Sparkill Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
I never write reviews but thought it may be helpful to improve service in this particular case. T-bone steak was burnt/charred on the outside and a bit rare on the inside. Decided not to make an issue of it and just make the most of it. We were seated in a corner of the restaurant away from other patrons where we felt the service was not paying much attention to us. We had mentioned on our online reservation that it was a birthday occasion but nothing was included or brought up during dinner. Not that we expected much of anything but if the restaurant is not planning to acknowledge the customers birthday, perhaps the occasion option should be removed from the online reservation. The building and interior was beautiful. Once we sat down it kind of went down hill from there. Our friend had recommended the Sparkill Steakhouse to us. We found the experience rather disappointing and will not return.
I have to say that this steakhouse was pricey. The acoustics didn’t work well for it was very noisy. Other than that the service was good and the food even better. I would suggest going on a weekday because this place was full on a Saturday and the wait time for the food was a while but the waiters were friendly and attentive even on this busy day and the food was very good!!
This is usually a great restaurant but it was substandard. A steak ordered medium well came rare. Even after sending it back it was not right.
The waiter reached in front of me to serve another person which should not happen in a restaurant of this caliber.
We ordered decaf coffee which tasted old and burnt. I waited 10 minutes for cream but even the cream did not help the coffee.
Been here three times. Staff is touch and go, a few waiters super friendly and few not so much. Price is a bit high for quality. Steaks are always very charred on outside and rare on inside, even if you ask for medium or medium well. Tastes much better the next day. Asparagus was over done and garlic on it was bitter. Also even though there were lots of families there, not too kid friendly. Also, don’t waste your money on dessert. However, apps are great! Seafood tower is generous, fried calamari is delicious! Wine is always good.
Horrible service. We waited over an hour and 15 minutes for our food from the time we ordered. We were told they were backed up because of a private party they had going on. That's absurd on a Saturday night. No one came over during this time to apologize, offer srinks, etc. I left $40 on the table to cover our round of drinks and salad. I should have left nothing.
We got up and left, completely unnoticed as well.
Our lunch experience was very nice and quiet. The food was very delicious and filling. We would visit more often except that the prices are way to high for the area. You need a special occasion to spend $100. on lunch for 2 people. This restaurant should be called "The Chart House of Rockland County." That is another great restaurant with pricey food.
Our waiter was beyond fun, attentive and plain awesome. His support staff needs lots of work. I only come from a good place sharing constructive criticism. It's chaos and your head waiter, captain can't possibly wait on an entire dining room without a support staff that can't even clean the table of bread crumbs everywhere, dirty dishes, empty glassware. You need to re train your staff. And your Hamburger looks way better than the tough porterhouse. But we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. Overpriced food and a ways too go service wise but if a few details are paid attention to and tweaked, there's potential and you should want that for yourselves. I'll be back but for a hamburger.
We just celebrated a special birthday at the Sparkill Steakhouse. Six of us attended. Our host greeted us warmly and made us feel most welcome. The food was superb! Our waiter, Tom, made it a most enjoyable evening. This restaurant has a very romantic and cozy ambiance. This was our first visit, but surely it's one of many to come. The six of us have found our new favorite steakhouse!
First time here looking for a new experience in the area. We ordered Steak and Lobster. Both came out cold as well as the side dish. No one came to ask about our food until we were nearly done. Waiters were all very nice and attentive when there, but had several gaps where they just disappeared. Management comped us drinks and desert so we will try it again.
On arrival the first thing you notice is the musty small and antiquated decor. The waiter was pleasant and helpful. We ordered salads which were pretty bad. The house salad was all lettuce with a few bits of tomato and onion. The Caesar was oiley. The steak however was quite good. Overall not the worst steakhouse but judging from the reviews I thought it would be better.
We were having a family celebration, we all had steak. The steaks were excellent however, I ordered crab cakes as an appetizer and requested tartar sauce only to be told they don't have tartar sauce. I was provided with an almost French dressing as an alternative, sorry folks if your going to put crab cakes on the menu you really should provide tartar sauce, also the crab cakes were not something I would order if I were to return not very good. Steaks were excellent. Lastly you really should not refer to your French fries as thick cut fries they are actually shoe string fries your serving.
Beautiful steak house with comfortable seating
The food was very good but not As great as last year
The service was excellent
The prices were extremely expensive
For a party of 6 with wine by the glass
1. Cesar salad, 2 Shrimp. Cocktails
Porterhouse for 3
2 filet and lobster
The bill with a 20% tip was over $500
This steakhouse served some of the best steak I have ever tasted. The steak had a nice, crisp outside, nicely constrasting against the rich, juicy interior. It was a bit pricy, but I'll definitely be back to try more of what this place has to offer.
PS: Food aside, the server was attentive and offered great advice.
