Southern Cross Kitchen
Great apps and drinks, great local beer menu, server was great as well
A great spot! SCK has it all - food, service, ambience.
Appetizers were off the charts. One was a special, lollipop pork chops, and the other was loaded tater tots. Entres were excellent. Will be back soon.
Consistently good food
Service was extremely slow. We were there for 30 minutes before we were able to place our dinner order. We placed an order for a second round of drinks that we cancelled as almost 30 minutes went by and they had not arrived.
The staff was all very friendly and our waitress was particularly helping with picking dishes! The overall vibe of the restaurant is nice and the outdoor seating area was beautiful - especially with the lights and flowers! Best of all, the food was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were large! Would definitely recommend.
Had a very good dinner at Southern Cross. Ordered a burger without avocado but got the avocado anyway. The place wasn’t crowded so stress in the kitchen shouldn’t have been an issue. Details are important. Appetizers were excellent; had fried pickles and catfish sliders. On the whole this is a very good eatery.
First time there and would definitely go back. Chicken and waffles was delicious! My friend had the fried egg and grits-also delicious. Service was fabulous—this is one of my new favorite restaurants!
Very good food and ambiance. Unfortunately, there was a party, so no live music for us when we visited.
Great food and great service!
Very poor table service took a lot away from the experience.
The staff was warm and welcoming, the food was even better. A great relaxing venue for good conversation and unwinding from the week!
Overall poor experience. Food is horribly overpriced for what is is. Ordered ravioli with short rib and got 3. 3 ravioli for $22! Server was not the best, overall not great.
New drink menu is solid! Always great food.
Great atmosphere and service
My birthday sucked. They don’t care for in house guests and prioritize caviar orders instead. Food was good but the place was empty and I wanted the front table and they would not give it to us and it’s unlikely we will be coming back.
Perfect location for brunch with the girls. Food and drink were just what we wanted.
This place is never a disappointment. Food and service are constantly good
Southern Cross was perfect for the occasion. The waitress was awesome. She was good with the kids and we were given a nice table out of the way with the kids. The food was good and there were options at various price points. Kids eat free here Monday through Wednesday and they also had half price wine for happy hour. To top it all off, there was quizzo starting at 7pm on Wednesday. I thought it was great.
The menu is very diverse-unlike many others in the area. Always enjoy their food and drinks.
I Love This restaurant!! The food is always great, you have to try the fried chicken, best I have ever had.
Great atmosphere. Not too casual but not stuffy. Food was outstanding. Get the short rib nachos.
The food was very good. Waitress was extremely pleasant. But the kitchen was backed up so we waited for our food.
Loved the guitar player!
Great atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Definitely a unique place.
Not sure what I was expecting but I left very disappointed. Nice place, a little small, food and service we're both mediocre to say the least. Nothing seemed freshly made as all my food came out cold to room temperature. Just wasn't pleased at all.
Simple and easy business lunch
Our online (Open Table) reservation gave us the upstairs "piano" table, which wasn't good at all for conversation. Food and service were quite good, but we recommend calling for a reservation and asking for a regular table. We were told it would be at least an hour from a different table.
The food was good and so was the service. They had a live musician playing and was very loud and hard to have a conversation with our group. I wish we would have known before being seated, as we would have moved to another location. We weren't aware that there was live music.
Rude staff, mediocre food
while I loved my food, our poor waitress was new, and perhaps needed more training before being put on the floor. it was loud, very loud. Reservation was for 11am, we left at 1230pm, so it was a bit slow due to folks being out for flu. I'd come back, but wouldn't book for another family meeting as I did; as I drove from DC to meet my sib/mom for breakfast/lunch, and really enjoyed my meal; so was happy. But service was lacking due to her being new. if in a rush, don't book a reservation.
Went to brunch recently with many out of town family guests. The restaurant was very accommodating to our group of 8. Excellent brunch menu with alot of variety. Fun affordable happy hour during brunch.
Hostess and staff very attentive, wanting everyone to enjoy themselves. We did!. Will go back. Great brunch.
Very unique place - not too many places above the Mason-Dixon Line where you will get true southern cooking like SCK!
Fantastic place for brunch on the weekends. Really cute ambiance and the food is to die for !!!
Good food and very good service
The only substantial drawback to my meal there was that there wasn't quite enough food for the price. But everything else was amazing. I had trouble figuring out which fantastic thing to choose, and I'm usually pretty picky.
Wonderful food and service. Parking in the area is terrible.
Low quality service and high quality food.
Just no. It started out when we sat down and a song from Alice and Chains was blaring. I don’t need to hear songs from the 90s playing loudly while I’m trying to have a nice date with my husband. The decor looked like Shabby Chic trying too hard. The food was substandard. I ordered the tuna tacos. They were cold and none of the flavors meshed. My husband ordered the jambalaya. It was basically shredded chicken in a red sauce with some rice. Our server was eager to please at first, but then abandoned us halfway through the meal. We had about three different servers after that. Someone else came and brought us a dessert menu. My husband and I decided to split the carrot cake and we ordered coffee. The coffee came rather quickly, and that was the only good thing about the meal. It would have been nice to have the coffee with the dessert. I finally had to flag someone down to find out what happened to our cake order. By the time the cake arrived I was so excited to eat it, given the disappointing meal I had. Unfortunately, I continued to be disappointed. The cake was cold and dry. There was some fresh whip cream on the side that was runny and also cold. Seemed like it was probably sitting for a while. I could not wait to leave. We had to flag down the waiter for the check. Will not be returning.
