Southern Cross Kitchen
Great atmosphere and service
My birthday sucked. They don’t care for in house guests and prioritize caviar orders instead. Food was good but the place was empty and I wanted the front table and they would not give it to us and it’s unlikely we will be coming back.
Perfect location for brunch with the girls. Food and drink were just what we wanted.
This place is never a disappointment. Food and service are constantly good
Southern Cross was perfect for the occasion. The waitress was awesome. She was good with the kids and we were given a nice table out of the way with the kids. The food was good and there were options at various price points. Kids eat free here Monday through Wednesday and they also had half price wine for happy hour. To top it all off, there was quizzo starting at 7pm on Wednesday. I thought it was great.
The menu is very diverse-unlike many others in the area. Always enjoy their food and drinks.
I Love This restaurant!! The food is always great, you have to try the fried chicken, best I have ever had.
Great atmosphere. Not too casual but not stuffy. Food was outstanding. Get the short rib nachos.
The food was very good. Waitress was extremely pleasant. But the kitchen was backed up so we waited for our food.
Loved the guitar player!
Great atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Definitely a unique place.
Not sure what I was expecting but I left very disappointed. Nice place, a little small, food and service we're both mediocre to say the least. Nothing seemed freshly made as all my food came out cold to room temperature. Just wasn't pleased at all.
Simple and easy business lunch
Our online (Open Table) reservation gave us the upstairs "piano" table, which wasn't good at all for conversation. Food and service were quite good, but we recommend calling for a reservation and asking for a regular table. We were told it would be at least an hour from a different table.
The food was good and so was the service. They had a live musician playing and was very loud and hard to have a conversation with our group. I wish we would have known before being seated, as we would have moved to another location. We weren't aware that there was live music.
Rude staff, mediocre food
while I loved my food, our poor waitress was new, and perhaps needed more training before being put on the floor. it was loud, very loud. Reservation was for 11am, we left at 1230pm, so it was a bit slow due to folks being out for flu. I'd come back, but wouldn't book for another family meeting as I did; as I drove from DC to meet my sib/mom for breakfast/lunch, and really enjoyed my meal; so was happy. But service was lacking due to her being new. if in a rush, don't book a reservation.
Went to brunch recently with many out of town family guests. The restaurant was very accommodating to our group of 8. Excellent brunch menu with alot of variety. Fun affordable happy hour during brunch.
Hostess and staff very attentive, wanting everyone to enjoy themselves. We did!. Will go back. Great brunch.
Very unique place - not too many places above the Mason-Dixon Line where you will get true southern cooking like SCK!
Fantastic place for brunch on the weekends. Really cute ambiance and the food is to die for !!!
Good food and very good service
The only substantial drawback to my meal there was that there wasn't quite enough food for the price. But everything else was amazing. I had trouble figuring out which fantastic thing to choose, and I'm usually pretty picky.
Wonderful food and service. Parking in the area is terrible.
Just no. It started out when we sat down and a song from Alice and Chains was blaring. I don’t need to hear songs from the 90s playing loudly while I’m trying to have a nice date with my husband. The decor looked like Shabby Chic trying too hard. The food was substandard. I ordered the tuna tacos. They were cold and none of the flavors meshed. My husband ordered the jambalaya. It was basically shredded chicken in a red sauce with some rice. Our server was eager to please at first, but then abandoned us halfway through the meal. We had about three different servers after that. Someone else came and brought us a dessert menu. My husband and I decided to split the carrot cake and we ordered coffee. The coffee came rather quickly, and that was the only good thing about the meal. It would have been nice to have the coffee with the dessert. I finally had to flag someone down to find out what happened to our cake order. By the time the cake arrived I was so excited to eat it, given the disappointing meal I had. Unfortunately, I continued to be disappointed. The cake was cold and dry. There was some fresh whip cream on the side that was runny and also cold. Seemed like it was probably sitting for a while. I could not wait to leave. We had to flag down the waiter for the check. Will not be returning.
Low quality service and high quality food.
The cocktails were very good. The loaded tater tots were worth the trip alone. I had the special surf and turf and the filet was cooked to perfection and the crab cake was mostly crab and so good. Mt friend had the fish tacos and was not as happy with her meal. Our waitress was very nice and attentive without being a bother.
Ate here for the first time and it was terrific! We ordered the monkey bread which I HIGHLY recommend. Their biscuits are yum and the monkey bread is made with baby biscuits. I ordered sides to make my meal. Having a biscuit was a bad choice bc of the monkey bread so I recommend one or the other. The eggs were farm fresh and the amount of potatoes was too much even for me. Perfectly salted. Coffee was also high quality. My friend got the chicken and waffles and said it was in her top three best ever versions. I ordered the jalapeño cornbread to go and it was almost flavorless which was disappointing. I can’t wait to go back and bring new friends!
Everything was great
Thought the food was just ok...very salty which leads you to believe they are spicing up average food.
Valentines Day date night.
Biscuits need to taste like someone's grandma is tied to the stove. These were overworked and tough. Take it from a real southerner, who was seeking a little comfort of southern home-cooking. The coffee was incredibly weak and barely warm. The service, though friendly, was slow.
Stopped in with my kids on the way home from a day trip in Philadelphia. Not necessarily a family dining experience but staff didn’t bat an eyelash when I brought my kids in there. Food was great and everybody enjoyed their entrées. Service was good, but we were upstairs in the corner so didn’t get the most attention.
Every time we go the food is amazing and a few times we have had T as our secvice and she is awesome !! 10/10 would recommend
The food, service and atmosphere were amazing. I will go back.
Kitchen got backed up and we waited 45 min for apps then entrees came right on top of them. Manager apologized and took the apps off of the bill.
Went for brunch on Saturday with 6 friends. Made a reservation online, they seated me right away and as others started struggling in the waiter made sure to continue to check in on us to see if we needed drinks.
The monkey bred-OMG!!!! Amazing. We ordered a variety of entries and everything came out as ordered, hot and in a reasonable amount of time.
i will defiantly be going back!
Disappointing tuna ‘special’ with what looked like had been a frozen tuna steak plain with pre made grill marks and a side of teriyaki that was a watery salty concoction with a side of uninspiring mash potatoes (that I asked to be replaced but was served anyway). Nacho appetizer had almost no chips and the service was fairly slow.
We had an awesome waitress who was fantastic at customer service and really extended southern hospitality to my wife and I.
Excellent! Definitely make a reservation for brunch. I did and atill had to wait. But definitely worth the wait :)
