Spaggi's Ratings and Reviews
My wife took me to Spaggi's for my birthday the other night and I loved it. Very good wine list and the food was excellent. While the restaurant is not in the best location, when you are there, the outside world doesn't seem to matter. The service is outstanding and after our meal, the chef came out to check in with us to make sure our food was satisfactory. This place is definitely a local treasure. I will be back for sure.
I have been here several times...and always impressed with the food and service. I took my sister here for her birthday and the meal and wine fabulous. The server suggested several wines to go with our food and they were right on!!! Beautiful setting and the food is delicious!
My husband and I had our Friday date night at Spaggi's. We shared Rottalo a delicious appetizer that had a wonderful tomato cream sauce. We also enjoyed fresh salads and then our entrees. My husband had the "Pomona Valley" a healthy dish named for one of our local hospitals. (There is also a healthy chicken dish called "San Antonio."). I had a salmon dish prepared with a sweet apricot sauce and it was very tasty. We finished our date night dinner with a chocolate soufflé that was the perfect size to share. We had a really nice server so I'm sure we will be going back to Spaggi's for another date night.
Spaggi's was awesome. We were in town to visit my daughter and her new baby. Spaggi's was a place my two daughters had been before and wanted to take their Mom and I. It did not disappoint although I wished I had ordered the fresh grilled Halibut...SOOO fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the San Antonio and my wife had the braised rib noodle dish. The service was great...al in all a wonderful experience.
This restaurant came highly recommended by some friends so we decided to give it a try. Expecting an amazing experience, I was disappointed.
First the wine selection was not up to par. The waiter explained they were in the midst of redoing the menu. They had no champagne or prosecco and few wines by the glass.
The olive tapenade and bread were deliscious. Really good. My wife ordered the special, beef Wellington and crab cakes. She said it was good. The sauce was wonderful. The crab a little fishy. The fettuchini noodles were very good but over all the dish was bland. Management exchanged the meal without hesitation so I give them high marks. We both liked the salads.
Over all I would return but it did not hit the high note I was expecting.
We dine at Spaggis restaurant quite frequently and have not been disappointed. The staff are always friendly and the food has always been good quality. I particularly enjoy the sand dabs, which do not feature on other restaurant menus in the area. it is comforting to note that all entrees come with vegetables and you are not required to order a la carte.
I've lived around the corner from this restaurant for over a year and cannot believe I hadn't been there before. The food melts in your mouth. My husband and I split the surf and turf - he got the steak and potatoes and I got the lobster and veggies. Best lobster I've had in a very long time. Not rubbery at all. The dessert tray is to die for. Portion sizes are small, but you'll still want to put most of it away so you can save room for dessert!
Spaggi's has to be the best restaurant in Upland. It is without a doubt a hidden gem! The service and food is always top notch! I do not think you can find a better local dinner for both the quality and price. My wife and I love it for date night and special occasions. We love recommending it to friends, and we have never heard a complaint. The staff and chef are incredible. Amazing specials and quality service. I do not think it gets much better than Spaggi's.
The food was as amazing and delicious as the pictures I found online. I want to go back and try everything else on the menu. I went on a Friday night and the place wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. Its also in a very unassuming shopping center. When I arrived, I thought we had walked through the back entrance, there wasn't a hostess to greet us. When we realize that was the entrance and stood there for a moment we were greeted and when I mentioned my reservation we were seated right away. We sat in a corner table by the window, where I had a view of the bar and kitchen. The overall decor of the place was simple yet elegant. The feel was that you were in someones house, from my table I could see pictures of the Pope and Cardinals. That's when I realized there was no actual need for a front of the house because the layout of the restaurant was like that of a house complete with an outdoor patio. The service was great we were served water right away and an olive spread with bread. The spread was delicious, salty, savory goodness. Our waiter recited the longest daily special menu, I can't believe he remembers all that, when he finished, I wanted one of every thing. Sadly I knew I couldn't handle more than one plate that evening. We had a chicken plate and a fish special and I almost helped the staff cleaning my plate. The sauce that was served on my fish, was so amazing, I even asked if I can get it as soup to go. What I liked the most was how piping hot our food was, at other restaurants its usually the plate, but here it was the actual food. The only thing was that my reservation was for a special occasion and when the restaurant called to confirm I also explained we were celebrating a birthday, and I was asked again in the restaurant, but our dessert did not come with a candle. Definitely not end all but I wished they had done something with the information, as I did see it done for another table.
Spaggi's is always good. Good for 2 and good for a group celebrating a special occasion. They serve globally and seasonally inspired dishes which are very fresh with interesting combinations, beautifully presented. Plus there is exceptional salads, pasta, fish and meat. There are always many new choices. The waitstaff is always friendly and accommodating.
Our waiter Cameron was professional and knowledgeable. The Beef Wellington was great, the service reasonably fast, and we enjoyed the experience. We ate too much to order any dessert, but a small complimentary one was offered for our anniversary. The only thing that detracts from the experience is it's location...in a strip mall, with a Del Taco prominently visible outside. Simply closing a set of drapes or shear curtains would make a big difference. I've driven by the location many times, and never knew what a great restaurant is hidden inside. My wife and I both gave it Two Thumbs Up.
We had heard good reports about Spaggi's, but had not had a chance to try it out. We regret having waited as long as we did. It was excellent in the quality of the food, the service, and the ambience. We wanted a venue in which my wife and I could have a quiet conversation while we enjoyed a meal. We enjoy Italian cuisine and what we found at Spaggi's was excellent. We recommend it highly and look forward to our next visit.
Service was great, the waiter knew his menu, but frankly the food to me was bland. I had the lasagna and it was pork based which again was bland. It was also a red cream sauce which to me kills the tomato flavor and ads to the blandness. Definitely needs some cayenne to spice it up.
