to invite you to try the rustics pies and a nice glass of wine.
Mario and his staff were very welcoming and accommodating! Made for a special night and the food was so tasty. Worth the wait!
Solid night 🤙🏼
Rob our waiter was fantastic!! Knowledgeable, tentative and adorable!!!
We love Mario and the entire staff. They are always gracious and kind. The food is great too!
Cute for a date night but it's a tight squeeze. The wine list is a little pricey for what you get but the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Overall it's fun for a sip of wine or quick dinner but not a regular hang out.
The pizza was amazing.
Didn’t have such a good pizza in a long time.
Mario was awesome....thanks for the wine tip
Good food and wine but they fooled us with the tip. We asked to split the bill in half for my friend and me. They did that and we both have 20% tip. Turns out they charged us both 20% for the entire bill so we gave a 40% tip. I’m not a fan of places that intentionally fool customers like that.
Great service and great food!
We had the Spring Mix Salad, Crostini Appetizer and Boardwalk Pizza....simply amazing!
Such good pizza and wine! Loved the vibe, will definitely be back.
Best pizza, vino and service on the Westside! My #1 place to go in Venice!
Weird spot far from the nicer end of Abbot Kinney - but best strip mall pizza you can expect.
Great food as always!
Bullied by management when the waitress messed up my order...by far the most uncomfortable dining experience of my life!
Definitely the best pizza and wine in the Marina del Rey area. A bit hectic all the time so be sure to make reservations. Excellent staff and super kitchen staff.
Atmosphere, food, wine and service is all spot on. Best pizza I’ve had in LA, possibly ever.
First the restaurant, located in a strip mall, was very tiny. The pizza was really good with a unusual selection. Not your standard pizza. The beer was somewhat cold. However, I like a really cold beer. Concluding, I guess it was a bad night the fryer was down. Delaying our food order. The way to go maybe order take out.
Had an incredible dinner here, Mario is a wonderful owner. I’d recommend south end to anyone
Nice cozy atmosphere for a great experience. fresh Italian ingredients call for some good dishes and the chef knows how to use them. Good Selection of Italian wines. grab a salad, nice bottle of red, a pizza and you cant go wrong.
Love this place! Their food is always so good. Highly recommend the burrata ball & salmon costini as an app. All the pizzas I've tried there have been delicious. My only complaint would be the noise level, it was a touch hard to have a conversation with more than one person.
This is my favorite place for pizza on the Westside! Or any side for that matter. So fresh and delicious. Great sexy vibe.
Mario and Enzo are as authentic as they come! Gluten-free. Yes please. Best GF pie hands done! Trolleyway and the Kinney are my favs! So good!
So much fun! Crowded and noisy with great food. Just a nice vibe. Sat at bar, and had the pleasure of getting our own personal wine tasting before dinner.
Great pizzas, salads and wine!
I've been to The South End twice. Both times I came away thinking this could be my neighborhood hangout!
Best pizza in LA, and their gluten-free crust is pretty unbelievable as is their wine list!
Great! Always delish and free wine while you wait!
Great pizza and wines. Very friendly service. Wine selection superb. Pizza creatively done. Small seating area.
Great menu with incredible pizzas. My only request would be for more comfortable seating and more practical tables. The interior needs to be refreshed to accommodate guests more comfortably. Mind you I did have my infant with me, but even when my husband and I first explored the location when I was pregnant I still found the high top metal chairs uncomfortable.
Super tight fit but also kinda dig that about this place. Pizza was good
Had to wait over 20min for a table regardless of my reservation. Service was awful, it was never clear if we actually had a server or just a busser cleaning tables, so I had no idea who to tip (not that a tip was earned, but I left 15% anyways). Table was so small there was hardly any room for both the food & drinks. The restaurant was so packed that people we're constantly running into us as they walked by. Pizza was decent but overpriced for the small portion sizes. This was my first time dining here, seems to be a very popular place with a cool atmosphere. But I won't go here again.
The food was fantastic but the restaurant is small, cramped and noisy. That said, it’s all worth it for that delicious pizza!
It's a small restaurant with not much seating. They took my reservation for 6 but couldn't seat us for at least 45 min. Luckily we only had 5 people because there would not have been room for a sixth.
Service was a bit off. We had a reservation for 6pm on a Saturday. When we got there we asked to sit at a certain spot but were told they had another (bigger) reservation so we couldn't. A few minutes later, another couple walked in and got seated where we asked to be seated (they were not part of the bigger party). Hmm, weird. We ordered two pizzas- The Cabrilla with added mushrooms, very good and The Kinney but sub vegan cheese. The Kinney came with regular cheese so they kindly took it away and apologized but brought us a regular vegan cheese pizza on gluten free crust... not what we asked for. Too much cheese, crust not very good but my boyfriend ate it (he'll eat anything). We finished, they asked if we wanted anything else, I said we might get another drink and the waiter said "Well, we need the table but you can drink outside or in the back waiting area" ... so I guess we weren't getting another drink. The spot is cool, the Cabrilla pizza was very good so we'll give it another shot and just not order anything with vegan cheese (no cheese instead).
The food was authentic and great for pizza lovers, service however was lacking. I had a reservation and was left waiting in the doorway for 30 minutes while open seats were available. I finally approached a server and asked why I was being ignored, she sat me at a communal table only to move me to a bar counter 5 minutes later. Once I was seated, it took a bit to get the attention of my server to order. Overall, the food was lovely, however service was disappointing. I would like to try it again on a different night, perhaps this was just an off evening?
This is my favorite restaurant of all time. If you like pizza and wine, you need look no further than South End.
I started coming here back in 2017 before I moved to LA, and this place is a true gem. I came here to often that I ended up falling in love with the surrounding area and choose to live in the same neighborhood. South End is completely unassuming, located next to a nail salon behind a gas station. But you walk inside and it's like you've walked into Italy.
The pizza is literally the best pizza I've ever had, and I've gone all the way to Naples to search for better. The crust is a traditional thin sour dough crust, but they've improved on tradition just enough to ensure that it stays crispy for every single bite, even right in the middle. The wine is exceptional and not too pricy.
But at the end of the day, I think it's the people who run the place are what make it so special. Mario is the Italian owner, and the friendliest guy ever who always has a taste of a new bottle for you at the end of a long day. Sam is an incredible bar tender, wine connoisseur, and fast friend. She can pair your pizza with any wine based on what you like.
Anyway, I never write reviews, but South End has become a little home away from home for me. They always have love for me and mine, so I'm sharing some love for them.
We arrived on time and were seated an hour after our reservation. When we complained, the host told us any good restaurant in LA would have kept us waiting a long time after our reservation because that’s just the way it works at busy restaurants. They gave us a glass of wine while we waited but that’s not good enough for keeping us waiting an hour and insulting our intelligence. Too bad because the food has always been good here.
Good and service was great. The noise is crazy, though.
Nice casual mellow
South End is always a great experience. The owners and staff are amazing!
