Meal was good. Service polite and attentive. Dining room needs updating but still fine for a casual meal. Tiramisu was really good. Don’t order grilled calamari. DO order fried calamari w shrimp. Go for it. Good old fashioned Italian w an updated twist.
My food was great and our waiter was very polite and attentive. Definitely would recommend for a date if you’re okay with paying around $20 a plate.
Had a great dinner with friends before going to the theatre. Food was awesome and service was wonderful.
My family and friends LOVE this restaurant. The food is always FABULOUS, the service is great and the staff is the best!! Treat yourself. You'll definitely go back.
Great food and service from Nick. Most enjoyable.
This was an entirely unexpected gem. Unusual but absolutely delicious dishes. Apetizers, dinners and deserts were all exceptional.
We had a wonderful meal. The waiter explained different menu items. They were extremely flexible with menu requests from our picky eater. We look forward to returning.
Excellent meal as always....our favorite restaurant that we return to whenever we make a Philadelphia visit.
Food was delicious, service was excellent. This is a nice restaurant if you want delicious Italian food. We were able to enjoy the evening, weren't rushed, had great service. Would definitely eat there again.
The ravioli and chicken parmigiana were both delicious.
Spasso is our go to spot when we need it done right. Service is attentive but not intrusive. Love it.
Been going here for years. Best bang for your buck in the city. Love the bar area and the dining area.
Always great food and service. I don't understand the noise level was to high. I presume it was were our table was located.
Food was OK. I was expecting better. Escargot is served on a plate with tomatoes, and I was expecting in a baking dish with butter and garlic. Seafood was a little tough.
The Happy hour is a good way to start your visit. Friendly Barmaid and good atmosphere.
The dinner in the dining room was delicious and the service was top notch. Not our first visit and will not be our last.
Great Italian food!
Drinks and waiter were good, food was average, wait for entree was terrible...hour at least between salad and meal. Had to ask for check as entree was brought out to get to show that was 2.5hrs after reservation.
Always great, especially before theatre as they get you in and out at a moderate pace, yet you do not feel rushed. Plenty of smiles and friendliness from the staff along with good food.
Always great service and fabulous food.
I have an intolerance for garlic and onion. This is one of the rare Italian restaurants that goes out of its way to accommodate my needs. They will cook anything that you desire, regardless of whether or not your request is featured on the menu. How wonderful is that?!!!
Ive been going to SPASSO for almost 15 years and it has always been an awesome experience. The food is delicious, always fresh and I would recommend it for couples, friends, special occasions and family get together! ❤️❤️❤️
Stopped in for an early dinner and the whole experience was great. The food was authentic Italian with homemade pasta. Delicious! The wait staff was attentive and the experience was perfect.
We made a last-minute reservation based upon the prior Open Table recommendations and because we were staying nearby. Big mistake. We ordered drinks, then dinner and our dinner came out before the drinks. We were asked if anyone gave us bread. No, but that didn't mean anyone brought it out. The icing on the cake came with dessert, when we ordered a shot a Baileys and a shot of Jamison for coffee. $10/shot for a coffee! Yes, they charged $24.00 for essentially an Irish coffee in a restaurant with no style or ambiance. Unless you are starving and nothing else is open - skip this. There are too many other great options in the neighborhood.
Very crowded as our seating was at 715, Sat March 3, 2018. Had reservations no wait. Waiter was no as attentative we would have liked as it was my parents 60th anniversary celebration. He did apologize at 1 point.
Food is excellent on the most part, except for my veal parmigiana. It seemed as though it was a cheaper cutlet patty and deep fried. Also, I did note on Open Table that it was my parents special anniversary to Please make them feel like a million bucks - no mention was made by staff. Otherwise, everything was excellent!
Comfortable place despite it being a bit noisy ("lively") and crowded. But the food was excellent! Best caesar salad (and even very large) I have had in a long time. Escargot were prepared with spinach and sundried tomatoes different from the usual scampi style--so many and delicious. Classic Southern Italian food. Excellent service. Portions are huge. Reasonably priced. Lots of people carrying doggie bags. Don't live in Philadelphia but would recommend to anyone who lives there or is visiting the city.
Enjoyed the food, service and admosphere
The waiter was incredibly rude and had an attitude when asked for simple things like a side of olive oil. He spent the majority of his time waiting on a table of young girls taking pictures of themselves the entire meal. They also included a gratuity tip on top of the tip left in cash. When contacted the restaurants hostess put me on the phone with this very waiter and he claimed he didn’t know what i was talking about. Total scam, they also sat my party of 5 in a side booth, we were all cramped, so loud you couldn’t carry a conversation. I’m beyond disappointed with this restaurant and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. there are plenty of other reasonably priced Italian places to go and now have this headache.
Best grilled calamari
Friday night special of pasta with scallops is outstanding
Caesar salad was so fresh and delicious
Love the marinated veggies to put on bread in beginning of meal
The location of the restaurant is terrific in that paid parking is never an issue so ... you don't arrive in an agitated state 😀. The service is always gracious, friendly and efficient. They are always willing to make the dishes however you'd like them and everything tastes wonderful. My only disappointment this time was the price. The meal for 5 of us, with tip, was over $400. Yes, we each had 1-2 glasses wine and shared a large appetizer but ... It seemed that the prices had increased rather dramatically since we had been there one month earlier.
My wife ordered seafood with pasta, I had gnocchi with broccoli rabe.
My wife complained that her meal left a bad taste in her mouth - she nibbled, but ate litte. My gnocchi was very good - I couldn't finish it, and took the rest home with me - but the broccoli rabe was overcooked and tasteless. I took a few bites and left it.
I wish I had asked for my money back for my wife's meal and my side dish. We arrived at 9:30p, after a movie; I had the distinct feeling they were serving us the dregs.
Our meal and drinks were delicious and our waiter was excellent. We were not happy with the hostess seating us.
First time visiting and we would definitely go back. Meal was great as well as the service.
Excellent for a Valentine's Day destination. The calamari was excellent and the cannoli dessert is incredibly delicious
Excellent service for a Valentine's Day evening. Our server was attentive, careful, and engaging. He managed to be both unobtrusive and constantly present, which was great. The meal, as usual, was well-crafted and hot when it arrived. I'm a huge fan of Spasso's mix of peppers, the careful seasoning, and the quality of bread (two servings was more than an appropriate appetizer in advance of our meal). My spinach ravioli was incredible. Great overall experience.
First time there and everything went great the food was very very good
Food was very good, and the team was quite polite!
The food at Spasso is extremely good. They are unable to accommodate separate checks for business people.
Food was amazing... I had the fried calamari as my appetizer very good. salmon for entree awesome dish!!!
Spasso is a classic, well-established neighborhood eatery. There is no need for pretense and no need to hype some trendy new food preparation technique. The menu is anchored by homemade pastas whose freshness comes through the simple, authentic and flavorful sauces. Whole fish are perfectly prepared as is all the seafood. The veal is fresh. The wine list is not enormous but there are a good cross-section of vintages listed. The price points for most bottles are fair and moderately priced. There are a few more expensive reserve wines. We are not huge fans of the desserts offered at typical Italian restaurants in America but the tartufo at Spasso is spot on. Service is friendly and attentive.
A wonderful place for lunch! There was a large menu, great food with large portions and reasonable prices. Service was attentive.
