Seeing an old friend from out of town.
From Liverpool - first night in NYC as part of my wife’s 50th birthday celebrations - wanted an authentic Steakhouse with a good atmosphere and a bit of history...Sparks did everything and more that they could to fulfil that hope! Thank you everyone!!!
Delicious, pleasant, delicious food. Wait staff excellent, greeting lovely.
Everything was good except for the server who delivered my meal. It was not my waiter. The server argued with me that the dish he gave me is why I ordered. I informed him that I ordered numerous times and it was incorrect. I asked for out waiter who was very accommodating and made it the correct way.
Great traditional steak house!! Steaks are HUGE, Sides are shareable, but not super big. Staff was extremely friendly. Check it out for sure !
Lovely post Valentine’s dinner. Excellent filet and sirloin
From the managers to the bartenders to the waiters, we were treated like royalty. The food was great and came out timely.
Great steaks and drinks, nothing short of a great steakhouse.
Steak was average
Bread was stale
Host was not there but we waited to be seated
Everything was perfect from start to finish, staff was friendly , wine list was great and the evening was excellent!
Terrible. Got there on time. A huge crowd waiting and a full bar with no seats available.
Our reservation was worth nothing. My name was placed in the third page of a Note Pad.
We were told there was a waiting of minimum 20 to 45 minutes.
We left immediately.
And had a wonderful Valentines Dinner in our favorite neighborhood Italian.
No complaints at all about the food—steak and were both excellent. Sides outstanding, appetizers delicious and dessert outstanding. Unfortunately, that was all overshadowed by the mess of getting a table. The host told more than one customer “reservations don’t matter” and we were sat more than half an hour late. One guy slipped the host a $20 and jumped the line. Worth a visit off-peak but otherwise NOT recommended.
Didn’t pay much attention to those who had reservations vs. Those who did not, and ultimately we were seated 45 minutes late
Old work Steak house . Elegant with great steak and seafood
Excellent spot for Valentines Day dinner.
We ordered the filet mignon and prime sirloin, both of which were pretty good but nothing extraordinary as reviews had indicated. The sirloin had fairly tough bits of fat which make me believe it wasn’t cooked as well as it could. Even still, I rated the food 5/5 because everything did taste very good in the end, and an 80% taste rating is disingenuous in my opinion.
Our waiter was not terribly attentive and half the patrons were wearing blue jeans and plaid shirts despite the dress code being “business casual”.
Gallagher’s is better, in my opinion.
I randomly picked this place to take my mom out for Valentine’s Day before a concert and it was nothing short of amazing. The service is impeccable but the food and the serving of food they give is out of this world. I’ll be sure to let others know and can’t wait to go back one day.
Everything was great. Steak was excellent well prepared. My fish needed a little seasoning but other then that excellent service.
The best service in NYC! Paco was exceptional.
Superb steak, wine, sides and service and deserts and atmosphere.
This is by far one of the best restaurants in NYC... always amazing food and impeccable service
Very attentive and friendly to us, and serves perfect food. Great menu with everything you can pronounce and enjoy. Definitely a great restaurant in all respects .. great bar ... a sweet spot to celebrate or just have a fine dinner!! Definitely not cheap but worth it!!!
Food was delish. Service was good, very attentive.
Old school steak house. I went with a date. Portions are sizable enough that two people can split things. We split the Caesar Salad to start, two sides and desert. We each ordered a steak, she a Filet Mignon and I the Steak Fromage. I had the steak fromage once before, years ago. I had a fond memory of it so I ordered it again. It was a mistake. The cheese totally overwhelms the steak.
I have discovered I like dry aged steaks more then wet aged. Sparks serves wet aged steaks. This is a personal preference on my part. But know the difference.
The steak was good but I wasn't "wowed" by it.
The sides were typical and good.
We split the Strawberry Romanov desert. The strawberries were good but not exactly the best you can get. But the desert was overall, delicious.
The wine menu was vast. I know something about wine but asked for some direction from the waiter. He suggested a Newton Merlot (CA.) It was an excellent recommendation. Service was superior. Atmosphere was good. Some loud diners several tables away were annoying.
81st Birthday of a dear friend... excellent in every way... best flavored Sirloin in NYC... wonderful service in the bar with Trevor, pre-dinner, and in the Dining Room with Anas and his associates... as good as it gets in NYC
Delicious, great service look forward to going back.
Absolutely amazing steak, very efficient and friendly staff. Pricey but worth every cent.
I went to sparks many times in the past 10 years and Unfortunately I have to say the quality of the steak was very poor, kind of tough and not tender and juicy the way I remembered.
The service went downhill as well.
Hopefully they will go back to the way they used to be.
Too many better steakhouse to choose from, keen’s being one of them.
Found it to be VERY overrated. Service was horrifically slow and the food was average at best. Considering the prices charged, I would have expected better food and service.
Great as always. From the moment you walk in when Abdul greets you at the door until you walk out, you’re really treated as special!
Sparks is a true New York City treasure! All I can say is; keep it up! Thank you!
It was an awesome experience. The quality of the food was excellent. I will keep coming to this place.
Great food, impeccable service and the best Maître Abdoul that knows us since we started coming 27 years ago. We have lived overseas most of the years and now here...but are treated as if we come daily!!! The best!!! Merci beaucoup Abdoul!!!
Sparks was a favorite steak house inNY for over 30 years. Unfortunately, it seems to be living off its past reputation. Of our 4 entrees, filet mignonette was quite good but accompanied by what tasted like canned mushrooms and jarred roasted peppers
Which packed flavor. Salmon was very good. A mixed seafood dish felt cobbled together. Ambiance is very old school, but we’ve always found that part of its charm. We wish it were a bit more elevated value for the price.
There really isn't a bad seat in the house. Every table seems like it has its own corner. The ambiance is brighter than some speakeasy types of steakhouses, but not overly bright and the restaurant noise is great for drowning out your table conversation. The wait staff is excellent. Service top notch. Try the steak! The Top Sirloin was fantastic and the asparagus was outstanding. Second time here, and it feels like nothing has changed in terms of quality or experience.
Excellent food, drinks, and service.
Great as always
Delicious food, old school ambience, attentive and friendly staff, and a selfie with Shaq; what else can a girl ask for on a weekend getaway to the Empire State!
Great upscale vibe, steak and salmon were delicious, mashed potatoes were whipped to perfection!
Have made it a must when we come to NYC to celebrate our anniversary - this is the highpoint of our dining plans. Celebrated our 22nd and 24th anniversary here. The atmosphere, the history, the food, the service is all top quality - if you make a trip to NY you must include this restaurant in your plans. The Filet is big enough for two. Unbelievable experience.
I absolutely loved this place. The service was amazing, the wine was great and it was the thickest sirloin steak I've had in a while.
Food was phenomenal and you might spy a celebrity 😊
