Convenience is the name of the game here not service or a meal that you would return for. While I am a guest at this hotel , other than the hostess who greeted me warmly , I treated very rudely by an inattentive waiter and have a breakfast that was best characterized as marginal .

The Breakfast buffet was fully Inedible. Eggs where dried out, sausage was hard as a rock, potatoes and bacon was subpar. Croissants where completely stale. Avocado Toast looked like the avocado was the leftover guacamole from night before, all brown and slimy. Waiter was unfriendly and unwelcoming.

Terrible food…old wilted lettuce and brown avocado. Dirty glasses were still on the table from the previous party. Terrible service, had to ask for water and remind them of basic things. Not friendly, did not greet guests and just looked the other way instead. Over $125 for extremely basic brunch dishes for 3 people… what a complete waste. The hotel is beautiful and I expected better.

Service was okay and so was the food. For the prices compared to other venues in the area, the branzino and gnocchi really missed the mark. Since when are gnocchi like Totino’s pizza rolls?

We went for a quick lunch. We had the first reservations at 12 when they opened and didn’t get our meal until 1:00. It was a simple sandwich and two tacos. Not sure when the issue was but if your looking for a quicker bite to eat avoid. The food was good. The prices did not reflect the quality though.

Beautiful and festive decor. Friendly staff. Buffet wasn’t quite up to usual standards. Eggs were lukewarm, disappointing baker/bread items. Great variety and freshness of fruit.

This restaurant was amazing!! The service and customer satisfaction is a priority. Our waiter made sure that we were happy with our experience. They treated us like royalty. Highly recommend spending a night enjoy the food and ambiance. Very family friendly. 😁🥰

As guests of the hotel, we thought grabbing a meal at the hotel restaurant would be easy and simple. Unfortunately, our waiter struggled to make that possible. After being seated and ordering drinks, including water, we waited several minutes to be served. It was so long that the hostess came over to check to see if anyone had taken our orders yet. We ordered an appetizer and our meals once our drinks finally arrived, knowing we would likely not see our waiter again for some time. Our entrees came out and we never received the appetizer we ordered. My husband made the mistake of trying to order another drink when our meals arrived, and by the time our waiter returned, we had been done with our meals for some time. The waiter said the bar was backed up, and we just asked for the check so we could leave. Food was fine. Easier, if you are a guest at the JW Marriott, to order room service. The service, timeliness, and quality is better and from the same restaurant.

Very strong smell of cleaning fluid on entering. Waiter brought garlic containing focaccia after being told of allergy and shrugged and walked away when questioned Food was fine- small portions for the price but nice view of park and not noisy

This was the weirdest dining experience I have ever had. The game was projected on the wall so we had people in fancy Thanksgiving dresses seated next to whole families wearing jerseys. Then the feed cut out so they played holiday music... until it switched to Disney's Frozen and then the creepy instrumentals of Nightmare Before Christmas. My glass of Meomi pinot was an exorbitant $24 and I paid $155 per person for a mediocre prix-fixe Thanksgiving meal with stuffing that was disgusting, and turkey that was good (but turkey is cheap), mashed potatoes, and green beans. The meal came with a glass of champagne, but they had already brought my red wine, and I had to ask THREE TIMES for my champagne to come out by the main course. I had already finished my salad. I would not come back here.

I made reservations months ago to eat here for 2022 Thanksgiving dinner. We were sat by an outside door where every time it opened we were freezing, every 10 minutes. Our waiter was rude, he did not explain the menu, did not bring us water then disappeared after our meal arrived. Never checked on us never refilled drinks at all. The restaurant WAS NOT busy. We had to ASK FOR A NAPKIN & Silverware to eat our $155.00 a person meal! We waited 30 minutes to get the check and I was told that I could NOT have a to go cup for my hot tea. With our Thanksgiving dinner came a glass of Champagne. Appropriate for my husband and I. NOT FOR MY 2 TEENAGERS THAT THEY SERVED Champagne too as well!!!!! Most disappointing and rude service I have ever had. So much for a nice dinner for Thanksgiving 2022. DON’T GO HERE!

Very nice hostess. My server checked in often but forgot my drink. An espresso martini is $30 which was off menu so I didn’t know how much it was until the bill came. My burrata salad with shrimp (no greens came with this salad) was $40

I had the salmon and a salad. Very tasty. Nice table however in the bar area. Very expensive but it’s NYC. Breakfast the next day was a much better value.

This restaurant offers a very peaceful and upscale atmosphere with delicious food. The staff was very polite and friendly. And this restaurant is in a great location right next to Central Park.

Nice setting, good menu and wine list and reasonable value but evening spoiled by the premature arrival of meals before even the first drink had arrived and while we were still eating a starter. Very little room to put the plates down and I took the risk of saying we were not ready and sent the meals away. I hate to be rushed and this was the worst example I have experienced. It seems to me that it shows the restaurant is not paying attention to detail or interested in the diner’s amenity but rather in the diner’s wallet and getting another diner seated asap. When we were ready to receive our dishes it took a while to get them and I would expect that where a diner has sent dishes back as premature there would be attention to such details. The dishes and wines were good but our overall experience was not what it should have been.

Unbelievable behavior. Total lack of any kind of management and reliability. We had a reservation for a large group. They never answered our questions. They were basically closed... They lied about the menu so that they can lure us into ordering whatever they had...and they were obscenely expensive for medium to bad food. Avoid at all times!!! We left and went to s nearby diner, much better, much less expensive, and extremely polite.

We visited the Southgate several times while staying at the Essex House and found the food and service to be wonderful. Great bar and brunch was delicious. Thank you for making our stay on Central Park just perfect.

We were seated at a small table near the bar that is appropriate for an appetizer and drinks but certainly not for a special birthday dinner. A request for a special birthday dessert was completed ignored. A mediocre meal with a high price tag.
