Souvlaki GR Midtown
Very crowded, but efficient service to be admired due to cramped space. Food is very good and this brings us back whenever in the neighborhood.
Had a 6:00 rez (to allow time to make 7:30 show) - finally seated at 6:40. Clearly they either overbooked or more likely accepted too many earlier walk-in customers. Space was way too tight and way too loud. Food was OK. Service was highly impersonal.
Aside from the very tight quarters, the food was yummy.
I came here before the theater with a friend and we sat at the bar. The inside is very tight, but the ambiance, friendly service, and great food outweighed the close quarters. We would definitely come here again!!
Too crowded, my moussaka was cold, had to be sent to be reheated. Lamb chops were pretty good as grilled octopus. Good location if going to Carnegie Hall
Comida deliciosa, lugar muy apretado pero comimos delicioso y el servicio muy rápido y bueno
Everything was very tasty, delivered to the table in a timely manner and copious enough.
The food was delicious and very reasonably priced for NYC. One thing to note is that it’s a small place with a lot of tables, so noise level was high on a Saturday night and the seats were tight! It didn’t bother us but it could be a factor for others
Great food and service. Small tables and a bit tight space but worth it. Will definitely eat there again.
Good food and good service. Thank you!
Reasonably priced Greek food and close to City Center!
The food was delicious and the service impeccable, considering how busy they were the did not miss a beat. Would highly recommend.
Lovely food, excellent service considering how crowded the place is. We loved it! Greek salad and meet plate for two. Will come again for sure!
Good location and good food, but the tables are so super close together you can barely move. And even tho we had a reservation, we stood in a long line that snaked out the door for a long time which caused stress as we had planned for plenty of time before theater. The bright spot is the bartender who was awesome.
Waited 30 minutes past my reservation time.
The food was as good as it was crowded! But the service was quick and worth it!
Great Greek food in a authentic environment... Great prices!!!
This place is a gem. Our only complaint is that tables are too close together.
I really liked the food. Service was good and we were sat on time. Music was a little loud but the look of the restaurant was great.
Everything was excellent as usual!
Great spot for authentic Greek food. The place was busy, with great atmosphere. Felt like I was in a taverna in Greece. Good value too.
Food was good but it was so loud and crowded inside it made dinner pretty unpleasant. The waiter messed up my order, probably because he couldn’t hear me. Bummer.
Very busy and bustling. Tasty food, especially the lamb and potatoes. Pleasant but harried maitre d’s and waitstaff. Might want to work on the timing of reservations, had to wait longer than I’d like. Still, we ate there two nights in a row and were happy we did.
The food here is amazing and the service was awesome ! Everyone should try this restaurant!!!! Specials are fantastic as well
It was awesome!
Lamb burgers were outstanding. Avgolomeno worth skipping. Staff attentive. Noise level climbed as lunch hour wore on. Not meant to be a posh place so ambiance was perfect.
Always delicious! Friendly service in a very unique atmosphere. You honestly feel like you are in Greece. The food is just wonderful. Thank you!
The food was good and the prices reasonable, but the food wasn't good enough to make up for the crowded condition (we were all but sitting in the laps of the folks at the next table) and the noise level. The noise level exceeded my pain threshold, and while you could here someone sitting right next to you if they talked in your ear, you couldn't hear anyone across the table. In addition, the shrimp was served in a sauce with the shrimp tails on. A definite no-no unless you prefer to eat only part of each shrimp or maybe prefer getting sauce all over you.
We will not go back.
This was second time-first was dinner on Friday eve which was a bit too frenetic. Took son there for birthday lunch and, aside from the bottleneck situation at the entrance and the small wobbly tables crowded together...food, service, portions etc. perfect. A fun, noisy, crowded midtown place for authentic Greek food recommended by a Greek friend who goes there all the time.
Every item was great. Great food and great value
Somehow, I always end up eating there every time I’m in town and never been disappointed. Check it out.
It's a bit cramped in there, but the food is always worth it. Make reservations or you will find yourself waiting for a table.
Grilled octopus, greekmeatballs, horitiki, chicken souvlaki, pastitsio, lamb chops, greek sausage, mixed grilled vegtables, and octopus stew, were all cooked to perfection. Greek salad enough for 2. Ozu was delicious and baklava to die for!
Great service, not rushed, accommodated food allergies as well. Busy but the kitchen was great in getting out our meals.
Great find and a very enjoyable meal!
The balcony where we sat was so poorly lit. Could not see to read the menu.
It’s a nice place and good food but we ordered 3 different and get two alike and the salad was with things that wasn’t in the menu, we disappointed
Place is small and they pack people in. Little room
Between tables and no room between tables and bar area.
They sat us at the bar. The bar tables have poles in the middle of them, I now have bruises on my legs. If you make a reservation, you shouldn’t be seated at the bar. We ordered an appetizer dip. The waiter should have informed us that the same one came with our meal, we might have ordered/tried a different kind. Just an overall lack of caring and information. Won’t be going back.
The food was great, especially the lamb. The drinks
