Spaggi's Ratings and Reviews
Spaggi's provides a great semi-formal atmosphere in which to enjoy authentic Italian fare. The place was practically empty on the Tuesday evening I ate there, but it was a cold rainy evening and that could have been the cause. I enjoyed the delicious mushroom champagne soup that was featured that evening followed by their Osso Bucco. Both were excellent. The Ossobuco was fairly rich and served over house-made pasta. I was disappointed in their creme brulee that evening. The custard was a bit lumpy and not very flavorful. Diners hoping for a cocktail need to know that Spaggi serves only beer and wine, even though the menu lists some specialty cocktails. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would return in back in the area.
Again a dinner that did not disappoint. The special beet-quinoa-arugula salad was beautiful and a nicely-balanced sweet-pungent mix of flavors. Two items from the regular menu (salmon and chicken dora) were both excellent. Next time I'll ask for less of the glaze on the salmon -- much as I liked it I didn't need that much. The salmon was cooked just right -- hot but not cooked dry. The vegetables and potatoes were freshly prepared and delicious. The chicken dora is my husband's favorite dish just about anywhere. And a plus here are their good vin ordinaires at reasonably-priced pours. Beautiful desserts but who had room?
My wife and I ate there Christmas Eve for the first time ever. And it will not be our last visit!! One of the finer restaurants around. Location in a strip mall is deceiving. The food is fabulous! Service is top drawer. Chef left kitchen briefly and talked to each table. My wife had chicken off the regular menu and I had South African sea bass from the specials. Both were delicious. Sides and sauces/flavorings were perfect match and delicious as well. Presentation was excellent. Staff superb! Clean plates were all the server had to remove. Very delightful experience.
Our overall experience was excellent. We received top quality service. The owner was busy working the restaurant as well, greeting as well as taking care of setting tables, etc. Proving she took pride in her business. The food was excellent. The chef came out to greet patrons as well. We have nothing negative to say. This restaurant, if it had a better location than a strip mall would we world famous. But location should not stop you. I’m confident you will be satisfied.
Best meal we have enjoyed in a LONG time! The chef comes by every table to ask how everything is tasting. He is an EXCELLENT chef and a very personable person. His wife is a cheerful, warm person who is there to welcome you. We highly recommend Spaggi's to anyone!
Celebrated my spouse's birthday at Spaggi's and generally was very pleased with the food, service and ambiance. They don't rush you through courses which makes for a delightful dining experience. Of note, the eggplant champagne soup and Osso Buco were exceptional! My husband ordered the linguine and clams, but wasn't overjoyed about this dish. He thought the clams were very small and the linguini sauce seemed to have too much olive oil. The deserts were fabulous and everything was well-presented. Regardless of the pasta issue, we will go back again because overall the food usually is excellent.
My wife took me to Spaggi's for my birthday the other night and I loved it. Very good wine list and the food was excellent. While the restaurant is not in the best location, when you are there, the outside world doesn't seem to matter. The service is outstanding and after our meal, the chef came out to check in with us to make sure our food was satisfactory. This place is definitely a local treasure. I will be back for sure.
I have been here several times...and always impressed with the food and service. I took my sister here for her birthday and the meal and wine fabulous. The server suggested several wines to go with our food and they were right on!!! Beautiful setting and the food is delicious!
My husband and I had our Friday date night at Spaggi's. We shared Rottalo a delicious appetizer that had a wonderful tomato cream sauce. We also enjoyed fresh salads and then our entrees. My husband had the "Pomona Valley" a healthy dish named for one of our local hospitals. (There is also a healthy chicken dish called "San Antonio."). I had a salmon dish prepared with a sweet apricot sauce and it was very tasty. We finished our date night dinner with a chocolate soufflé that was the perfect size to share. We had a really nice server so I'm sure we will be going back to Spaggi's for another date night.
Spaggi's was awesome. We were in town to visit my daughter and her new baby. Spaggi's was a place my two daughters had been before and wanted to take their Mom and I. It did not disappoint although I wished I had ordered the fresh grilled Halibut...SOOO fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the San Antonio and my wife had the braised rib noodle dish. The service was great...al in all a wonderful experience.
This restaurant came highly recommended by some friends so we decided to give it a try. Expecting an amazing experience, I was disappointed.
First the wine selection was not up to par. The waiter explained they were in the midst of redoing the menu. They had no champagne or prosecco and few wines by the glass.
The olive tapenade and bread were deliscious. Really good. My wife ordered the special, beef Wellington and crab cakes. She said it was good. The sauce was wonderful. The crab a little fishy. The fettuchini noodles were very good but over all the dish was bland. Management exchanged the meal without hesitation so I give them high marks. We both liked the salads.
Over all I would return but it did not hit the high note I was expecting.
We dine at Spaggis restaurant quite frequently and have not been disappointed. The staff are always friendly and the food has always been good quality. I particularly enjoy the sand dabs, which do not feature on other restaurant menus in the area. it is comforting to note that all entrees come with vegetables and you are not required to order a la carte.
I've lived around the corner from this restaurant for over a year and cannot believe I hadn't been there before. The food melts in your mouth. My husband and I split the surf and turf - he got the steak and potatoes and I got the lobster and veggies. Best lobster I've had in a very long time. Not rubbery at all. The dessert tray is to die for. Portion sizes are small, but you'll still want to put most of it away so you can save room for dessert!
