Sovana Bistro Ratings and Reviews
This was my first visit to Sovana Bistro, the staff was friendly and service was great. Food was amazing we had the Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts, the cheese board, tuna tartare, spinach dip, and I had the papardelle Bolognese with Frank's need balls! Absolutely delicious and I can't wait to come back again... soon! Appletini was yummy oh and the butterscotch cake is to die for!!
The food here never disappoints, the service not so much. All our meals were delicious, we were given our check before we had dessert, once we ordered our dessert never could find our original waiter, but all ended up well as we were comped our desserts. The food is always five star plus!
We had a great evening and the food was fantastic. Our server seemed to be busy in a different section for a while at a time. We finished each course and/or drink and would wait about 15/20+ mins before she was able to get back to us. She was very knowledgeable and super friendly when she was at the table so we realized she might have had multiple sections. Overall everything was great!
To start we were greeted with two flutes of bubbly by our server since they knew it was an anniversary celebration. That was an unexpected surprise! We shared a charcuterie plate and the calamari. Both were delicious! For dinner one of us had a strip steak and one the fish special. The steak was perfectly cooked and a nice sized serving. The fish, while tasty, was the skimpiest dish I've ever been served. The fish was no more than 3-4 bites and although they come with "sides" it's really just a decorative accent on the plate. Cocktails were good. Service was good. Our waiter Sam was very helpful and knowledgeable. The seats were very uncomfortable.
We have been several times & always enjoy their cocktails & food! They know their way around a martini. They make some of the best ever. ‼️ Their menu seems rather limited but their food is always quite good. I personally wish they had more chicken dishes. Although we enjoyed coming here for our anniversary, they in no way went out of their way to make it special. The "one free dessert " we did receive was because I inquired. So no, not a special occasion place but still a great place to dine.
Wow, awesome! We have been wanting to try this place forever, finally did and were not disappointed! When we booked we got the patio and had no idea what to expect, but feel lucky we did get it. The inside was mobbed and loud, the patio was quiet and really nice for a date. Food was tremendous, service equally as amazing! Kudos to the hostess as the place was a zoo when we got there and she was handling it like a pro all with a smile!!
Very interesting menu made choosing an entree difficult. Everyone in our party raved about their dishes. The homemade pasta entrees were really good - great texture, cooked perfectly and delicious adventurous sauces like wild boar meat sauce. Definitely going to be back soon before the menu changes.
Finally, Really great service has returned to SB. Our waiter was attentive, helpful and pleasant. The last few years the lack of service has affected the dining experience. The food is always Great. The lack of staff has been an issue that finally seems to have been addressed. SB is our favorite suburban restaurant in chester county by far. Delicious, local, farm fresh, YUM!
We'd never been before and we're excited about supporting a place that serves local food and wine, and it was also our wedding anniversary so we were hoping for something special. The garden room was lovely and we were happy to be seated there as opposed to the inside which had less ambiance. From the time we sat until we finally got our check, it seemed like we spent a lot of time waiting in general and the bigger tables got much better service and attention. Several times while we were talking to our server the larger table next to us would interrupt and ask for something and our server would leave us to attend to them even though we had been sitting for 20 minutes with no service. The food was okay but portions were small and the entree had little accompaniments. I got the short ribs and they were good but the potato purée wasn't there it, my wife got the special blackened grouper and I thought it was super fishy and the risotto was over cooked and cold. It was just a little disappointing overall.
This restaurant has always been one of my favorites. It always has a good menu and the specials are usually really good. The service was slow at first but it got better once we were seated and we had a waiter come to our table. The seating outside on the patio is much better than inside the restaurant because it seems more spacious
I have never had a bad meal here. I have had lunch and dinner at Sovana Bistro, most frequently for lunch. The service is wonderful! Everyone goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and to see if you need anything. I continually recommend Sovana Bistro to my friends.
The wrong meal came out and our server never checked back to see if it was ok so we never got it fixed. Also, one of our party members is gluten free and got home and was terribly sick so something wasn't gluten free, as advertised, or there was a mistake in the kitchen. We love SB so we will be back but we were definitely bummed on this occasion.
Not as good as we expected and/or menu items sounded. Food was delivered warm, not hot. Portion size for the money was not good on a couple of the "appetizer" portion entrees. One person's Prixe Fix menu salad was so small, might as well not be called a salad, and we were told that was the "only" small portion of the prixe fix, but the entree was more the appetizer size as well.
Entrees didn't seem to live up to the description and ingredients listed on the menu.
Overall, a little disappointing. Probably wouldn't make the long drive again.
We have been going to Sovana Bistro for many years . The food and service were excellent. However, the last two visits have been disappointing. This week my wife and I had two specials. The mushroom crepes with shaved black truffles were Luke warm and lacked any taste or aroma of truffle. The bronzino was overlooked and the lemon and oil were missing.
Hopefully they can get back on track. But we won’t be back foe a while.
