.
Always great food and service and a great value
The food was amazing. The service was good. It was a bit noisy but that was because it was so crowded. But, overall had a great time.
The food was amazing, the portions were great. Overall I loved the experience.
Entrees of veal were bland and over cooked. Calamari appetizer was decent.
The service we received from Spasso was not good. We spent two hours for dinner. The waiter never asked to refill our drinks. Our pasta was not fully cooked. Customers who came in after me and my party were served before my party.
First visit at Spasso. Very amazing meal!! Service was excellent. Noise level was a little too much. Definitely not a place to go to have sincere conversations.
