South Park Café was extremely accommodating - we had reservations for 6:30 and arrived later than anticipated (almost @ 7). moreover, unbeknownst to the Café, we added another diner to our party. The staff and kitchen remained unfazed and added another plate. In spite of the fact of our rudeness (arriving so late), service was warm, courtesy and professional combined with the excellent food. It was a memorable evening for all. Everyone in our party plans to revisit for future events - Thank you South Park Café!
What an amazing find tucked away on South Park Street. The staff was very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of, and the food was amazing. Despite the name, the "pig salad" was light (frisee salad) and flavorful with a generous portion of pork confit mixed in. If you're not a vegetarian, I highly recommend this salad - you won't be disappointed. For the entree I had the salmon and my dining companion had the braised beef "en daube" - both were excellent. We're definitely looking forward to our next visit to South Park Cafe and would highly recommend it to others as well.
Great neighborhood restaurant. The food is excellently prepared and consistent. It is a gem.
This was a dinner before seeing Cirque du Soleil with my girlfriend. The place was empty when we arrived at 5:30. We were promptly seated by the window and the waitress politely took our coats. I was disappointed to see that the duck breast I had heard so much about was no longer on the menu. We ohad a couple glasses of champagne and ordered from the price fixe three course. She had the baked goat cheese and enjoyed it but did not finish the bed of greens. I started with the pig salad which was remarkable and I devoured everything with the mustard dressing.
Her main course was the beef tenderloin and I had the rabbit. Both dishes were very well prepared and very flavorful but we had to order more bread to fill out the portions. We were both feeling like Cab so we split a bottle of the A.Raffinelli. It was perfect. I have no problem spending $75 for a bottle this good. Dessert was cream puffs and bittersweet chocolate sauce for her and date Armagnac ice cream for me. A good end to the meal. The restaurant never really got busy while we were there so it was very quiet. The service was polite and friendly and we got to shake the owners hand on the way out which was a nice touch. I would recommend this place for a special occasion but don't expect the duck!
Located in a lovely neighborhood. We were greeted warmly for our reserved time. Service was well-timed, non-intrusive. Varied menu with a pre-fix menu option a bargain ($45) for San Francisco. Good wine list.
The three course dinner at $45 is the best buy in the city. Ward is a great chef. So many goo dishes, including the rabbit, duck, rack of lamb, and did I mention the hanger steak?
We appreciated the ambiance of this restaurant. Service and food was excellent.
The food was excellent as was the service. It is a small restaurant with authentic French food and all 6 of our party found items they liked. I had the rabbit and it was delicious and well prepared. The servings of the main courses were large. None of us had room for dessert.
Ward Little is the hardest working chef in San Francisco who consistently turns out finely-crafted bistro meals that respond to both French tradition and West Coast sensibilities.
The front of the house staff operate the dining room calmly, patiently, but efficiently. They fluidly connect the craftsmanship of the kitchen to simple elegance at the table.
We love the South Park and have had many memorable meals there, special and for weekends out. Lunch is good too.
Table was ready at the time of the reservation. Service was great without being intrusive. The food was exquisite and the ambiance was cozy and inviting. Absolutely no complaints.
We headed to South Park before Cirque du Soleil (sticking with French theme). Our waiter was super delightful and got us out with plenty of time to make it to the show. He paired us with the perfect wine and we were all satisfied with our choices. We haven't been here in a long time so it was nice to see that this gem is still great and not crazy expensive.
We are consistently delighted with the menu, service, quality, atmosphere and price.
we were a party of 6 who dined here last night before the cirque show at at&t park. seated immediately. told our server we were going to the show, and she made sure we were done in plenty of time (which we were). my wife and i had the fixed price $44 menu, a bargain for sf dining. i had the ahi appetizer, wife had the scallop salad, both excellent. my main was swordfish which i thought was excellent...my wife had the lamb chops, and from what was left on her plate (not one crumb) i think she enjoyed it as well. for dessert i had the profiteroles, she had a special coconut ice cream, both very very good. nice short reasonably priced wine list (we had a very nice carneros pinot for $55. we requested separate checks as our friends were not wine drinkers and our server did not bat an eye (unlike some other restaurants who give you a hard time if you ask to split checks. noise level very tolerable (we had a nice table in the back). overall i couldn't have asked for a better dining experience, from the excellent service to the delicious food, and we would not hesitate to come here again. give this place a try-you won't be disappointed.
