Spasso Italian Grill - Philadelphia
We have enjoyed going to Spasso for many years. The food is delicious, always fresh and healthy. The wait staff, bartenders, and hostess are always on top of things. They are all knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. The drinks are perfect!! It’s an all ‘round great experience. We feel at home at Spasso. And we will continue to go there forever!!
Delicious food and excellent service. Ambiance was great too for a restaurant in the city.
First class Italian amazing gravy u will have the best meal for a reasonable price
Took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. Ty, our waited, was wonderful, the food was great and the restaurant was in a perfect location for us to get to a show at the Arden. Will be back for Happy Hour!
Everything was wonderful!!
The service was excellent, as was the polenta served with, (unfortunately) cold bread. Delivery of each course was timed perfectly, and the Caesar salad was very good. My main dish was only okay. My shrimp with pesto linguine has little flavor and the shrimp were the tiny frozen kind. The asparagus gnocchi was good. Crab cakes were very good, and tiramisu for dessert was reliable. Three families with small children/infants early on a Friday night. Decent casual fare. Parking across the street is metered (but hard to see the signs or the meter!) and many cars had tickets when we left.
Spasso is my go to place for authentic Italian cooking
never a disappointment.
Two of us dined for the Tues night special and we ordered
2 different appetizers, 2 different entrees, and 2 different
desserts.....shared it all....delicioso!
Food was fantastic!
Great service, food was excellent, looking forward to our next trip to Spasso.
Celebrated our 34th Anniversary. Had a 7:45pm reservation & arrived around 7:00pm. Lots of empty tables were visible in the dining room when we arrived. Hostess asked us to wait in the bar because she “didn’t have a table”. We waited in the bar until after 8:00pm & finally asked about our table. Finally seated at 8:15pm. Our meals weren’t served to us until 9:00pm. It was more than a disappointing way of celebrating our Anniversary.
Cocktails were a little weak. I suspect it was because we were using a gift certificate. Main dishes were both great. Our server was polite and helpful. Big letdown was the condition of the restroom. Overall, it was a good night out and would go back to spend my own money there.
Food was great, waiter was attentive and atmosphere was awesome. The only thing was the hostess did say goodbye as we were leaving. She was alone and noy helping anyone, I know its petty but that was the only issue.
Everything was great!
Fantastic food and service. Everything prepared perfectly, timing was great and the staff was very attentive.
Awesome Restaurant, Great Food, Good Service, Fine Dining in a Non-Stuffy, relaxed setting. Fresh Pasta Made from Scratch! My daughters had the Short Rib Bolognese....To Die For!! Will be back!!!
We had a reservation and we were promptly seated. Service was great and food was delicious.
Exceptional food and service. To start, complimentary roasted vegetables were a delight. Chicken parm, crab ravioli and short rib parpadelle outstanding.
Great spot. Excellent selection of wines as well as dishes. Good value & overall quality experience. One of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia.
Nice conveniently located in Old City Philadelphia
Good Italian food - good service
I wouldn't hesitate to return and would definitely recommend to a friend
Always have a great meal & good service at Spasso , either Front Street or State street in Media,.
This was our first visit to Spasso. It's a classic Italian restaurant. The food was very good, but I wish the spacing had been better. We were there less than an hour for a dinner that included salads and entrees. I really felt like we were not given the opportunity to linger. I admit that I am more accustomed to the leisurely pace of European restaurants, but this was a Wednesday night & it certainly wasn't crowded & like they wanted to turn the table over fast.
Food was great! Service was great!! Drinks was fantastic!!! Happy Customer 😊
Spent the weekend in Philly and wanted Italian. This place had good reviews on Yelp so decided to try it. Excellent Eggplant Parm, and the pasta and sauce was fantastic!
We've been to Spasso many times; this past weekend was a bit less enjoyable than usual. Food was, as always, very good but the kitchen was extremely slow and our server seemed disinterested, at best. It took well over an hour for our entrees to arrive. It was also very noisy; a busy Saturday, no doubt, but the noise level was well above what we're used to experiencing at this restaurant. Probably just a tough night; we'll go back but had this been our first time at Spasso, we would probably not return.
