Steak was superb and all sides delicious. Server was very attentive. Great experience.
This is steakhouse at the highest level. The service is above and beyond. There is another steakhouse, over in Brooklyn, that gets all kinds of reviews, but I cannot figure out why I want to go to an I inviting house noted for rude service yo sit at abate old oak table when I can go to Sparks and be treated like a king, fed food every bit as good, at a lovely linen-covered table where they even give you a new clean tablecloth during the meal. I have dined here dozens of times and it never diminishes. It can get loud, however. The wine list is one of the best anywhere.
amazing! highly recommend this place. lots of history and great food
Overrated and underwhelming. Obviously, just trading on a reputation.
Just wonderful every time- a real hat trick!!
We alwAys go back!!
Classic MY steakhouse. Limited menu, extensive wine list. Excellent service. Pricey.
College friends reuniting
We went for an anniversary dinner. There was done sort of marine event that evening. It was loUd. Hard to have a nice drink at the bar. Not a good experience
When we first walked in the entire restaurant seemed chaotic and I actually questioned canceling and finding another place for dinner.
The noise level was high throughout dinner but once we were seated the service was great, it was actually fascinating to watch the choreography between the staff as they went about serving their tables.
The food was really good, the portions are large, and the pace of the dinner was perfect.
Been a customer for 25 years. Taken back by the poor service and quality of the food. Multiple errors is our order.
The place is ok need some renovation details
food is good! nothing extraordinary
The Service ok
The best steakhouse in NYC I’ve been to most of the classic shops and none of them beat Sparks.
Really great food! Excellent service and the steak was great! I wish I would have asked what size fillet mignon i was ordering (it was probably a 12 oz and I was looking for a 6-8 oz) but other than that, it was outstanding.
I must say this is my first time ever reviewing for negative reasons but I made a 8pm reservation for a reason and was not able to sit till 8:20 at which point it was just slow going which caused us to miss our show. I know you have no control over that but it really was an experience that made the entire night sour. Its one thing to be 5-10 min of waiting for a reservation but 20 min when we saw at least 3 tables open is just unacceptable. On top of the wait we had 3 different servers all of which seemed like they did not know they were our waiter. Overall the experience was next to 0 and really ruined a anniversary that we were looking forward to. The reason i am writing late is cause the open table site was down! Insult to injury... Again this is my first time going negative so I am not sure how to end this but thought id share my disgust.
Our dinner was wonderful. Adam was our server and he made it a very pleasurable experience. We will be back.
Great steaks. Great service. Great ppl
Always great to eat at Sparks. The food is consistently good and so is the professional service.
Fantastic Restaurant!!! Everything was absolutely amazing!!! RIP BIG PAUL!!!
Greeted warmly and professionally. Made to feel welcome and important from the moment we walked in the door.
We were escorted through the dining room to a cozy table in the corner with a nice view of the room. People watching on a Saturday night at Sparks is always interesting.
Orders were taken in a timely manner after initial drink order.
Food allergies we also confirmed discreetly.
Food was excellent as always , steaks spot on, no need for sauce or add ons!
Dessert was a nice compliment to the evening.
Kudos to the entire team at Sparks , once again making the trip from Dallas Tx worth it!
The steak was the best we’ve ever had . Iprw. W was
My husbands steak was raw. Cold in middle. I wasn’t very hungry and ordered appetizer stuff clams and shrimp. Shrimp was like jerky and clams were disgusting. Bread tasted old. Tacky painting are a joke. How this place has survived a beyond me. So many better places to go to.
Have been to SPARKS many times. I think quality and service are not consistent each time. This time service was below par, food was OK. I felt that either the head chef changed or they really had a non coordinated day lacking attention to detail.
Great evening as always at Sparks. Great food, very friendly and professional service. The bill does add up fast at Sparks. It’s pricy.
Overall an outstanding experience. Oscar our server should be commended for his attentiveness and courtesy.
Birthday for my sister’s 60th
Don't read my review just go there. Fantastic restaurant, great service and stunningly good food. The end!
Sparks is my go-to for a great business meal or personal celebration. Amazing steak and phenomenal service every time.
it was my husbands 40th birthday
Terrible service and the steaks were like rubber.
Sparks was the best steak and one of the best dinners I've had with my siblings, ever! Disclaimer you will spend money, and I mean money. 1 App, 4 steaks, 4 sides and a bottle of wine left us with a $600 bill, well over 7 with gratuity but honestly, it was well spent and I'd do it again. $200/person dinners are far from the norm for me but it blocked out 20 years of BS and let us be a family again if only for a few hours. The service was only outshined by the flavor of the steak.
Great experience & Meal
We were encouraged by our travel agent to go to Sparks for a truly elegant experience while visiting in New York. I guess we were expecting too much. I don't feel that we were given the service required of this level of restaurant. The food was good, but not the excellent meal that I was expecting. We ordered the sirloin, Sparks' claim to fame. I should have ordered the fish or seafood. I was brought the wrong glass of wine after waiting a long time. I saw other tables getting their bar orders much faster than I. We had to ask for a desert menu after sitting at the table for a long time with our dishes cleared. Other tables were presented with the desert menu as soon as their dishes were cleared. It was clear that we were visitors to New York, but I would think tourists would be just as welcome as natives. It was our 40th anniversary celebration, but it was not what we thought it would be.
Terrible table. Bump in floor made it difficult to place chair so it wouldn’t wobble. After getting drink waited 3/4 of an hour till waiter came over. Then asked for check and left without eating there. Went to another restaurant. Never again there
Very disappointed with the overall experience. Our waiter was NOT attentive at all. We were visiting from out of town and did not know how large the steaks were going to be, nor how large the sides were going to be. Wine was only listed by the bottle, no reference anywhere that wine by the glass was available, nor the options. The waiter didn't ask if we were first timers, didn't go over anything on the menu, to include the size of the steaks (ounces were not listed in the menu), etc. The steak was very good, but HUGE. The sides were as if they had come off of a buffet, not very warm, dry and looked like they had been sitting out for a while (sauteed mushrooms and hashed potatoes). I have gone to less expensive/not as fancy restaurants with BETTER service and food. For the money you spend and the kind of wait staff that we had, not at all worth it.
Wonderful staff, they were both fun and attentive. We had a great time celebrating my moms birthday with the staff and the food was amazing as well!
This is a wonderful, classic New York restaurant. However, I would put it in the category of expense account restaurant. The prices are quite high. Dinner for 4 was over $600. Certainly if money is not object, you will get the best steak on the planet.
The lamb chops and sirloin were amazing! Service was on point!
