Great food and service!
What more can I say, the menu is not complicated and everything was great; the meat is cooked just right, including the side dishes and with the wine on the side. My wife had lamb chops and I had the filet mignon. We both enjoyed it very much. Definitely worth going to a place that still makes things right.
This is my second time at Sparks and we were very disappointed. I had high expectations based on my first visit but this time the crab cocktail was mushy and the steaks were over cooked. At this price point, we expected better.
A friend suggested this place for dining while in NYC. By far, was one of the best steaks I’ve eaten. The atmosphere was perfect and the service was excellent. I highly recommend dining here, and will definitely do the same when I return to NYC
From the decor to the staffers and most importantly, The Food, Sparks steakhouse has never lost its spark. Dry-aged for 30 days, gave me and my date an evening of pleasure- her a filet, and myself a bigger steak, that was perfect. They were very respectful of my service dog, Srgt Bernstein, who also had no complaints. Sides of potatoes, and creamed spinach, along with good wine selection for her, and I a beyond refreshing ginger ale. Highly recommend!
From the second you step into the restaurant, service is what sets Sparks apart from other high-end steak houses.
This was one of the best steaks I have ever had in any steak house anywhere. Filet mignon was actually juicy. how often you get that?. Charcoal on the outside for extra flavor and juicy and red on the inside. And the mashed potatoes were heavenly. The servers were excellent and responded to any request at our table within seconds. If you’re going to Sparks take a train or walk as parking in the area is extremely high-priced. We also had a delicious bottle of wine from Columbia Valley. The wine list is extremely expensive but it is extraordinarily diverse so if you are a person who likes his wine bring some extra bucks with you. The atmosphere was a little on the noisy side but not to the point where you would have difficulty hearing your guests. The lighting is fairly dim but it suits the history of the restaurant as it was the site of a Mob hit some decades ago. We also spent some time at the bar in great conversation with the bartender.
Service was outstanding, our waiter was excellent and we wanted for for nothing. Mike crafted my Manhattan perfectly as usual. The two girls meals (steak & shrimp- go figure theres always one who doesn't want steak at a steakhouse) were great however, the wife's Beef Tips were on the chewy side even though medium rare. My steak de fromage was right on the money & call me old school just cant resist the creamed spinach. The real downside was the noise level tonight. We just caught a couple of "table neighbors" this time that were sounding off like a herd of elephants. Normally not an issue, but to say they were loud doesnt do them justice. Overall a good experience, it's a bit pricey, but come on its NYC.
We had a nice dinner this week. We had a great Caesar salad, Fillet Mignon, Strip Steak and sides. All cooked perfectly. IT is a classic old school steakhouse.
The steaks were huge, but excellent.
This is the world's best steak. No contest and no one can tell me otherwise.
Food was excellent. Service was top shelf. Reminds me of how great steak restaurants used to be.
Perfect evening after a Broadway Show. Service impeccable!! From the Maitre de, to bussers were fabulous. This will be a definite stop on return trips to NYC. AWESOME.
Great experience and the filet was fantastic! Highly recommend the filet :) and the service was impeccable!
Steaks waren mittelmäßig und in jedem Fall völlig überteuert
Another stellar meal - this was a repeat visit and I brought the Bishop there to experience a great NY Steak. Congratulations to all at SPARKS
The steak was phenomenal as well as the lobster tail. I would even add that the salad was surprisingly delicious and above average. Staff was excellent and friendly. If you have the money, this is the place to have a great meal.
No Jacket was required and foods were excellent!!
The steak was tasty, but was also probably the saltiest steak I’ve had at any major steak house. Our waiter disappeared for long stretches. Water glass was empty for 30 minutes without anyone coming by to refill it. Staff didn’t know if cheeses used pasteurized milk, which can be important if pregnant, and told us to order something else instead of going to the kitchen to check. For $200 (with only 1 glass of wine) for 2 people you can get a better meal at a million other places in NYC. Not among the top 5 steakhouses I’ve been to in NY.
Our waiter Gino was fabulous, as was the bartenders after dinner! We will definitely be back!!
This was our first visit to this iconic NYC steakhouse. Overall we had a very good experience. Nice steaks, nice sides, good service and nice atmosphere. Would visit again when in town.
Awesome meal, as always at Sparks
Service was adequate until another party arrived who was obviously more important than we were. We waited for a very long time for after dinner coffee and almost as long for the check, all because our waiter, Oscar, was too busy pandering to the other party. This was a special occasion, and frankly, we were very disappointed. We chose Sparks because of previous visits, but, no more.
I’m sorry to say but service was horrific that night. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and we didn’t even stay for dessert. We have been coming for the past 5 years and this will be our last.
Sparks came highly recommended to us try for dinner while we were in New York. I have been fortunate enough to eat in some of the best steak houses around the world. Sparks steakhouse was absolutely amazing and definitely in the top five of any place I have ever eaten. The price of their stakes is very comparable to other area restaurants, however when it comes to the quality of the steak and the quantity, there is no comparison! The steak was huge and was so tender it could be cut with a fork. The flavouring of it was pure perfection.
Wasn’t starving and ordered a filet, my friend she ordered the same. Never seen a filet so big seemed like the helping was twice as big as any filet I had ever seen. Some times that might be a great thing but if we had known we would have only ordered one steak and split it-
Everything was fabulous!! Attention to every detail!! Food and service was outstanding!!
Food overpriced and over cooked. Limited expensive menu that left us disappointed. Never again!
Great food with excellent service. (Normand). Overall a wonderful time.
Our server was amazing, dined there Friday night at 8:00. Exceptional wine selection, great filet mignon, mushrooms and our server made the whole experience worth it. Joe Bebee
We had great service and the food was excellent!
Excellent steakhouse. Excellent service.
One of the major steakhouse in the city !
Incredible service matched with a great menu offering and over the top level of offerings on the wine list.
You want a steak that is worth every dollar, this is the place.
Lobster perfectly broiled and delicious !
I had not been to Sparks in probably 20 years, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. If you are looking for a traditional steak house and don't want to travel to Brooklyn, this is a great option
Superb steak and great service. A classic American Steak House.
Best steak in nyc, hands down. Had a fantastic time.
Service, cleanliness and food could be improved. Good location
I had good dinner with my family.
Exactly what a steakhouse should be. I love this place but fear t will be lost to the next generation who do not appreciate the steakhouse experience.
