The NY Strip there is one of the Best in New York City! There food is phenomenal, I do wish they would have a lunch menu so I can go more frequently!
Best steakhouse in NYC. consistently terrific and alwsys great service!!
Steak was undercooked
Sparks lives up to the hype. The food is tremendous and the atmosphere is old school high end steakhouse experience. You will not be dissapointed if you're there for the history, throwback atmosphere, or the food.
Overpriced and poor service. The prices were extremely high even by NYC standards. The service was poor even though there were several waitstaff just standing around talking to each other. If I return to NYC, I definitely would NOT go back. There are too many great restaurants with better food, service and prices.
Incredible meal - steaks were delicious
very good food enjoyed our dinner it was our anniversary and thye made it extra special
First time at Sparks. Steaks were delicious, nice portions and cooked perfectly. My wife had the fillet it was 14oz
Ice cream desert is excellent
Nice wine list
Can’t wait to go back
Went here for birthday dinner. Server had a bad attitude, didn’t make anything special and wasn’t friendly. Inside was also very bright and beyond loud. Severely unpleasant and not birthday friendly.
Just dined here with my family. To start the waiter was really rude. He didn't greet us and was extremely pushy. He kept trying to get us to buy appetizers and sides that we didn't want. When my brother in law's appetizer came, he slammed the plate down on the table. Our entrees were mediocre. All of the steaks were over charred and the insides were unevenly cooked. The fish was unseasoned and bland. The hash brown potatoes were also really burnt. The only good thing was the mashed potatoes (which could easily be made at home). When I had left a tip on the credit card receipt, our waiter took it and went to a table next to us to take a peek at how much we left him. This is poor etiquette. I am extremely disappointed with my experience as I have heard so many great things about this steakhouse.
Excellent food & service!! Prime rib out of this world...Best I ever had!!!!?
Classic Manhattan steak house. First class joint all the way. Excellent service and amazing food. Steaks, seafood, wine and had any kind of scotch you wanted to drink!
The best steaks in NY ever, an spectacular winelist and superb service.
Service was great and so was the ambiance. I ordered sirloin and my friend ordered filet mignon. Steak was ok. I don't usually order sirloin steak but that was recommended. I have to say that I have much better steaks. Perhaps I should have gone with filet or chops. Cream spinach was on point.
Perfect place for a great special family celebration. Cannot fault anything. Thanks, Sparks.
My husband and I have been going to Sparks for his birthday for many years...it's always a wonderful experience. The service and the food is superb. They still do it right...still change the tablecloth seamlessly between courses...the only sad thing is that some of the clientele come in looking like they are going to a neighborhood coffee shop, i.e, sweatshirts, etc. I would like to see some of the old world charm retained and Sparks certainly does their part. Unfortunately, some of the patrons don't but I guess to each his own. This would never deter me from returning again and again.
My wife and I traveled to NY from Philadelphia to celebrate her birthday. We arrived at Sparks and was warmly greeted by the host. The staff were professional and attentive, the atmosphere was beautiful, the food was cooked exactly the way we requested. I was pleasantly surprised by the complimentary chocolate cake they provided to my wife for her birthday. Shout out to “Al” our waiter.
An underwhelming experience for an expensive meal. Scallops tasted off and were taken off the bill. Service was bizarre; wait staff could be replaced with an ipad and you would feel more cared for. There are better places to go for a nice meal.
My fiance asked for a number of cocktails to which our server replied no to each one without expanding. Then he told us it was an old fashioned place and only did old fashioned drinks so We tryed again and asked for a glass of Rose wine to which he bluntly said red or white only so after that we gave up. Such a shame as last time i went my server was great really easy to talk to and made us feel welcome the total opposite to this one alls he had to do was explain to us instead of making us feel awkward and belittled! Not what you expecting when your spending $300 i dont remember his name but remember he was from kosovo!
First time ever - they badly missed the temps on the steaks, all 4.
DID NOT GET TABLE SEATING AS REQUESTED! WERE TOLD SECTION WAS NOT OPEN AS THEY PROCEEDED TO SEAT OTHER GUESTS THERE.
BARTENDERS AND SERVERS WERE GREAT
Steak was perfectly cooked and served with amazing wine
It s not expensive at all for such a quality like this!
Very good everything
Lackadaisical, uninterested service.
Good friendly service but I’ve had better steak for far less
We went for my birthday. It was the holidays so service was a tad slower than I would have expected. The appetizer menu was just "ok" and my filet was supposed to be medium well and was a red cold center instead. I chalked it up to being a thicker cut and said nothing - it was still delicious.
Good food if not a little overpriced
Sparks was as expected for an old school New York steakhouse, the decor and food was excellent. However, our waiter was very disappointing. He wasn’t friendly and didn’t once check in on us. We had to look for him to order more wine. When we got the check, he put it on the table without acknowledging us at all after we said thanks. We expected more of waitstaff for an upscale restaurant, frankly we’d expect better service at a diner.
4 dinners. Lamb chops and one steak order served raw! How does a steak house not know how to change your steak! Waiter never told manager. I told a manager when I was leaving. He asked ME why the server never told him!!!!!
For the money there are better houses in town.
Great place, Great Food , everything we ordeeed was delicious and prepared perfect
My jays off to the Chef can’t wait to go back !!!!!!!!
I've eaten at some of the best restuarants in the USA and this steak was the best ive eaten. Sparks will become a regular stop on my New York trips. Service was exceptional.
Steaks were all prepared perfectly. My daughter had the salmon which was also cooked perfectly. The creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were very good. They have a large wine list with reasonable prices. The service was excellent. Our waiter allowed us to take our time and enjoy the evening. We never felt rushed. Overall an excellent steak house with a great combination of well prepared food, excellent service and ambiance.
Food quality has gone down, service was just ok - a waiter could not remember all items we ordered and there were only two of us!
WORST VALUE EVER AND RUDE SERVICE--SPENT OVER $400 --MAJOR RIP OFF
As a native New Yorker, I know the difference between a tourist trap and a place that locals and the intelligent tourist might go to. At Sparks, the latter would describe the place. Yes there were tourists but the place also has a local feel and I felt perfectly comfortable here as I took in the Christmas Eve crowd with my spouse. Drinks were good (although both our glasses suffered from lipstick smudges which the bartender graciously and apologetically replaced for us), and although several of my wine choices weren't in stock, I eventually settled on a white and a red that were both delicious. Our simple appetizer was a Caesar Salad that was good but lacked anchovies (I should have asked but expected them as standard). We settled for a sirloin and the combo lobster tails with shrimp. Mushroom caps (especially delicious) and asparagus were our veggies (no potatoes this time). The steak was delicious and the lobster tails and shrimp very flavorful (not a thrilling dish but an old staple that made me happy on this occasion). We split a dessert, chocolate mousse cake that was uninspired to be honest and house coffee was lukewarm. Still, the tables are large and comfortable which is very high in my list of "likes", the service was old school in the best sense of the word, and the dining room had a happy feel to it. I even made conversation with the nearby table (which I never do lol), 2 lovely Chinese women who asked me about the proper way to tip. We ended up closing the place and while the food was very very good if not memorable, the evening was a nice one and a "New York Night Out" at that!
The service was really unfriendly and diddnt want to take our order. We had to wait about 45 Min for our table although we had a reservation.
The steaks didnt tast good.
Too expensive for the value...
Over rated. Food was good but geography did not reflect the bill! Pricey for frantic service.
We eat at Sparks all the time and lately it has been going downhill. Last night both steaks were overdone and the previous two times they were underdone!
Our waiter was dismissive and impolite.
They really need to get it together there.
