The scallop appetizer with the berry gin drink specialty was the stellar opener followed by the scrumptious Tagliatelle squid ink shrimp and mussels ... once again an outstanding meal front to back with great service all done with so much care.
♥️♥️♥️♥️Thank you thank you thank you- Alice B
Good service, a bit slow, nice outdoor seating. Too loud inside. Encellent pasta dishes an tuna tartare , ok pizza, burger underwhelming with pretzel bu that fell apart.
I am always surprised at how good everything thing is at Sovana!
The food was wonderful and lots of variety, the staff are very knowledgeable. Great restaurant.
Always a great place to dine. They vary the menu and usually have daily specials. Service is top notch. A little pricey ( e.g. $38 for a halibut entree).
Sovana never disappoints, food and service is always excellent!
We are frequent diners at Sovana Bistro-one of our favorite restaurants because it's consistently excellent. This past weekend we expected the same quality of food and service and for the most part it was... One thing that was really annoying involved my ordering of an expresso that came to the table warm. When I sent it back for another hotter cup the waitress made a comment that she had made it herself and insinuated that I was wrong. (We do have our own expresso maker at home so we have a little experience in the matter). A few moments later, she brought back the same cup- I had added sugar to the first- at the same temperature. I left it on the table and we paid for it anyway. We understand the limitations of a busy night and that culinary experiences can't always be top notch. It would have been fine if the machine wasn't working properly but we didn't get a sense that was the problem. In any event, we left feeling somewhat upset because our concern was not only unresolved -it was basically ignored.
This was our first time at Sovana as it is a bit of a drive for us, and we will definitely be coming back. The salmon was spectacular. We also really enjoyed the soup of the day (corn chowder) and the salad special (cantaloupe, peaches, prosciutto with goat cheese). It had a very active bar area where people seemed to be having a fun time. Excellent service and interesting cocktails. But the food was really the highlight. Highly recommend.
Birthday dinner for my husband with two of our children. We wanted to share Sovana with our grown children who both live in Philadelphia. We tried various dishes that we hadn’t had before. All were tasty and fresh. Even the cocktails.
We love it here for our date nights!
Everything was great! Loved our waitress who allowed us to take our time with no rushing!
Everything was great as always!!
Caroline was attentive and helpful. Tune tartare and “beetnick” were both delicious.
We love this restaurant. Outstanding service with attention to detail.
Medium rare rib-eye was well done, pizza was burned but somehow also not crisp. Pasta was excellent, however way overpriced. Front dining is was so noisy it hurt my ears, asked to sit outside for dinner which they accomodated and that was much better.
Replacement steak was better, still not how I ordered. Nothing taken off bill or offered for having to wait while everyone else finished their food.
Also, stated that I would be sharing the steak and it came on one plate, had to ask for second plate plus a steak knife since the regular knife couldn't cut. Most other places will cut in half for you and prepare a second place.
I have been here five times prior to going to Longwood Gardens, I think this'll be my last, will find somewhere else.
A little over-priced. My friend and I each had water and a salad with grilled chicken. The salad was pretty small and skimpy. The chicken we added to it was OK. I didn’t feel very satisfied when I left. Our bill was $40, not including tip. So for $48 we got two skimpy salads and water. I live over 30 minutes away from the restaurant, and I definitely would not make the drive back again. Maybe if I was in the area I would try something else off the menu. The service was good, and the ambiance is cool. Just a lot of money to spend on lunch and leave the restaurant still a little hungry.
I had read an article about Sovana a year or so ago and finally got reservations. Defined as Farm to Table I had been expecting a little more of a “farm” decor but was pleasantly surprised with a sophisticated table atmosphere. The pappardelle with wild boar Bolognese sauce made me think I was back in Italy. Delish! Can’t wait to go again.
Sovana Bistro is consistently good. The staff is engaging and efficient.
Had the Taste of the Season Salmon. It was good, but I suspect a fair amount of added sugar. Stingy serving of the cauliflower that comes with it. For $31 I would expect more.
