Wasn’t starving and ordered a filet, my friend she ordered the same. Never seen a filet so big seemed like the helping was twice as big as any filet I had ever seen. Some times that might be a great thing but if we had known we would have only ordered one steak and split it-
Great food with excellent service. (Normand). Overall a wonderful time.
Our server was amazing, dined there Friday night at 8:00. Exceptional wine selection, great filet mignon, mushrooms and our server made the whole experience worth it. Joe Bebee
We had great service and the food was excellent!
Excellent steakhouse. Excellent service.
One of the major steakhouse in the city !
I had not been to Sparks in probably 20 years, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. If you are looking for a traditional steak house and don't want to travel to Brooklyn, this is a great option
Superb steak and great service. A classic American Steak House.
Best steak in nyc, hands down. Had a fantastic time.
Service, cleanliness and food could be improved. Good location
I had good dinner with my family.
Exactly what a steakhouse should be. I love this place but fear t will be lost to the next generation who do not appreciate the steakhouse experience.
We dined at Sparks for my wife's birthday and our anniversary dinner on June 14th from recommendations from some coworkers that live in town and it was the biggest disappointment we had all week of our trip. We are no longer drinkers so we order a couple of Cokes and they arrived flat. We ordered the prime sirloin along with the 3 1/2 pound lobster along with some sides. I asked the waiter if the lobster was from Maine and he said yes. When it arrived parts of it were still raw and the only part that was edible was the tail as the claws and other parts that were not raw tasted of mud. I worked in Maine for 3 years and this defiantly did not taste like a Maine lobster. The side of hash browns we ordered were almost burnt and the steak that was supposed to be prime cut tasted anything but. The noise level started out fine but by mid dinner the tables next to us were so loud we could no longer hear each other. Our waiter when he was not serving other guests just stood in his area and stared at us the entire time and not once checked in to see how our meal was. This was supposed to be a special dinner for a special occasion and it was far from it. I should have mentioned to our waiter at the time about the sides and lobster but I was so disappointed we just wanted to get out as fast as possible.
Our entire experience from the ease in making a reservation to paying pur tab was an excellent experience. The steaks were fabulous and prepared exactly as expected. We will be back
Slow, poor service.
Huge Steaks Cooked to Perfection. Hash browns are crazy good.
Our meal was absolutely fabulous as was the service and ambiance! A highlight of our trip to Manhattan.
Outstanding as usual.
Absolute best dining experience ever! Sparks has been a dream of ours for many years (long story) and they went above and beyond to make us feel special. It was a night we will never forget! Best steak and lobster I’ve ever had!
Perfect as always
Very pleasant meal in an authentic old school New York style restaurant
Worth the money awesome food wine and service!
Spark's is a NY institution and even though it has been around for a while, it is still a great restaurant that serves great steak and makes a delicious old fashioned and is still a place where old suits show up for business dinners. I am usually a rib eye or porterhouse person and have never been a fan of sirloin steaks but when in Rome... Spark's sirloin was fantastic and made me into a sirloin fan! Our service was a bit confused but at least it was confused in an abundance of people taking care of us. We were there on a night where they had a huge private party so there was a delay in our entrees being served but it was an acceptable delay of about 20 minutes, considering the size of the boisterous party. We just enjoyed our wine a bit more, during that time. The only negative thing I have to say is the ladies bathroom is sad and most definitely showing it's age with it's powderpuff pink bathroom stalls even though they keep trying to retrofit new gadgets in there like an automatic plastic toilet seat cover. That bathroom is way overdue for a real renovation.
Excellent experience, my guests were impressed with quality and service.
My wife and I were visiting from California and decided to go to Sparks for dinner and we are very glad we chose to go there! An incredible ambiance, especially if you’re into the historical “old school” ambiance.
Then came the food. I ordered the sliced steak and it was amazing . My wife had the sea bass which was equally as good . The house Cab was wonderful as well.
As great as the food and the ambience was, nothing topped the wait staff. Our waiter was excellent! In fact at the end of dinner we ended up chatting with three of the waiters, took pictures with them and had great conversation. Truly felt like we were family.
The next time we are in New York we will definitely be going back to Sparks! Highly recommend if you haven’t been there!
On both my visits to NYC (Dec 16 & June 18), I visited Sparks on both occasions, i absolutely love the place, from the minute you walk in the door, its just fantastic, great bar staff and great drinks, amazing food and service, the most incredible wine list. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If i lived in NYC, it would certainly be a regular place to visit. It can be a bit pricey but you certainly get what you pay for!! Keep up the great work guys!
Until the next time x
Very noisy, food average( hash browns and creamy spinach not as wonderful as reviews). Waiter seemed disinterested and should have advised how large the filet was...could have had a piece of my husband's that he left.
Certainly did not live up to the hype. It was ok, definitely not worth the money. We (party of 4) all had the sirloin & shared potatoes, spinach & mushrooms. Steak was cooked perfectly as were the sides. However, they definitely over charge for everything. The service was just ok. Waiter had an attitude.
Jimmy was our waiter, he was EXCELLENT! We came in 15 minutes early, the greeter sat us right away and brought us menus. Food was prepared exactly how we ordered it. Staff was attentive and orderly. Would go back again, great dining experience!
Weekend getaway in NYC
We dine at Sparks every few months and always enjoy it.
Steak excellent, we share one as portion size enough for 2.
Not healthy but fun sometimes to have an excellent steak
and sides. It's expensive, similar to other good steakhouses,
but worth it and has never disappointed.
My wife and I had a WONDERFUL time at Spark's! The filet was the BEST that I ever had! We went good and hungry AND STILL couldn't finish our steaks! Our waiter, Bard, saw to every detail and made our time there as special as possible!
It wasn’t a good experience . The food wa not the same that i used to tast .
10 year wedding anniversary dinner
Great place. Best steakhouse in NYC. The service is very attentive and knowledgeable, food quality is fantastic and the wine list is just about the best anywhere. Highly recommended.
Great food and service
Very disappointing. Had dinner there on Saturday and ordered the sirloin and filet. I asked the waiter how big the steaks were prior to ordering and he acted like he didn’t understand. Finally I asked him how many ounces. Steaks were undercooked and we ordered them medium. Mashed potatoes were excellent. The waiter took away our drinks even though we weren’t finished with them and we felt rushed through the meal. Will definitely not be going back.
We've been eating at Sparks for many years now as it's one of the handful of steakhouses in Manhattan that consistently does a traditional char/crusted steak using excellent quality beef. Steaks are always cooked to perfection, the sides are also traditional (creamed spinach, mushroom caps, hash browns/mashed potatoes etc), and very well prepared (there's a reason they go so well with steak). The other non-straight-up steak options are also very good (eg thin-sliced filet sautéed with mushrooms), but it's really the steaks that shine. The service is rapid, deferential (but not to the point of being obsequious) and knowledgeable about the wine list. The atmosphere is old-school NYC, and is part of its charm. Be aware: it's pricey, but you get what you pay for. We've brought several out-of-towners here and they raved about it. This is not a Peter Luger style steak - this has a tasty crust on it, and is delivered whole (not slices a la Luger). Highly recommend Sparks!
Frankly, very over rated, famous and expensive steak is mediocre. Excellent service and noise level easy on the conversation.
I had been here before & the steak was good but not as good as last time. Good hash browns
I had the shrimp cocktail which had 4 very large shrimp. I would not order it again.
