Spasso Italian Grill - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
Second visit in a few weeks. The first visit was a crowded night - excellent food, excellent service. Decided to return for our daughter's birthday on Friday 1/5. The only positives were the server and gentleman busing the table. Rest of serving / hostess staff not so friendly and food was not prepared well. My only guess is quality slips due to lack of oversight / management during off-times / on off-nights.
Was in Phlliy for business and was looking for a great Italian place to dine with a friend from out of town near Penn's Landing. Spasso's was perfect. Close to the Holiday Inn where he was staying and so we walked even though it was cold.
The service and food was excellent. Had the chicken parmesan and the linguine bolognese - yes the menu says gnocci but I like it traditional. All their pastas are homemade. It was delicious.
Will come again and recommend it highly.
This was the first visit for my daughter and me. We came for Christmas Eve dinner. Everything was quite nice. My daughter loved both the Caesar and crab ravioli, plus the chocolate mousse pie. My 7 fishes meal was ridiculously HUGE! Every part of the servings were way too large for one person, but so inexpensive. We'll definitely recommend it and be back. Thank you!
We went to Spasso's for Christmas Eve dinner and I had the Seven Fishes. It was just ok. The clams and mussels were dry and not that hot. The salad was horrible. The dressing was just ok, I believe it was just olive oil. The lettuce was maybe iceburg tasteless and so was the shrimp. I chose the Branzino which was good. All and all for the price I think it could have been better. My family did enjoy their meals.
They have the most amazing Chocolate mouse cake for dessert. I’ve ordered It twice now and it’s fantastic. The first time I went to Spasso, we ordered the grilled shrimp and penne Spasso. Both PHENOMINAL dishes. Their shrimp is insanely good. Second time I got the gnocchi asparagi and it was just okay and barely had truffle oil in it. That aside, the restaurant is very satisfying and I’d definiteltly recommend. Be prepared to over eat!!!!
Great food , service good value arrived table was ready our waiter was excellent. Wine was desirable as we're the succulent appetizers. As we ate our entrees the flavor of the blush gravy made me feel like I was lunching on my Tuscan patio overlooking my olive oil plantation. Truly exceptional.
Dinner was very good. Been to Spasso 3 times and never was disappointed. The wait staff , (Sam) was a very good server. Available when needed. The food at Spasso is very consistent. The Escargot was perfectly done. We had 8 people for dinner and no one was disappointed. Would recommend Spasso to all my friends.
Spasso is our go-to restaurant in our neighborhood. We entertained a relative from London who loved her choice of broccoli rab with sausage. It came with roasted potatoes and fresh zucchini and carrots. The Multepulciano red wine we chose was delicious. . We went back another night that week and had the same wine and more great meals.
This was an after show dinner. I must say that we have dined here many times, and this is the first time we have had a meal that wasn’t the best. I had veal and it was very good, my wife had the Bronzino. The fish was fishy tasting, usually it should have a sweet taste. I tasted the fish and I also thought it was fishy tasting.
Will I return to Spasso? Yes, but we will not order fish.
