Sparks Steak House Ratings and Reviews
As much as it pains me to write this I will. This is one of my favorite steak houses in the United States. I have been here many times.
The service was deplorable and the food was less than good. It was just ok. And the server could care less about our meal and our questions about the menu. And then he tells us he has been working at sparks for 22 years and could not tell us what type of lobster tail came with the lobster and shrimp plate.
I love this place. The history and the food used to be second to none. I will not be returning.
Had the sirloin, wife had the fillet. Both were fantastic, but the filet was amazing, sirloin was a bit on the salty side but still good. Sides of cream spinach and hash brown potatoes both fantastic. Wine list expensive, as to be expected at a nicer steakhouse, but a great selection. Service was fantastic, very attentive.
Food was fantastic but there was a distinct lack of interest from the person waiting our table. He almost frisbeed side plates to us. He walked around the table with a handful of cutlery dropping a set in front of each person. Spoilt the night which obviously cost a lot of money. We chose Sparks as our experience for a NY steakhouse. Once again, the food was fantastic but the kitchen staff are being let down the some of the people out front. Staff seemed to be bickering so not sure if it is a cultural issue at the restaurant.
A friend took me out for my pre-birthday dinner Friday Dec 29th 2017. My first time at Sparks. My friend (male) opens the 1st front door me. While 2 doormen do nothing. The 2nd door. They both do nothing again. Then one tells me. " woo you are big and tall woman you can open the door for yourself ". I and my friend were shocked then my friend (male) opens the 2nd door for me. The same doorman tells my friend loud enough for me to her while he laughs. " I guess she doesn't have a sense of humor."
Btw I'm a 6ft lady that's a size 4 not some giant monster.
Getting insulted before my pre birthday dinner. That's what I will remember most about this restaurant.
Also I had some of my food to go- was missing my spinach salad, shrimp scampi, baked clams and red wine reduction sauce.
What a pre-birthday dinner. At least our server was great.
I love Sparks and the food is delicious! However, this visit was slightly tarnished when we were left to wait over 30 mins past our reservation time and the host at the front was less than pleasant to us about it. He could have cared less that we were waiting well past our reservation time and said he would rather we wait than rush a table that had already paid the bill. Lucky for us, another host came over and took much better care of us and got us seated.
Food and portions unbelievable and great tasting!!! Portions way too much for someone with a smaller belly or watching calorie intake. Visiting, no refrig in our hotel. Wine on the high side even to begin with in the bottle. Would definitely return however :-)
I was there for our family annual holiday meal, and as usual, it did not disappoint. My daughter fell in love with the "Lump crab meat appetizer" and couldn't get enough of it. The had a delicious fillet mignon cooked to perfection. MY wife and I decided to share a 5 Lbs lobster stuffed with crabmeat. I had doubts about it thinking such a large lobster would have harden their meat, but boy was I wrong. It turned out to be the "best lobster we have ever had". Cooked to perfection and served just ready to eat, as their shells had been removed tableside before they served it to us. It was magical and we loved. R Ravelo
Our server was Mo. the food was exceptional but our server is what made our experience amazing. He was prompt, personable, professional and accommodating. There was a table next to us and Mo was also their server and they were extremely rude to him. He took it with stride. They went out of their way to be loud and demeaning to him but he promptly took care of their issue. We would come again and as much as we would want to try something else, the sliced steak was just too good.
Food was excellent. We did have to send back my son's filet since he asked for medium and it was definitely medium rare. It was busy and the waiter was not overly attentive. We had to ask several times for our water glasses to be filled. Otherwise it was a great dining experience. The beef is always excellent. The prices are high, especially for the a la carte vegetables. We will go back.
I was very disappointed in this restaurant. Felt like I was at Disneyland cattle call. Portions are huge, but my medallions in sauce was not very good at all. I wished the server told us it was huge portions and I would have ordered 1 steak and 1 lobster to share. Much better steaks in my opinion out there. Way too loud on a Tuesday night at 7:00.
Asparagus was undercooked and flavorless
Hash brown was dry, almost as if it was under a heat lamp for some time
Filet mignon was ordered medium rare. The outsides of the steak were well done and dry the very center was medium rare and it set up a scenario that only about 1/3 of the steak was what I asked for, 1/3 was over cooked and 1/3 was inedible.
Thick lamb chops were perfect ! The only thing that saved the dinner from poor over all. Seasoned well and cooked medium rare as asked.
The 157 dollar bill for the experience was completely not worth it . I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend and will not be back.
If u happen to find yourself there get the lamb and save room for getting a desert somewhere else later.