Best Ny Strip I've ever had
We came here for restaurant week, excited to try a new Italian place in the city. Our reservations were on Friday, 1/24, at 8:00 pm. We arrived and were seated promptly. We ordered drinks first, then 2 appetizers, then 2 entrees. Drinks and bread came out quickly. However, that is where our dinner took a turn. Time passed, and eventually our waiter came to ask us how the appetizers were. “We didn’t get them yet,” we told him. It was 9:00 before our appetizers came out. At that point, I was pretty full from 2 baskets of bread, but happily had my fill of something more substantial (we got calamari and bruschetta- both tasty). After our apps, we waited for our entrees. And waited. And waited. And waited some more, as several couples came in and sat at tables around us, had their full meals, and were ready to go before our entrees even came out. Finally, about 10:00, our pasta course came out. At this point, I was hardly hungry for dinner anymore. Our waiter did kindly comp us 2 more drinks for our wait. Finally, about 10:30, our meals came out. I did not even eat mine- I just asked the waiter to wrap it to go, because by that time, I was just ready to leave. We did get dessert, but had to wait quite some time before the dessert menu came out, and then before the actual desserts came out (but, since the cost was included in the restaurant week price, we didn’t want to not get it). Overall, I had been so excited to try a new Italian place in the city and had read many good reviews, but was seriously disappointed. The food was good, our waiter was pleasant and apologetic, but the service was truly unlike anything I’ve ever before experienced. I felt more of our bill should’ve been comped, as it was not worth the final hefty price tag (sitting for 3 hours, you order a lot of drinks..). Unfortunately, I would not recommend to a friend and probably will never return.
It was my husband’s birthday and while I let them know, they didn’t oblige :(
The service and food were excellent! The house red was delicious!
Service was great and the food was delicious. We enjoyed it very much, mussels, escargot, pasta, veal w/spinach and crabmeat, cheesecake, and cream brulee, all was delicious and generous portions.
Went there last night to celebrate my daughter’s 13th Birthday. The food was subpar. We had to return the Gamberetti as the shrimp was not deveined. I ordered the grilled salmon and everything including my salmon looked sad and dry. Although we acknowledged that we went during restaurant week, the wait in between courses was very long. We had 7pm reservations and we didn’t leave there until after 10pm. Our waiter seemed to have had way more tables than he could handle. I ordered a Sangria that was lackluster to say the least. Not to mention I had the pleasure of sharing my sangria with a fly that I found in my drink. It’s unfortunate because I really wanted to like this restaurant. I love homemade Italian food but they failed to meet my expectations last night. I will not be back nor will I ever recommend this restaurant.
Everything on the extensive menu was available at the Restaurant Week price.
Delicious food. Attentive staff! Great service! Loved it.
Food was outstanding, service was just ok, Had to ask for Bread, Oil, Pepper. Went for restaurant week which we liked because you could pick off the regular menu. Had the Veal Satimbucca. It was very good but only two pieces. Would go back.
Food was good, but my mushrooms had a lot of dirt in them? If not dirt, then something that made them crunchy in the worst way. The same with my mussels. But overall, a good meal.
It was basic food done well. It was nice that the entire menu was open for Restaurant Week plus you get a course of pasta and red sauce. The atmosphere was ok but it was very noisy. Plus, I asked for birthday dessert and did not get it.
we went for restaurant week & glad we did. I am 36 weeks pregnant and just wanted a good Italian meal. I got the meatballs for apps, the chicken parm for dinner and cheesecake for dessert. I left very FULL and happy. The homemade sauce was very good. I would recommend this place if you want a good Italian meal.
Always great! The management and staff are very accommodating! Always a fantastic meal! I highly recommend Spasso!
Haven’t been here for a while and still as great as ever. Had the eggplant parmigiana and my colleagues had the veal parmigiana. Absolutely delicious!
Amazing quality food and service for the price you will leave full and happy!
The food was delicious. All of the staff were friendly. We were not rushed. Would go back again.
Food was unbelievably good. Service impeccable and setting superb ! Will definitely return
