Souvlaki GR Midtown
Dinner: Sunday-Thursday 5pm-11pm
Overall simply a great experience
Love it! Always a treat eating here :)
Very casual. Delicious lamb chops I could pick up with my fingers and sauces to go with. And lots of pita bread. Yum!
Food was very good but we never saw our waitress other than to take our order and give us the bill. Very small, tight fit and very noisy.
Wither it's a holiday or not the lamb chops are the best in town stop by and see the nutcraker out front such fun
This time I had the shrimps with feta cooked to perfection Food will never disappoint
Always a fantastic experience! As Greeks, we are picky about Greek food and the flavors are spot on here. Portions are generous, great ambience and service always, and really good value. You must go!
The quality of the food and hospitality continues to be great. A bit more of space would not hurt, though the small current footprint does add to the character. Also it would be nice to add coffee to the menu. Keep up the good work. Will be back again soon.
A friend and I were visiting the city and happened upon this adorable place via a random open table search. We were famished an hour before our reservation and they happily accommodated us (no small feat in a 50-seat establishment). The service was quick, efficient, and friendly. And the food. Oh my goodness. I am Greek and this took me back to yia yia’s house—with a slightly modern twist. It felt like we were dining in Greece. Highly recommend!!
Love it! The atmosphere is very cool. Small, cramped, and loud, in all the best ways! Love the decor, and the food and service were great!
Great food and service, and love the look/feel of the restaurant. Makes you feel like you've escaped Midtown!
Good greek food in a very small space. Nice vibrant environment. Service was not great as the place was too busy and not enough wait staff. Ordered some sauce to dip the fries in and was charged $7.50 !
Great value but slow for dinner service. Food came out quickly!
Love the food especially the lamb.
We have been to Souvlaki at least three times before and it has become one of our "go to" restaurants whenever we visit NYC. The food is very authentic and all the wines are Greek which we really enjoy drinking. It is nice to try to pair up a Greek wine with a Greek dish and the staff is very helpful in this regard. Keep doing the good job you are doing!
Was not happy that they brought out the main dishes while we were still eating our soup. Could barely fit all the dishes on the table.
Disinterested service, cramped, rickety teeny metal tables you can’t put legs under and so cheap they fall over easily, don’t bother asking questions about the food because they can’t hear you and seem bothered you have a question, the music is absolutely deafening that your ears pop when you finally squeeze out of your seat and crawl through masses of people and angry rude wait people- the food though is cheap and very good- too bad going there is such a miserable experience- get delivery
It was insanely packed and overbooked on a Saturday night. There were 20 people waiting for their tables. All had reservations. I was told a 30 minute wait for my reservation after I'd already waited 10 minutes. It was packed to the point of being a fire hazard and they're honestly lucky they don't get shut down. I've been a fan since they were just a food truck, and I tell people to go there for a reasonable meal in midtown, but I will never recommend or go back again. They are unbelievably irresponsible, and really don't seem to care at all about their customer's experience or safety.
And if you're stuck on a place to go in the neighborhood - There's a La Esquina one block away.
Great food! Big portions.
Very reasonably priced. Tables are VERY tight.
Would definitely go back again.
Awesome Greek food!! Awesome experience!!
Food was delicious—space was a bit cramped
always amazing food the lamb chops are still the star for me this time we did the lamb chops as appetizers only thing wish the place was bigger and more wines on list
food was very good-seating AWFUL. Tiny tables close together. LOUD music.
The Lamb Chops continue to be amazing - staff is always welcoming
Food was amazing! Definitely get the 3 spread option for an app and get the spicy feta and eggplant. The pitas are so delicious. I came with my parents before a show and it was perfect! Felt like we were on the streets of Santorini. Can't wait to go back.
Cute lively place to eat good Greek food. Noise level is too high and tables are too close to enjoy conversation though.
Consistently good food. Had an amazing special shrimp burger. Delicious with whole shrimp and a perfect tomato slice. Tables are very tight in a very small space but worth the squeeze!
This is my new favorite restaurant! Delicious food, reasonable prices, convenient to City Center and Broadway.
But best of all is the always friendly and accommodating service. You are welcomed with open arms and made to feel special. And this is with a packed house and line trailing out the door and down the block! Everyone is terrific from the host to the wait staff, but we especially loved our awesome waitress, Aikateríni! So much so that a visit isn’t complete without seeing her now.
This restaurant is a must do! But be sure to make a reservation!
Great, fresh and authentic cuisine from Myknonos, so good I've been back here twice in one month!
what a great surprise. superb Greek food served promptly. tables packed in close so you will get to know your neighbors but it is worth it for the food !
Place is very small. Uncomfortable tables .
I felt very rush on service . I ordered the lamb burger . Too plain, not much flavor .
I believe there are better places in the city to eat greek food . I won’t go again .
Good luck .
SR Midtown is a small gem in the heart of the city, with Authentic Greek food the Lamb chops are my favorites and the green salads The moussaka is so rich and delicious the wine choices are not big but we did find a white wine that we enjoyed
the space is tight so if you can go early in the evening I would do that and then walk to whatever show you are seeing
A group of six youngish seniors tried this restaurant for the first time before a jazz at lincoln center concert. We all thought the food was excellent and the service prompt, efficient and friendly. For a restaurant in midtown (56th off 6th ave), the prices can't be beat. It is a cute place, but two things to note, especially for our demographic: it is very small with tiny tables, and quite noisy when full. And even before 6 on a Friday it was packed, even at the small bar. A definite recommend; just be aware of the space and noise issues if that's a concern for you.
Excellent food, and perfect portion sizes. Prices great for the value as well. It can definitely get a little loud because of the size, but a great meal.
Noise level is very noisy with added noise from unneeded piped music
Mousaka was not warm enough, but lamb chops were excellent
We ate here before and had enjoyed it . This time part of dinner was barely warm , and even though the appetizers were good ( though small ) my Gyro was the worst one I have ever had ... my local diners gyro was 10x better . Sad for a Greek place .
A few changes at Souvlaki GR since my last visit. They now offer a cocktail menu (always offered cocktails but I never knew what their specialties were). And a few staff changes which I'm a little on the fence about. I miss the regular hostess, but the new person is courteous and efficient - service good, food great.
The restaurant consistently has good food. However, it is very small inside. So, the night we went, it was just soooooo loud that you could not even hear yourself speak. Plus it was much too overbooked.
Casual setting, reasonable prices, REALLY GOOD FOOD! The lamb chops and Moussaka were EXCELLENT. Really good eggplant dip and hummus too.
Good food, quick service. It was a bit noisy and the tables were crowded together but the food was worth it. We were heading to the theatre so we appreciated that we were able to get in and out quickly. They don't have a bar and we weren't offered any alcoholic beverages but I was later told they serve Greek wine. I think they also had specials but we weren't told about them. The people who were seated next to us were given a second menu so I assumed those were specials. No matter, we liked what we ordered -- Greek Salada, Spanikopita and kabobs to share. It was just enough for the three of us. They only had one dessert (although I thought I saw other desserts being served at other tables), which was yogurt with honey and walnuts. It was also ver good. I am planning to return because it was good food and good value. I also want to know what I missed!
