Sparks Steak House Ratings and Reviews
We wanted to stay local due to an event so we found Sparks. I have been to many many steakhouses in NYC before. This one was top notch. Food and service were impeccable. Wine list was huge and the overall ambiance was lively. Suggest sharing a steak if you want to indulge in the amazing appetizers. We were full 1/2 way through our Filets. Every bite worth every penny.
The steak was ok that my husband ordered. I was disappointed the Sea Bass had run out and the waiter recommended the Halibut which was a bit on the dry side. The experience was not what I was hoping for. I would likely give them another try but with so many steakhouses in NY it will be awhile before I try it again. :(
Food was very good. Only thing that I have to complain about is they didnt have caesar salad "ready" and did not know when it would be ready. That made no sense to me on a Saturday night at 6 PM. However, steak was very good; perfectly cooked and for what you payed you got a good sized steak. My girlfriend got the salmon and it was also exceptional. Wine list was the biggest and best I have ever seen. Also, if you go you must save room for the NY cheesecake. It is to die for!
This restaurant used to be great 20 years ago but today it’s well past it’s prime. Both the service add food were well below expectations and the price was expensive. My wife use and I had I drink each, shared a salad and each had an entree and side dish. Neither of us had desert and the tab was over $200. For that price there are lots of better options in Manhattan
I have been to hundreds of restaurants and Sparks was by far the best! Luger’s was good but Sparks was better! I chose Sparks to celebrate a very special moment in my life and it was everything I hoped and expected. I enjoyed the best steak of my life and the service was outstanding! Sincerely, I say thank you and you just made another customer for life!
We are visiting from out of town and this was a restaurant that my husbands had on his list of “musts”. The atmosphere was nice, very loud but we didn’t mind. We had reservations and were seated on time. The waiter was just ok. We ordered an appetizer of buffalo mozzarella and a tomato and that was very good. My steak was ok (nothing to write home about) and not cooked the way I requested. I asked for my steak to be medium well and it was almost completely pink. I didn’t send it back. We just ate and left.
Went for my birthday and it was terrible since the beginning, we had to wait 20 minutes at the entrance for the table even though we had a reservation. On the table waiters took way longer than usual to take our drink order and then our actual order. One of the people in my person did not get the meal with us and when it came the beef was raw even though he asked for well done. Every one in the party had their steaks raw-red inside even though we asked medium-well “no red”. The birthday boy asked for a veal chop and got a lamb chop instead. I remembered this restaurant when I went in 2009 and this is why I returned, I will certainly will not be coming back for obvious reasons, I consider that paying almost 500 dollars for this bad experience is not worth it at all. Everyone left more than half of their food on the plate.
We had heard about Sparks, of course. We live in Missouri, and had reservations three years ago, but there was wait staff strike, and they weren’t serving. We were very happy to get in this time. Our waiter, Juan, has been there 24 years, and he was fabulous! Our whole experience was wonderful. All four of us had filet mignon. We all agreed it was one of the best we’ve ever had. We will definately come back!
Our Phenomenal waiter Moufasa goes out of his way to make our dining experience Wonderful! We are so appreciative of his kindness!
And the FOOD! WOW! From the appetizer, shrimp cocktail, to the sliced steak with mushrooms and gravy plus, asparagus and hash browns all the way to the last course....dessert (a special Italian ice cream dessert) we are beyond pleased with every single aspect!
Can't wait to visit again!
Sparks is one-of-a-kind. Its storied history (the restaurant was the scene of a mob hit in 1985) is reason enough to go there. The food is exquisite, the service is very acceptable, and the overall experience is fantastic. It's a bit pricey, but hey, it's a steakhouse... and the portions are large (my steak was enough for a healthy lunch the next day, along with the leftover veggies).
We came for our anniversary! We had wonderful service, great recommendations by our server, a delicious meal, and they even surprised us with a beautiful piece of cake that said Happy Anniversary on the plate! The portions were more than generous. The ambience is charming, and all of the staff is friendly. We had been searching for the perfect place to spend our anniversary and last night in New York, and we definitely found it!
We waited about an hour after our reservation time before we were sat. After we were seated and waited about 10-15 minutes with no waiter approaching our table, a waiter walks up and asked 'have you ordered?' Seriously? The bathroom was dirty and needed cleaning. The steak was good but not with the price considering the really poor service and experience.