I’ve been going to Sovana’s since it opened. Food is good to fantastic, but for the prices, it should be plentiful and very good., and I’m disappointed when it’s not.
Love it there! The food, staff and location are awesome!
We sat outside Friday for lunch. I don't know why because it was the hottest day of the year. But we're glad we did. Don't remember our waiter's name, but he was awesome. One of our party is gluten sensitive. He KNEW HIS STUFF. She said he was the most knowledgeable waiter she's ever had regarding understanding the needs of a gluten free person and advising her on their menu items. Kudos to this waiter!! Hopefully, SB trains all their staff on GF and other food issues. It is really important and very much appreciated.
Our dinner was delicious- the salads were fresh with the perfect balance of herbs and seasonings. We ordered a pizza and remarked that even the crust was amazing. The service was great. We will be returning soon.
We have a wonderful time for our 25th anniversary. The staff was pleasant and helpful, the food was delicious, and we sat at a quiet table. Perfect! The only drawback is the chairs aren’t super comfortable especially for anyone plus sized.
Our server Sophie was fantastic - matching her service style with our irreverent goofiness. Good was terrific as always - the tuna tartare continues to be a favorite year after year.
The food was excellent. We had pizzas and a spinach & artichoke appetizer. Service, while very friendly and knowledgeable, was slower than I would expect. The restaurant is beautiful and other entrees looked good. Inside is very loud, would try to be seated outside next time.
Love this farm to table high quality chef's imaginative restaurant. Foodie lovers will love it and great looking bar area. Good for families or a special date. Couldn't have been happier with the service - lamb tagine was extraordinary. Pizza Margherita a triumph. GF friendly with no attitude. Will visit every time I am in the area. A very happy birthday celebration with my family. (PS middle of the restaurant great private tables overlooking the pizza oven)
My husband and I went for our anniversary. The place was beautifully decorated and had a good ambiance. Wonderful service and delicious food! Will definitely go back
Belated Father’s Day and Mother’s Day celebration on the outside patio. Absolutely lovely!
This is our go to place for lunch or dinner. Always good.
We chose to eat in the bar area high top table. The rest of the restaurant not quite as loud. A neighborhood gem. The “Best Bartenders”!!
Very enjoyable birthday lunch for a small group of friends. Good, varied seasonal menus which include gluten free items as well. Express lunch is always a good choice.
Mice restaurant, our waitress was very friendly and efficient
We had pizza which was excellent. Our friends had pasta which they were both happy with.
Drinks were good
Awesome! Sat in the bar area. Probably a little louder than other parts of the restaurant. Great selection and service. A neighborhood gem!!
Good but not great. I would rate the experience as 4.5 stars if possible. Food was good and serive was very friendly & helpful.
My husband and I greatly enjoyed our dinner at Sovana Bistro. I had the meatballs and papardelle with wild boar bolognese, and my husband had the duck confit spring roll, lamb shank tagine, and creme brulee for dessert. The food was really delicious and the service was attentive. The only negative is that the noise level is high, but it is a bistro after all. If you want delicious and inventive cuisine, then this is the place for you!
Great food, a bit on the pricey side but worth the treat.
I'm a regular at Sovano Bistro. I love that place.
Always amazing food!
This is a great farm to table local favorite bistro. If you are ok with the noise level, it’s a great find. The restaurant prepares their creative dishes with local farm fresh ingredients. Our favorite pics were the arugula salad with asparagus and fried artichokes, the grilled salmon , and the deconstructed s’mores dessert. Delicious!
Sovana Bistro is back on our list of favorite restaurants. For a while, we were less than pleased with the service and only so-so on the food. They seem to have come back to their high standards. The mahi mahi special was perfectly cooked, and we loved the accompaniments. My only complaint is there was not enough of the puree they used as a bed for the fish. The fixed price menu is a good choice as they include their best dishes, and there is plenty of food. We love the cheese tray for dessert. I had the lentil soup, and it was excellent. Our server, Robbie, couldn't have been nicer and more attentive. He is very knowledgeable, too. We had a very nice experience.
