Really great what they've done and nice to see a refreshing menu with some solid basics but some good things for the more adventurous. We hoped to sit outside but rains in the way of that. We are going back very soon. Loved the passionate restoration of the old building but keeping it's old, industrial character- was beautiful. We are going to sit outside next visit and looking forward to a kitchen seat, too! Well done!!!!
Great food. I had the steak with jalapeño cheddar grits. My date had the redfish. Both were amazing.
I enjoy visiting this restaurant and have had great food and service in the past. A little disappointed on this visit. Service seemed rushed, brought out main entree before we finished our salads, kept trying to clear the table though we weren’t ready. I’ve had the ribeye in the past and have raved about it, this time we each ordered the ribeye and all 3 steaks were very fatty and a lot of gristle. Very disappointed in the quality of the meat. I expect this to be an off visit and plan to return.
The best place in town hands down. I was personally greeted by the owner and had such an amazing time.
We were seated at a great table next to the open kitchen. Loved being able to see what they were cooking and watch the interaction of the friendly kitchen chefs with other diners seated at the kitchen side tables.
I love the pearl and wanted to try this place for my 16th birthday, I wanted to try something unique and different ( Which didn't meet those standards ) I can tell you me and my family were definitely not satisfied and had better food for a lower price some place else. I had such high standards for the half fried chicken which had no flavor or any seasonings, for being $23 it should have been so much better. And if you're going here to celebrate a birthday, they don't bring you any kind of special desert or anything. The most they do for a birthday is you pay for the desert than they throw on a basic candle. Would not recommend. But the atmosphere is really nice the only reason why I gave 2 stars.
A bit pricey for the atmosphere, but the food was terrific and therefore I would recommend to friends and family (as a special occasion meal). Service was fantastic, and in reference to the atmosphere, it was far noisier than I expected, since I made the reservation in order to discuss a business deal. Overall, my guest was very satisfied and enjoyed the experience, so I was happy. Thank you!!
I love this restaurant, delicious food, great ambiance and amazing staff.
We came for our anniversary. Having shared this with the restaurant, while our experience was nice, they did nothing out of the ordinary to celebrate us, refraining from even mentioning it once we were there.
We went here for our wedding anniversary and it was perfect! Love this place!
This was my second time going to Southerleigh and it was amazing both times! I highly recommend the crab omelette for brunch and the mudpie for an after dinner dessert!
I order a serloin and it was very tough. I expected much better quality for the price. I ate less than half of the steak, I ordered it medium well and it was served closer to medium. It just wasn’t worth the calories. The place is okay for drinks and maybe some bar food. I would not recommend it for dinner, however.
We met some special old friends for the first time in several years. They were in town for a long weekend. We wanted to take them somewhere special, with great authentic comfort food and an atmosphere that was appropriate for lots of conversation.
We were not disappointed! The food was awesome! Three of us had the fried chicken and my wife had the sirloin steak. It was all great! Pretzel for appetizer and carrot cake for dessert.
Service was great!
We had a wonderful time and will be back again soon!
Service here is choppy, we've been here a number of times and the waiters just don't care about the customer, plus there seems to be a lot of waiter turnover. Example: we arrived at 10:45pm on a Saturday night, ordered appetizers and entrees, when we were done with everything we asked the waiter about desert or coffee he said "oh the kitchen and coffee bar are closed now, I'm so sorry." While food and ambience are above average, service is consistently below.
Pork chops were overdone. Red fish, devil eggs, man n cheese and cornbread were on point
Food was great, but service was slow. Three of us had dinner on a Monday, restaurant was not packed. Multiple tables that were seated after us, received their food before us. They seemed to have a different server than we did.
Absolutely start with the antelope tar-tar and crusted red fish.
Service was slow. Bottle of wine that was ordered came out as we finished dinner. We refused it at that time.
Two of us got the snapper and it was very dry. My partner only ate half of it. The redfish though was amazing though.
Very good, a bit pricey for what you are getting. Good food, good service, interesting place.
My husband and I love the food at Southerleigh. Their shrimp boil, fried chicken, and crab mac and cheese are some of our favorites! The only 2 things I wish they’d improve upon is the lighting at night and table sizes. The space is huge and the lighting is minimal. Great ambiance, except at night. When it’s late, it’s a little hard to see the menu or your family or friends while eating. And if you’re dining as a couple, the dining tables for 2 are VERY small. Barely enough to hold two plates of food and one thing Southerleigh doesn’t do, is chintz on food! They really gove you a super ample portion. These gripes are minor and won’t stop my husband and I from enjoying this great restaurant!
The service was great and the food was amazing. I had the pork chop I ate it all
My wife and I arrived a little early for lunch and were seated promptly which was easy since we were the first ones at the restaurant for lunch. We have eaten at Southerleigh several times in the past and always enjoyed it. This time we both ordered the cobb salad. It arrived fairly quickly and was tasty, but in my opinion it was a little skimpy on the chicken, egg, avocado, blue cheese and bacon and excessively heavy on the amount of lettuce provided for the meal.
The server was friendly and attentive and we really like the early industrial decor.
We will be back, but will probably not order the cobb salad again.
We came as a bachelor party and were playing a bingo game that the staff (waiter AND managers) helped us cross off squares on. They were fun, friendly and made the experience amazing. Food was great too which was a major plus!
We had recommended this restaurant for a birthday celebration. Everyone enjoyed the great food, the fish throats are a must have. The fish entrée seemed small for the price, but was delicious. Our waiter was excellent and very knowledgeable on menu and history of restaurant.
Would highly recommend to everyone , this was our second time will definitely be back!
The food was wonderful! Art was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We enjoyed every aspect of our experience!
Food was delicious. Southerleigh's is my current favorite restaurant in the Pearl!
The rib-eye steak with the mushrooms/onions was excellent. Best we have ever eaten! The king crab was not what we are use to. Like fresh steamed/boiled crab legs with drawn butter. Missed being able to have a mixed drink, but the steak and mac & cheese made up for that!
This is a very lovely restaurant… I was disappointed that some of my old favorites were not on the menu… But it’s always good to be improvising with new items. However I feel there is not enough variety – – the carnivore (Unless you wanna gigantic ribeye) Could use more small bites… But the food is the fresh & Superbly presented
The food was great but we had some of the worst service we have ever experienced. Multiple portions of our order were incorrect, and the waiter was not attentive in the least. We didn’t have a refill the entire time we were there.
All-around great place to eat!
Ryan our server was fantastic. There is so much uniqueness; in the food, atmosphere, and architecture. We always have a great experience every time we dine here but Ryan made it exceptional!
We loved this place so much that we went twice over 4 days!! Lunch and brunch were both amazing!!! Can’t wait to go back!
One of my top places to eat in San Antonio. The food and the beer is so well done.
Good food, great service, really enjoyed the froze and ham Benedict
I wanted Fried Red Snapper Throat, it wasn’t available but website didn’t indicate it would not be a menu item. Just listed rave reviews about the dish.
I had Redfish with crab, it was okay and pricey for okay. Sides went cold as soon as they hit the table.
Great ambiance great service and red snapper throats.
One of our places at the Pearl. Service and food are excellent!
Food was good, service was good. No complaints
