Be ready to transport to Greece for 2 hours. The ambiance is definitely amazing, and the food is very authentic. I went with my parents who tend to have heavy taste bud, and we asked for ketchup. Long and hold, they didn't stock up on the tomato sauce because the taste dilutes the original flavor =)
It is all ways crowded, but food is good and tasty. Small and convenient to Carnegie hall.
I love Soulaki GR! One of my go to restaurants in manhattan. Amazing food and great staff!
Delicious and authentic Greek food, everything was very fresh, attentive service with a great cocktail list! Happy to find an inexpensive Greek option that’s not meshed with middle eastern cuisine (which I also love) but sometimes plain Greek is all you need!
Souvlaki is such a great bang for your buck! The ambiance is cute and warm, the food is great and the price is cheap. Highly recommend!
Incredible Greek food - one of the best meals my coworkers and I had on our work trip, and my go-to when I stay in the LES.
Nice neighborhood restaurant with a cozy Greek setting
Came with a group of 10 coworker's. Everything was wonderful. The food was excellent and the service attentive
Noisy and a bit claustrophobic.
Small chairs and tables.
Cold dishes were straight out of the fridge.
Good greek food in a setting which looks and feels like a greek street on one of the islands, even down to wooden chairs. wine expensive - it's greek not NZ or French!! would definitely go again
Souvlaki GR is a real gem. Authentic Greek cuisine in an authentic setting served by authentic people. Don't ask for ketchup with your fries - it's sacriligious.
Love the octopus!
We go to Greece every year and this restaurant made me feel like I was on a street in Mykonos.
The food was very good and authentic.
The staff spoke Greek and were very friendly.
We will go back....
Amazing scenery and the food is unbelievable. Spicy feta!!
Restaurant was exactly what you want for Greek cuisine, great decor, authentic food and great price point
I have been many times to this place. The food is quite good, not expensive and it has areally good vibe however this Friday I was quite disappointed with the service.
1. It seems that they didn't have enough waiters, so it was really hard to order anything form them.
2. They run out of every possible dessert so we couldn't have desserts
3. I forgot my credit card in the restaurant and they didn't try to reach out to me to let me know that they had it (I found out ~20 hours after I was there when I had to pay in another restaurant); I have left my credit card in other restaurants in the past and for the most they try to reach out to you ASAP.
Looks and feels just like a tavern in the Greek Isles. Fun and lively place with great food and excellent service. Our server Lula made great recommendations and took excellent care of us. Loved it all. Best to make reservations. We saw numerous folks get turned away at the door. Opa!
Amazing food and timely reservation. Will be back. :)
Fantastic hospitality as always. Special thanks to Roula for her lovely service.
The food was good. The service was slow. This place is tiny and it was packed, we were basically sitting on the laps of the people next to us. You had to move tables in order to get in and out of your seat. My food came before my glass of wine did, and I had to remind the server twice about my wine. I was halfway through eating by the time it arrived. The hostess was pleasant. It's a cute restaurant, but it was stuffed to the gills. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be for an average to large size person to eat there; my friend are I are both petite women. It's a cute place though, I'd definitely go back on a non-weekend night when it's hopefully more quiet and you can actually move without knocking someone else's meal over.
Really great food, we got the moussaka to share and it was enough for the two of us! we both felt like we were in Greece due to the amazing decor, will definitely go back again to try the other items on the menu!!!
I luv this place !!! One day I was walking around and saw this restaurant. I decided to walk in and try the food! Love at first sight! I recommend it! Service is great! Food is great! The place is so cozy! I always enjoy!
My cousin and I shared about 6 dishes and each one was delicious! The waiter was so friendly and gave wonderful recommendations. I can't wait to return with friends in the future.
Amazing service and food! The decor was impressive!
I LOVE going to Souvlaki Grill!! The food is delicious, especially the lamb. When I walk in I feel like I have been transported to Mykonos. I took a friend who had recently visited Greece, and she said that she felt as though she was back in Mykonos. It is a delightful oasis in the middle of East Village Manhattan. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Food was tasty but nothing special, and I love Greek food. Dishes were seriously overpriced to act as small plates (though they were small), and somewhat uninspired. Decor is cute but a bit kitsch, and the tables and chairs were cramped and unsteady. A bit disappointing.
I had requested a table for 11 and we were sat at a table that was more suitable for about 8 people. Given our proximity to the kitchen, it was incredibly hot and uncomfortable. I was a little embarrassed by how it all turned out because this was for a special occasion - my brother's 30th birthday.
Food came pretty quickly even though it was a busy night! Came here for the lamb chops - was not disappointed. Crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and flavorful.
I love this place! It's so cute - ambiance is great. Lighting, décor on the inside, people watching outsides...I wouldn't do anything differently! I'm a vegetarian and they had lots of great options. We did it tapas style - got almost all of the dips and then a few salads for the table. We all shared. Can't wait to come back again soon!
Great ambiance, good food and fast service
Try the octopus. And the spicy feta. Our servers were very friendly and accommodating. I look forward to our next visit.
Was like being in Mykonos or Santorini. Loved the fare but they should add some favorites like Moussaka and and grilled fish! Some fried haloumi and grapes leaves!!! Should warn people about the size of the baklava! We ordered three for 5 people and still had to take one home! Will definitely go back. (They forgot my fries -- did me a favor).
Even if you have a reservation, expect to wait at least 15 minutes if it's a busy night.
Celebrating a birthday on one of the first days of 90 degree weather and the A/C was broken! Still delicious and beautiful, but service was totally lacking! Had to ask for things a few times and often times our servers went missing...
Food was very good...but restaurant was extremely warm with no air conditioning.
If it is such a cute place!!! The scene/vibe was so fun!! The food was AMAZING. Started with the trio dip with pita, so phenomenal. The waitress was very nice and patient. I had so much fun there! It's good for date night or even just casually hanging with friends. Definitely recommend this and will be going there again! 🤗
This place really stands out on the street - it's almost like a tiny part of Greece in the middle of new york. I cannot rave enough about the decor - combined with a comfortable, cosy feeling. The staff is friendly and very patient despite being a busy place (caveat here, we went on a monday night). Now to the most impt part, the food - it was very good. My friend ordered the octopus which was a bit too overdone - but as soon as she told them, they immediately replaced it. I'm vegetarian and there were a few great options. The flavours were great - the pita was the only down-er, rather basic level. The dessert menu was rather limited, but after all the food we ate, we really didn't have space. All-in-all, a good evening out.
Incredible! That's the best way to describe this place. A coworker mentioned it to me, I gave it a try and fell in love. Lamb Chops are a must!
Salty taramasalata and cold entree moussaka!
Lovely decor, much like being in Greece, but the food is poor and expensive, and the servers are just not very interested.
