Sparks Steak House
Sparks Steak House was opened in 1966 by Michael and Pasquale Cetta, hence the logo 'Cetta Brothers Steak Masters'. The restaurant is still a family owned and operated business and is located in midtown Manhattan, a five minute walk from Grand Central Station and The United Nations. Join us to celebrate 50 years of business!
The restaurant is well known for excellent steaks, seafood, fresh vegetables and satisfying salads.
And of course, the huge wine list.
Prime Sirloin Steak
A boneless shell steak from premium steers
From beef tenderloin, a gourmet's delight
Topped with roquefort cheese
Phenomenal steak and wine list! Sides were adequate; I wasn’t happy with the watery mashed potato…I’d choose baked going forward. Staff was lovely. Highly recommend.
Amazing Place! The Lobster was Fanstatic as was Steak!!!
The place was very nice as was the staff mostly.
The food was good but not great and the service was ok.
I felt that the waiter pressed upon our group of 7 selections that he wanted to serve us instead of giving options for our decision. He basically ordered for everyone and we got the bill - which was extraordinary high.
When we were seated, a large bug crawled out from under one of the plates that was being removed.. The busboy corralled it with a crumb cleaner, and had the audacity to claim it dropped from my wife's hair. Shortly thereafter, we saw a similarly sized insect circling one of the light fixtures.
We were off to a very poor start.
I ordered the Filet with sauteed mushrooms. My wife ordered the Cut Steak with onions and peppers with mashed potatoes.
Both were unremarkable. The Filet was of decent portion size, but was charred far too much to my liking (especially when ordered medium rare). The Cut Steak with onions and peppers were just OK. The mashed potatoes had the consistency of grits and were not worth more than a bite.
We each ordered desert. The Cheesecake was extremely heavy and tasted of grocery store quality. My wife ordered the mix berry Romonoff, which she was very pleased with.
At no point did a manager or maître d' check in on us to insure our experience.
We attended a competing steakhouse in Manhattan the previous evening and had an outstanding experience with far superior steaks.
We have visited several top steakhouses east of the Mississippi. Sparks has been the worst by a wide margin.
Food and service were outstanding. The signature Prime Sirloin steak was truly one of the best I've ever had. Great crust. perfect temperature inside.
Everything was fantastic. From the wine to the appetizers to the meals and dessert. I loved their signature sirloin, but my girlfriend had the Steak Fromage and it was one of the best things I've had in a long time. Will absolutely return!
Great experience, will come back!
An absolutely exceptional experience. Nothing to fault.
The dinner was excellent, the drinks will knock your socks off!
Food wonderful, service wonderful. Always have loved going there.
So happy to be back at one of our all-time favorite restaurants. The attentive staff treat you with friendliness and professionalism. And the food is as good as ever... sirloin, filet, and lamp chops were all cooked and seasoned to perfection; baked clams and scampi are my favorite starter. But you can't go wrong with anything. In the "return from covid" era, the dining room felt populated and energetic without being crowded and feeling too close to other tables. A perfect balance.
Love Sparks. Great food and great service
Overall this was a great steakhouse dining experience. We had the sirloin, the sliced sirloin, and the pork chop, all seared to perfection. The desserts were also the perfect topper to the meal. My only problems were the sometimes very slow service (it was a busy night I guess) and no refills on the bread. Also, keep in mind that dinner will run at least $100 per person.
My favorite steakhouse (and restaurant) in NYC. Steaks are excellent and wine list is superb.
Service is attentive and courteous.
I bring everyone who visits me here.
Awsome best waiter ever.
Thank you so much for the great experience! Awesome time
Great place for all types of events. Service was great.
Service was excellent... we ate from soup to nuts! Excellent! Great wine list... My waiter.., Rasheen was the best!..we’ll be back! Top notch Steakhouse!!!
It has list a few steps. My NY sirloin was very tough. Not at all what I expect of Sparks. Will not return.
The meal was wonderful and the ambiance was terrific. Learning the history of the restaurant was so intriguing.
My wife and I celebrated our 30 year anniversary and our daughter celebrated her graduation from college.
Was MUCH better pre COVID DAYS.
VEG SIDE DISHES too small.
Great food. Great service. A real NY steakhouse.
As a steakhouse connoisseur, Sparks has been on my list for quite sometime. Unfortunately it wasn’t remotely close to a quality dining experience. The cut of the sirloin was sub par with a flavor that almost tasted bland when you compare to places like Lugers, Wolfgang and Old Homestead. I actually regret not opting for a seafood dish.
Food was served not cooked , fish was ice in the middle of the swordfish
Great dinner ... outstanding service by a team of servers
Dinner was amazing. Our service was above and beyond. We felt safe and comfortable and afforded us an opportunity to engage with friends after a long season of distance.
Classic NYC top end steakhouse with professional and friendly staff. Food is prepared to exactly the way you want it. Wonderful nostalgic place with great food. Be back soon.
Outstanding service by highly professional, but friendly, staff.
It was wonderful. I celebrated my birthday there and all my expectations were met and exceeded! I would love to thank the maitre d' and bartender Trevor for making making my special request happen. It was truly a magnificent evening.
had a great steak! the filet was cooked perfectly.
Fabulous, professional without attitude and very very friendly. Made a surprise, 65th-birthday party a success.
Thank you, excellent
The food was definitely delicious. There servers could be more nicer to you. My server was rude and inpatient. I couldn’t take his demeanor and rudeness. So I ate my appetizer and took my dinner out. It was my anniversary. Sad I didn’t get full experience
Awesome as usual. There is really no other place that I known of where you can get a perfect 4.5 lobster, broken up and served to perfection to you ever single time. We love it here. They were all properly socially distanced, taking temperatures and the like. It was wonderful. I miss the days of cigar smoking also but alas,... this way is healthier. loved it.
The service was spectacular! Our waiter was so on point, had a great personality just went above and beyond. We were celebrating a birthday, which I mentioned in my online reservation and to my surprise the birthday guest got a complimentary dessert- it was cheese cake and the strawberry sauce was out of this world. It was such a great experience and I highly recommend
always consistently good sirloin steak and the trimmings.
Only issue are the homeless outside the restaurant harrassing the patrons for money.
Outstanding and highly professional service. Extremely accommodating. Excellent bernaise.
We Came Here From Louisiana & When I Tell You Everything Was Absolutely Amazing!!!! It was My Husband's 40th Birthday & They Did Not Disappoint!! The Food, Service, & Atmosphere Was Absolutely Amazing!!! We Will Be Back!!! Thank You To All The Staff At Sparks For An Amazing Night!!!
Steven our waiter was excellent and the food was outstanding