Hadn't been back here in many years. Everything was wonderful. Great service. Rabbit and duck were delicious. Great care taken with the veggies. Only down was cappuccino not very good-coffee bitter & milk was all air.
We came with some out of town visitors before going to Cirque de Soleil. We all enjoyed our meals!
The food and service were excellent. The tables are a bit too close together however; other than that everything was fine.
The rustic French cuisine was artfully prepared and of high quality. Our server was very attentive, friendly, and easy going.
My wife had the hanger steak with fries and I had the rabbit with garlic mash and carrots. My wife is not a fan of saucy foods, so she didn't feel the steak needed the sauce it was in. However, she still felt the food was high quality and skillfully presented. My rabbit was perfect for me.
The wine list was not ridiculously lengthy. The wine selection was quite good and fairly priced for an SF restaurant. The server's suggestion was a great accompaniment to both of our entrees.
The dessert offerings were delicious and just the right size.
Four of us went there after an event at AT& T Park. Easy walk to train. Food delicious. Good value on food and wine. Will definitely return.
Nice little local restaurant with some very good food, and lots of local flair. The service was lacking on this night, and there were a couple tables of extremely loud diners. Made the experience less than stellar in my opinion. The other tables were so loud that we couldn't hear each other across the table. Unfortunate. The food on the other hand was very good. Well presented, and flavorful. There were several tables of obvious local patrons, as the owner, who is behind the bar, seemed to know them. I like that in a little enclave such as South Park (area).
my wife and I have been dining here for at least thirty years. just a solid, reliable place for a delicious, quiet, comfortable dinner.
Food and service always wonderful at South Park Cafe. An enjoyable dinner before theater. Always new items on the menu to try. Great!
Lovely evening with impeccable service.
Remarkable food; good value; great to have as a neighborhood restaurant...
Another lovely dinner at South Park Cafe! My husband and I have been dining here for more than 20 years - and in recent years more regularly. South Park is always delicious, always a relaxing time and a great place for having another couple join you - or recommendation for out of town clients yearning for that classic French menu and ambience - as far as possible from Union Square or yet another ear-splitting barn of a SOMA restaurant. Stay classy, South Park!
Everything we had was outstanding!
Excellent as always with great service! Food is always consistent, and our waiter was great!
Great location, tucked away in a little corner of the world. Intimate space. Romantic. It is loud but still can have conversations. Food is delicious and easy to share. Parking can be a challenge.
4 of us friends got together for my birthday and hadn't been to South Park in many years - when used to work together, a few blocks from there. It was wonderful to revisit an old favorite and we enjoyed the whole experience. It's not alud place so we could all be in the same conversation. Food and service were terrific.
South Park Cafe is a stand by restaurant before theater (when AT&T Park is quiet). The food is always first rate, it is a little French bistro type restaurant with novel, fresh ingredients prepared artistically and tastefully! They have a prix fixe dinner that is a real bargain and as the restaurant sits alongside a hidden gem of a park in the big city - it is always interesting and most enjoyable! Like a hidden treasure!
Excellent all the way around! Hidden gem in the city: food and service were sublime. Had halibut which was served piping hot. Salads was delish. Really had a great evening!
We love this restaurant. Also great for a good dinner before Giants games
Food was delicious. My meat was cooked to perfection.
Food is consistently delicious.
Great ambience and decor, great neighborhood, lovely food, perfectly prepared, good variety, excellent service and, amazingly, our favorite wine on the wine list.
Service and food were excellent. Highly recommend South Park Cafe.
Always enjoy dining at South Park. Parking is convenient, food is exquisite and ambiance is elegant and romantic. My favorite for over 30 yrs!
I have been twice to the South Park Cafe. It is a hidden gem, on South Park, near my company's SoMA office. It features unpretentious, nicely presented French cooking. They offer a solid prix fix menu, which is another draw. I look forward to many meals at the South Park Cafe on future trips to San Francisco.
The South Park Cafe is a Parisian Bistro in the South Beach neighborhood of San Francisco
We eat here frequently after SF Giants games. It's very convenient and we've always had excellent food at a very reasonable price.
