Located in the old Brewering Association Building, Southerleigh was named after the prevailing Gulf breeze and the Texas coast’s proud sense of place. Southerleigh serves Chef Jeff Balfour's modern take on Texas' cross- cultural cuisine. The on- premise brewery will offer a rotating array of original recipe, craft batch beers from Brewer Les Locke.

Waitor was super friendly and knowledgeable of products. My side was forgotten. (Hot greens) so that was sorta lame. I probably was charged for them too. Other than that super enjoyable

Husband and I went here on a Sunday night. Unfortunately, the restaurant was out of several menu items (some of them their most popular - one was the only reason we came to the restaurant) - hence my rating about the food. Our server was very good and given the menu limitations, the Manager comped our drinks - which we appreciated. The atmosphere and location is great.

This was our first time here and it was amazing! A little pricey but it was our anniversary and absolutely worth it! Would highly recommend!

The snitzel on the menu was superb! Three in our party of four ordered and all enjoyed! The server was top excellent! She is the sort of person any establishment would be glad to have in a customer facing environment.

This is my third brunch here and each has been a little more disappointing than the first. Service was decent...perhaps a little absent because we didn’t order cocktails. Food wasn’t bad, but not outstanding either. It also wasn’t hot which is a shame.

Only negative about it was that the brunch menu is limited, however, the food and drink choices are all wonderful and at very affordable prices for a higher end restaurant. The ambience was wonderful and the service was amazing, with our waitress taking it above and beyond what was expected.

My fiance and I frequently dine at Southerleigh's. The food and ambiance are stellar. The one issue we consistently come across is fair to poor service. In the two-dozen times that we have dined there, we have had terrific service no more than 3 times. The rest of the time has been fair, and this last time was absolutely poor. They sat us and we had no waitress assigned to us. The waitress in the adjacent section noticed and gave us some water while we waited. About 12 minutes in I informed the young ladies at the front counter and they spent a good 5 minutes looking for someone to cover our section. The waiter, Antonio, was nice but should not be in the food service. It took over 30 minutes to have our first beverages served. He would disappear several times for up to 10-15 minutes each time. When he arrived we decided to give him our complete order. We arrived at 1:45pm and by 3:15 we were still waiting for our appetizers (shrimp and oysters). Eventually by 3:45pm our appetizers and our dinner arrived at the same time. Essentially, our waiter was no where to be found. People who arrived at other tables around us who were served by other servers received their food about an hour before us. We love Southerleigh's and we go back because of the food and the space. However, as I have mentioned repeatedly, the service is lacking. They need more training in communication and public relations, and in hospitality; they need more training on the menu in general, and time management. The food and the ambiance can only keep us coming for so long. Something needs to happen with service or they will continue to lose repeat customers and I'm not sure if the restaurant can survive with only visitors (perhaps it can and if that's their goal, then they have nothing to worry about).

This is the go to place for date night for my boyfriend and I. He cannot eat a steak anywhere else because he constantly compares it to the ribeye, which is AMAZING!! We always order two meals to share. The RIBEYE is a must and this time we ordered the Cracker Crusted Gulf Red Fish as a second entree to share. It’s a mild fish with blue crab on top sitting in the tastiest white sauce. It did not disappoint at all. Our go to sides are the jalapeño corn bread and crab mac and cheese. Unfortunately the menu has changed some so the crab is now an extra $5 to add to the mac and cheese, but for us, it’s a must. I recommend this restaurant to everyone looking for a great meal or a good place for a date night. The atmosphere is great and the in-house brewed beer is even better!

We absolutely love Southerleigh and eat there often for lunch and dinner. We had a chance to the kids and finally catch the brunch menu this last Saturday. We ordered just about everything available just to try the items we’ve never had lol. The Eggs Benedict, 44 Farms Chili, Chicken with egg sandwich, and everything else was superb! We’re always amazed at the service and food, and will continue to dine there as often as possible!

My fiancé and I took my editor out for dinner last week. When she complimented the GM on his Holiday jacket, we had a delightful conversation. (With his French accent, we could have listened to him talk all night.)
He made the perfect drink suggestions, and my food was delicious, as was my editor’s... but my darling (who said nothing at the time) told me that his Whole Flounder was terribly over-cooked. I know if he had said something, it would have been remedied immediately.
Their coffee and carrot cake were “merveilleux!”
We enjoyed the atmosphere, and I look forward to returning just for the champagne!

I can't say enough good things about Southerleigh. My husband and I were in town for a conference and got a recommendation to visit The Pearl, with several restaurant recommendations. Southerleigh was the restaurant we picked and I am so happy we did, though everything looks great.

Our waiter, Ryan, made the experience so fantastic. You can tell he really is inspired by their beer selection and food options. He went above and beyond to share information about each beer we tried, and was able to share exactly where all the the ingredients came from. We are foodies, so this added a lot of excitement to learn about their local sources!

We had the fried snapper throats (highly recommend!), beets and goat cheese, cracker crusted redfish & shrimp boil. Everything was superb. The shrimp boil is spicy, so skip this is you have spice sensitivity. We were so full, we didn't have a chance for dessert which was super disappointing because everything sounded good!

Major props to Ryan!

Always great food and large portions. We had the fried chicken this time. It’s the tastiest and juiciest fried chicken we’ve ever eaten. We added shareable grits and green beans, which are both good, to round out our meal. Their beers which are brewed there are pretty awesome too and nice and cold.

Small menu.... We sat outside... It started warm in the sun then got cold... should've asked for the patio heater to be lit.. Food got cold fast... The crab mac n cheese seemed too al dente light flavor..green beans over processed but good flavor...we ordered the red fish it reminded me of Lubys breaded fish but with a better sauce.... Shrimp cocktail was good
... Great waiter ..super nice kid Tony....not into sandwiches so may try the dinner menu next time....more options..... I totally forgot to take photos

Food was great. Location with lots to do before and after. Went for lunch, lots of people talking loud. Service very good, food excellent. Not a place for children, noise carries. I'm sure evening are very good. Walked on riverwalk after. Worth it!

Wonderful redfish preparation. Menu has changed, no crab macaroni and cheese, so be aware. We had a very reasonably priced lunch. Extensive and interesting selection of house brewed beers. Great place to stop when you are at the Pearl complex which you definitely should visit!

As always, I enjoyed drinking at Southerleigh. Our waitress was phenomenal and she made our kids day when she shared dough with them to make their own pretzels. I was equally excited as the kids. The drinks were great and the food is fantastic. Being from Louisiana, its good to have a spot with yummy food that's actually seasoned. We will be back next Sunday for brunch again.

I loved the ambiance of this venue. The food was very tasty also. The service was not very good. We sat in front of the kitchen at a special bar. We were largely forgotten and when we did get services it was sporadic at best. This place only has a beer and wine liquor licences so dont expect much in the way of drinks.

Good central rallying point to meet for excellent beers and food. Unique decor, quality service. Almost always vibrant and noisy. We meet friends there regularly ... as long as we do not need quiet conversations.

Service was very good. Dinner menu is rather expensive for comfort food. Would be nice if there were some more affordable options such as a burger or fish tacos especially for the residents in the Pearl area that dine regularly.
