South Park Cafe is tucked away out of the bustle of the nearby ballpark and city noise. The food is good, well prepared and fresh. I enjoy the duck salad regularly and have never had a meal that lacked in any way. The current servers are friendly and helpful - more so than in the past. If you haven't tried South Park in a while, I would recommend another try.
Great food and service in a friendly neighborhood restaurant
went out with my wife on a date. It's a nice smaller restaurant. Food was great and service was great. We had a wonderful time.
We've been eating at South Park Cafe infrequently over the past years. The other night we were a party of 5. It was delightful for 2 of us to sit outside pre-dinner and have a drink looking at the beautiful oasis here in SF. Our food was delicious, our server fist-rate, and it was quiet -- in part because it was surprisingly not even half full. This is a special place for SF diners who value an alternative to the omnipresent high-ceilinged, conversation-deafening, over priced places that end up replacing gems like South Park Cafe. Now that we've been reminded how much we like it, we'll be going back soon and hope our fellow city dwellers will too!
Initially I found this restaurant while looking for a parking space. My first thought as I stood outside and took a whiff of cooking was "Too bad I already had dinner" - So I resolved to return the next time I was in the area. That opportunity was a G&S Musical at the Yerba Buena Theatre - My wife and I were quite pleased to find my initial estimate of this place was spot on.
Over the years I've had a lot of dinners at this neighborhood gem but I hadn't been in a while so I was delighted to find it virtually unchanged when I had a recent early dinner there with friends on their way to catch a flight at SFO. The food was outstanding (pig salad and the boudin were particular table favorites) the service attentive and the space attractive. I'm making a note to get there again soon!
I feel like I'm in Paris when I dine here, at a small neighborhood restaurant. My rack of lamb and coconut sorbet were magnifique! Service, ambience, and food all wonderful.
Two of us had rack of lamb which had a delicious sauce French sauce.
The others had halibut which was excellent. The noise is low so its easy
to enjoy talking as a group of four where nobody has to shout.
Consistently delicious! Mussel soup was terrific. The pork salad was a wonderful surprise recommended by our server.
Service was excellent and friendly. South Park is a gem of a neighborhood
After we left we were wondering why it took us so long to try South Park Cafe! The food was wonderful. The pork confit salad, warm goat cheese salad, blood sausage and sea bass were our choices for the evening and they were fantastic! Plus, the restaurant is located in the charming South Park which makes it a great neighborhood gem overall.
Southpark Cafe is one of those rare restaurants tucked away in a cool, out of the way spots. You pretty much have to be local to know about it. Intimate space, great food and service as if you were a local regular.
Wine list isn't long, but has enough solid wines to make a good selection (like Gigondas). Same for the menu. I had the rack of lamb, and everyone else enjoyed their plates, smoked salmon, mussels .
Meals are made with great care and talent, and are priced as if they know you.
So please, don't spread the word to loudly. Just keep this to yourself...
Went here on a spur-of-the-moment trip to SF for an evening, my what I find! Close enough to cal-train to walk, adorable scenery surrounding the restaurant, and very quaint and romantic feel, what more could you ask for?
Try it! The food is delicious and the pre-fix menu is a great value, we met a couple who has been dining there for over 20 years!
Always great food and ambience, I always feel good there.
Great place. We go there regularly and it always feels like and event.............at small event but very nice. The location is unusual for San Francisco. Food is good, not spectacular, but consistently decent.
