As usual Sparks Steakhouse was super😊
Sparks Steak House is an old well established restaurant in midtown Manhattan. The food is served in big portions and the service is excellent. However, the restaurant is in need of an upgrade. From plates and utensils to flooring and everything else, a freshen up would do good. Also, the presentation of the food is not the best. I ordered filet mignon, I believe it was the most expensive item in the entree section, and it came just the big piece of meat on a plate. No sauces or anything else. They were also not able to make it medium well, it came kind of burned outside and completely raw inside. The sides came in small plates and everything just looked cheap. Definitely not worth the expensive price tag they charge.
I always like to stop in at Spark's when coming through NYC to travel overseas. Very consistent.
Phenomenal steak prepared to perfection. Lump crab appetizer mediocre at best (small pieces with too many shells remaining). Ceaser salad good but small. Authentic ambiance and of course the history is cool. Great friendly server.
I've been attending a Conference for a number of years in NYC. For the past 5 I have arranged a dinner meeting with a client at Sparks. I typically order the same meal every year. This year, the food was markedly of less quality , not done per the request of medium rare came back Med - well, etc. I never balked at the price as the quality was typically there. Not the value for the cost that I'm accustom to. Sorry, not going back next January when I'm at my conference.
Always a great experience. Food is outstanding and wine is very reasonable.
Excellent every time! Service and food are fabulous!
Great service as always great steak..amazing wine list
Birthday - great & delicious food. Nice house Cabernet.
From the moment you walk into this historic Manhattan steak house, you know you're someplace special. Sparks has always been one of my bucket-list restaurant destinations and it did not disappoint. The service was attentive, abundant and personal. We felt as welcome as if we were regulars just dropping by. The food was amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection. I can't recommend it highly enough.
The brought out a dessert with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate. It was a very nice touch and capped off a really nice dining experience.
World class steakhouse in the heart of the greatest city in the world!!!!
Amazing food. Amazing staff. Fantastic night!
Meetup of old friends.
Professional service complemented excellent large steaks and tasty oysters. Good "steak house" ambiance. Low noise level.
I eat here two or three times a year, I love it. If you want to go to Lugars and be treated like dirt, sit at a hard table in a cold room and tolerate waiters who think you are a bother, then go. Here you are treated like royalty, made to feel at home in an opulent room where the linen tablecloth is changed during the meal by smiling, accommodating waiters who are always nearby and responsive, and the food is, in my judgement, better. It was rather slow this visit, just after the New Year, so the noise level was less than usual. It can get pretty loud. I love this place and have no intention of getting a NYC steak anywhere else.
Outstanding all around
I’ve been a customer for 37 years. This hands down my favorite steak in the country. Killer good seafood too. Very friendly and competent staff.
Great place to watch people. You won’t believe what you see!
We were visiting NY, looked for a spot to have dinner after the theater. We booked a reservation for 10.30. We were lucky to get out of the show early and arrived at 9:45. The restaurant was empty , they brought us to a table not set. We could tell the waiters were not happy, as they wanted to leave and go home. We could heat them arguing who was to clean up what. I have dinned at the best places , the prices here were as expensive as you could find. I don’t mind paying for good food. They threw the food on the table , and tossed saucers down . I was appalled , the food was excellent, but didn’t go with the ambiance , and or the appalling service . There are a million places in NY, don’t even think about going here unless they can figure out how to treat customers who enjoy great food and great service
Nice New Years eve
New Year’s Eve dinner was great. Service and food was great. Great time had by my party. Thank you and all the best for 2020
A Big and empty restaurant (at that moment) and the waiter “joined” the few (and noisy) groups all together
Meat could be better
Impeccable service, outstanding food, good atmosphere. Perfect way to end our family Christmas vacation.
This restaurant was recommended to us by a good friend who travels alot and is from the east coast. It was very busy and crowded. Everything about it definitely had "old school" vibe. I am from Tx so I have eaten plenty of steak but did not care for the preparation of my filet mignon. Just tasted slightly dry with no seasoning. Maybe that is their way. Proportions are very large though. I did not realize because the menu has no oz descriptions on meat. I ordered a simple filet and split with my son. We both had more than we could eat. Sides were good not great. Waiter was very professional. Most of the waiters seemed like they had been there for decades. My last comment is that it took so long to get in and out. I know our waiter was aware because he apologized for how long the entire service took. Reservation was for 6:45. We paid our check at 8:30. All in all, I personally would return just to have a drink & appetizer and people watch. It was pretty interesting.
Excellent in everything!
Crowded and very loud, but it was the Christmas season. My entree, lump crab meat and bay scallops was super salty. My son ordered the filet mignon and it was mediocre. Disappointed.
Great as always. Cheers.
It was our son’s 7th birthday and he LOVES meat, so there is no better place to take him. Everyone was so very nice to him. Thank you!! And the food was amazing.
We took my daughter and her boyfriend plus my son and his best friend after the tree for dinner. The food was excellent and it made there NYC experience even better.
The appetizers, steaks, and fish were excellent. The waiter was inattentive leaving the used plates for prolong periods of time on the table. The room was extremely cold with a constant draft of cold air. We couldn’t wait to get our coats on. Several people around us were wearing their jackets and sweaters. It validated parking across the street, and that’s convenient.
Great service, great steak.
Lamb chops looked like chicken wings. Mashed potatoes were watery, probably made from powdered potatoes.Waiter constantly hovering, clearing plates before guests finished, rushing service. Can't hold a candle to Keens.
Nice setting with amazing food and caring service.... thank you
Living on reputation and stories.
2nd time.. good stuff. will definitely go back.
Love Sparks! Go there several times a year and always the day before Christmas—a family tradition. Can’t wait to return.
Very modest complaint: They need a sommelier in the afternoon. With such a spectacular wine list, it is a necessity.
Outstanding service! Had a great dinner with the family loved the place would definitely go back
Was hard to get waiter attention towards the end but was Very courteous when around. My girlfriends Sirloin ordered medium was a little tough with to much tendons inside. Basically ate the outer sides only. Not so much the middle. Spinach side had funny after taste. Very different than the many others I've had in many other restaurants.
All in all was an ok experience. The place itself was beautiful and reasonable which made up for what lacked...
