I looked on line to have a nice dinner with my wife on Valentines weekend. It did not appear there was any night dining at the Spa Cafe but I could make a reservation, so I did assuming we could order off the lunch menu. Instead we were presented a fixed 4 course menu for $80 each. No extras unless you paid for it and that included coffee and extra crab dip as we did not like the other one also presented. Our total bill with 10% tip and one drink each was $232.00. The food was very good and well presented but overpriced. No wonder there was no one else in the restaurant and on Valentines Weekend no less.
Lovely setting. Order the buckwheat waffle, which consisted of two little waffles. They were very good but portion size petite. Hubby got the mushroom spinach omelette which was tasty. Due to the small portion sizes of entrees we ordered a side of chicken sausage which was delicious and needed.
The new weekend pop up restaurant at the Spa Cafe is excellent. I love the concept of shared plates and eating locally sourced foods. Everything was very tasty and thoughtfully prepared. Having new menu items weekly keeps us locals coming back for more. Bravo to the chef and to Bacara for trying something new!
I have eaten at the Bacara miro, bistro and bar. The spa cafe is now my overwhelming favorite!! I love the concept of ordering food to share. We tried the beer salad, big apple steak and the flat bread. All which I highly recommend and can hardly wait to go back for more. As far as service goes, it was perfect. Julio was exceptionable and very knowledgable concerning wine.
My wife and I had lunch on the patio to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The biggest disappointment was the food. I had the salmon which was supposed to be wild. Wild salmon is typically very pink. Mine was not so I doubt it was really wild. The veggies that came with it were way over salted. My wife had chicken which was tasteless and her veggies were swimming in soy sauce. All in all the quality of the food did not measure up to the hefty prices charged.
The food was surprisingly good for a hotel food, but as part of an upscale resort you would expect no less. We been disappointed at many other resorts, but Bacara lived up to the expectations. The food was tasty and well presented. Service was even better with warm friendly smiles and optimal attention given to make a pleasant dining experience. Definitely plan to go back whenever in the area.
Each item we selected was beautifully presented. Our table on the patio gave us a feeling that we were not just at lunch but also on a mini vacation. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive to our guests. We will return many times when our travels brinng us to the Santa Barbara area.
Lunch on the patio was very pleasant. Great spot for conversation in a quite, beautifully landscaped outdoor atmosphere. The food was exceptional, but very light portions - fine for me, but not for the hearty appetite. The wine list was above average, but pricey. I recommend the Pinot Grigio with the ahi or chicken. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.
Very healthy and well-prepared options. My sister had the mixed local vegetable with rice and loved it. My husband really enjoyed his soba noodles and I had an amazing pomegranate, goat cheese and walnut salad that will keep me returning to this restaurant! We had 2 children with us and were surprised to see that they had a special children's menu that was ver generous portions.
