Tasting menu outstanding

We had the 5 course tasting menu, every item was very good. The wines that accompanied the food were well thought out and also very good, including a very tasty basil margarita. Service was excellent across the board. Not an inexpensive meal but definitely worth the splurge. We did note that for a tasting menu the portions, both food and drink, were quite large - not a complaint, just a comment! Overall, highly recommended.

We sat outside on a beautiful evening. The noise level was perfect and the service was on point. Our appetizer of bbq octopus was spectacular, a must have! The entrées left us longing for something more. The brisket was on the verge of being dry and lacked flavor. My wife had the meatballs and they lacked any sense of flavor. The warm bread served with dinner was wonderful. Dessert. Oh dessert. We had the bananaoffe and the nectarine and raspberry crumble were absolutely Devine. We couldn't have asked for better dessert. Had our entrées been just as delicious we would have given it a 5 star.

Love the food and service at South End. Creative and delicious brunch and lunch offerings. I have yet to go for dinner but the menu looks great, Very attentive wait staff. It's become one of my go-to for get-togethers!

The food, as always, was outstanding. I really enjoyed my burger and everyone else in the party enjoyed their food. The service this time was not good. While admittedly one member in our party wanted too many modifications to his order, the server took a fairly negative tone and ultimately did not get his order correct. I also ordered my burger without the bun and it came with the bun, which is usually not a problem, but all of the good condiments were spread on the bun, so bun removal wasn't a great option. Additionally, the bus person started clearing plates while a member of the party was still eating. The restaurant wasn't crowded so it wasn't a matter of us needing to leave.

The food is always outstanding and the service is generally good, but there have been some times where the service hasn't matched the food.

I love South End, best restaurant in New Canaan and CT. I had some family in town visiting for the weekend and they enjoyed dinner so much we came back for brunch. The service is perfection and food is the Amazing!!

We chose this restaurant for mother's day brunch. The food was delicious and they were able to easily accommodate my son's dairy allergy. We will definitely be back.

I would have rated the South End higher but our waiter explained that on weekends, he couldn't put in an appetizer order first and then followed by our entree order. He needed to have the complete order at one time. If I'm spending time catching up with friends, I don't really want to be rushed like that. Otherwise, the food and ambiance was great.

Been here five or six times. Food is consisnetly good but service is consistently choppy to poor. Hovering is off putting and lack of reading the table is even worse. Need to make a training investment folks.

The place was prefect for a get together with some friends and our kids. Clean, modern, casual. The food was good, with some unique items, as well as, your staples: burger, salads, etc. But overall nothing to write home about, and a bit pricey. Although it is New Canaan; so I wasnt surprised. I would redomend to a friend for brunch or a nice lunch.

Excellent food in a modern atmosphere. Our waiter was excellent on a night when the kitchen was a bit behind. Overall a very positive experience particularly the food which was delicious.

Good food... very noisy! It has a very happy hour food because it’s sooo noisy...

Service was consistently weak. Some examples: They were slow to take a drinks order and then they took an extended period to to come from the bar. Perhaps fifteen minutes at our table before we had cocktails. We asked for salt and pepper with our meal...the waiter walked away without saying anything then came back and dropped off pepper and then walked away before we could ask again about salt. He returned about three minutes later with salt. (He should have simply said, "I will be right back with the salt," but instead left us guessing/presuming we weren't getting any.) Overall, the service had a decidedly unprofessional feel and it seemed like the waiters had too many tables.

Food was average...not bad, but by no means notable.

We had four courses and every single dish was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was very good without being intrusive. We were seated on time and it was simply a lovely evening start to finish.

Loved the food and ambiance, but it was way too LOUD, could barely carry on a conversation to even those next to me, felt like I was shouting all night!!

Good meal with good friends! We arrived on the early side for dinner and by the time we left the place was packed. It does get very noisy so ask for a booth in the back. Service was very good. Nonna's meatballs rock! Salmon was good, chopped salad and the lamb chops. Appropriately staffed for a busy restaurant. Will return!

My friend checked her coat on a Sat night when it wasn't busy, and when she went to retrieve it after dinner, it was missing. The hostess acted as if it was no big deal and begrudgingly took my friend's name and number to call if it turned up. It's been 2 days and it hasn't turned up. I understand that mistakes happen, but I would expect her to at least apologize and try to fix the problem!

The plating is excellent, and the taste is superb. Wine choices, by the glass, are excellent, and the place looks great; however, it could get really loud, even in the dining room, which is only separated from the bar by a half-wall.

Not a great place for special occasions or a quiet romantic dinner, but in every other way, it's an excellent restaurant.

NON Valentine's meal on V.Day. Great service and wonderful bartender. Great steak frites (both hangar steak and NY strip) and tuna poke. Great atmosphere for every day or special.

We used to go to South end very often a few years ago, so we decided to go again. The food and service was excellent. Great wine recommendation by the waitress Orsi. She was very nice and helpful. We enjoyed the fish dishes. We also introduced this restaurant to some friends. Will definitely go again

Consistantly excellent. Always fresh raw bar, Great Chicken, Tune Poke, Specials, Creative and Fresh. Cheese and Meat plate to start with a little Vino !

Never disappointing. We stopped in for a quick bite after a holiday open house and ended up only getting a few small plates. We got clams, grilled octopus, meatballs and risotto balls. All delicious! It wasn't very crowded which made the noise level a little better.

Perfect in every way. Great menu, interesting dishes both main and appetizers, wonderful service. Nice place to enjoy a quiet meal on a weekday night.
