We had the most wonderful birthday dinner celebration at Sparks! Everything was a delight!
We had a wonderful time
Needing to send back a steak - 2x - at a steak house….. just isn’t acceptable under any circumstance.
I have never been more disappointed with a meal as I was at Sparks. We ordered the steaks the waiter recommended. They were overcooked (requested medium rare but received medium well). Parts of the steaks were completely charred. I am not sure how I made it through that dinner. But the service was nice (nothing over the top but simply polite). It is not worth the hype. NY has far better steakhouses.
One of the quintessential steakhouses of new york. My first choice always. Great food great service.
The food was fantastic for a good price, and the service was outstanding!
Great food and service. Need to adjust the AC it's always too cold and sometimes I hesitate going there for just that reason. It's a shame because the food is so good.
Great apps and delicious steaks!
Perfect dinner to celebrate our son’s 26th birthday. Service was great, drinks were perfectly made and the food was delicious!
This was our first time at Sparks and we will definitely be back!
Service was great. Food was a little overpriced. Filet mignon was tasty but huge. Ounces of steak do not equal to level of taste. Could have had smaller portions done right.
Steaks were not cooked as requested and after taking them back they were not cooked correctly the second time. Restaurant is a mere shadow of its former self
Excellent food. Wait staff was attentive to requests such as splitting various plates. Sparks was not one of the highly recommended steakhouses but it definitely should be on the short list.
10 year anniversary, thank you fir making it one of my best experiences!
The food and the waiter were AMAZING! I highly recommend! (Definitely order the cheesecake for dessert)
With Gotti gone we felt safe at the Castellano table, backs to the wall when our entire table of 6 was cowed, no pun intended, by the vast quantities of superb beef, perfectly prepared, presented and served. Can’t wait to go back if I’m ever hungry again.
Opentable showed a 10pm reservation option, which we took
Upon arrival we were told to hurry up an order ( told as we were walking to table) as chefs were closing kitchen
We ordered within 3 minutes or so, salad was brought out rapidly.. no problem there.. steaks ( this is meant to be a special steak house) brought out before we finished the salad and other shared appetizer.
Literally 5 minutes into the main course ( these are very large steaks ) were asked if we wanted a box for takeout
Waiter was giving “ hurry up” stare as we eat
Can’t think of a worse restaurant experience really
This was my son’s 21st birthday celebration, United a special occasion on opentable when I made the reservation
This was a very expensive and very poor experience
I’ll never go back and I wouldn’t suggest anyone else should
I’ve been dining at Sparks for over 40 years and it continues to make every evening special to me. A remarkable record
Filets huge and cooked perfectly. Bread good but could be enhanced with dish of butter on the table instead of individual butter packets.
Caesar salad good but no salt available on the table for the salad or main course. Creamed spinach subpar. Wine list good and priced fairly.
Needs background music
Best steak I’ve ever had and I’ve been to most of NYC best steakhouses
First off: We live in NYC and have been to most of the Steakhouses in town.
Pros: The Steaks (We had a Filet Mignon and a Prime Sirloin) were generously sized, well seasoned, prepared, and had a good char with little grey banding. The Sirloin was a good cut and had very minimal musculature tenons. Drinks were stiff (a good thing). Hashbrowns (really homefries) were pretty good.
Cons: The decor looks to be unchanged since 1971 and feels quite tired. The Service doesn't have the polish or attentiveness of other high-end steakhouses in the city. The Caesar salad dressing tasted like it was from a Sysco jug. The Sauteed Spinach was watery, overcooked and didn't have any seasoning (garlic, lemon).
Overall: If you're focus is purely on the steak - its a good choice. If you're looking for the "whole experience" - then other options may be a better fit.
Ordered medium steak, sent back 3x as it was still alive on plate
Sparks never disappoints! Excellent food, great service and good atmosphere. They have it all together. Be prepared to present your vaccine info at the door.
Never disappointed at Sparks!!! Always great food and service.
Sparks Steakhouse is a ‘go-to’ for us when we visit NY. Of course, the steaks are excellent and … at least once try the armed Snapper which is outstanding. Usually we will order one steak plus one snapper and share each to make our own version of surf & turf.
Noise level is modest - easy to converse
Huge wine list with fair prices
Probably good desserts but we are always too full to partake.
We celebrated my son’s birthday and had an incredible time. The service and food was incredible! He felt really special. Thank you for such a great time!
First timer. Steak was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Lobster was fantastic . Service impeccable.
I have been going to Sparks since 1985. Still consistently awesome. Great food and service.
I really is a classically perfect restaurant- we love it and we miss all the senior staff who were there before Covid!!
Went to Sparks for a good steak and it was so much more. Miguel our waiter was outstanding! Honestly one of the best Ive ever had. He recommended the sirloin and it was superb. I would recommend this to anyone in NYC wanted a great dinner with great ambiance. Highly recommend!!
Sparks remains a solid hit. Simple menu and extensive wine list. Perfectly prepared steak and good sides made for a perfect evening.
Family outing to celebrate a success. Love sparks but the steaks were just OK and not great.
Old school. Disappointed on size of portions. Disappointed on size of drink pour.
Amazing food with a great portion. Great service and ambiance
The Caesar salad was flavorless. We ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it was blue in the center when it came out. The sole on the other hand (we split both mains) was delicious and perfectly cooked. For dessert we got mixed berries with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream and it was large and oh so delicious.
Sons birthday! Excelent everything! The chef the best! The waiters super! Manager, all very good!
