Walk right off the beach to try our extensive raw bar, a wide selection of wines and beers, and our signature Pickle Martinis garnished with house-made local veggie pickles. Our original cocktails also bring a refreshing start to a summer evening. After dinner, don’t miss the extraordinary desserts.

South Edison Ratings and Reviews
Nice Restaurant with fresh seafood dishes but don’t let your guests sit in too dimmed light. Reading the menu & seeing the ingredients on the plates was a real challenge & spoiled the dining experience a bit.
We had the fish of the day with lentils & zucchini squash as one of 3 entrees (excellent). On top the seard tuna entree & the pork chop entree with an additional side of truffle fries. The fish & tuna & the calamari (our starter to share) where really good. The pork chop was mediocre- at it’s best - not well cooked & covered with tons of cheese. The dessert - carrot cheese cake - was something you don’t find everywhere but it wasn’t a really successful combination. Rather serve carrot cake or cheesecake and keep it simple and don’t overtax your customers palate. Don’t get me wrong - it’s a good restaurant but it really depends on what you order.
I would not return to the restaurant. Noise level was extremely high. Two different wait staff asked the same questions on 3 occasions. The scallop entree was $35 & had 3 scallops & little flavor. The squid in the tacos was tough & very salty & the wine pour notably small. Overall an unpleasant end to a Sat in Montauk.
I was expecting more seafood options, however the sea bass was perfect and the rest of the meal was not overwhelming, so my choice of "fish of the day" was 5-stars. My son follows vegan diet, and he was able to find few items for himself; specifically he was so impress with roasted cauliflower that we had to go next night to order it for him again. Meanwhile, $29 for a half of cauliflower bunch, even roasted, seems to be an overpriced deal.
The ambience of Montauk is very special. I'm glad this place carry it in full.
We chose this restaurant based on reviews of Montauk restaurants on Open Table while on an impromptu weekday getaway. So glad we decided to try it! The food was beautifully presented and delicious. I had the seared red yellowfin tuna and my husband had the vinegar braised crispy chicken. Amazing bursts of flavor on our plates. And our waiter was great, too! We will definitely be back.
How can the food be good but leave a bad taste in your mouth? Dumb & rude service. For example, they brought the lobster but it took 3requests and 10 min to get the lobster kit. Or my fav misstep,we asked for lemon for the lobster and she brought lime. When asked she explained that the lemons were sliced so she brought the limes because they were cut into wedges. That's right. She brought the wrong ingredient cut into the correct shape rather than the correct ingredient cut into the wrong shape.
Probably the best dining we had in Montauk. We really enjoyed the tuna starter, oysters, and sea bass entree. The ice cream sandwich was also delicious. As amazing as our meal was it seemed like there was a little problem with the seating in regards to how many tables were assigned in our waiter's section vs. other sections so it took quite a long while to reorder drinks or dessert etc. I would still recommend this restaurant to everyone bc the food was just so good.
Ordinary flavored food. One entree as not described on menu(bone in does not mean fried). Manager did not know how to have a conversation with a table who did not like their food. "Can I do something for you", puts the pressure on the customer. Suggest... let me bring you a glass of wine. Can we get you a dessert on us. Or, nothing at all is preferable to the awkward realization that food was ordinary at best, and disappointing. Maybe just caught kitchen on a bad night.
Food is good, not amazing. My daughter had vegetarian option, one vegetarian entree-it was ok, fresh veggies, but nothing special. My husband had steak and fries. Steak was over cooked, mushrooms on plate had no flavor, fries were good. I had a salad...way too much dressing...greens were soggy. Catch of the day, striped bass was fresh, but also lacked flavor. Vegetables were fine, again, not memorable. Service was reasonably good. Appetizers came out quickly, but lengthy wait for entrees and restaurant wasn't full. This was my third time eating at South Edison. First time I had the eggplant pasta...there were three small pieces of eggplant and sauce tasted like it came out of a jar. Honestly, the only reason to go to South Edison is that you can always get a reservation unlike many of the restaurants in Montauk on a summer weekend. The food is nothing special.
Thanks very much for honoring special request for a quiet table.
Really appreciate that.
Bloody Mary was undrinkable. Spice level extreme. Waitress tried to
get another but it was pre-mixed. Suggest that kitchen has
some tomato juice on hand to possibly solve this issue.
Noise level out of control. Could barely have a conversation.
The restaurant came recommended by our hotel staff. We ordered octopus tacos, large oysters, buttermilk fried chicken, fish special (fluke) and truffle fries...
Tacos were soggy and fell apart before we even grabbed them. I wanted large oysters, instead we got the tiniest oysters I've had, fried chicken was doused in salt and fish was very dry on a bed of uncooked beets...
We complained and sent back the entrees, so only charged for appetizers.
Others may have had a better experience, but for the price, it certainly wasn't a good experience at all. May have been an off day, but we won't be going back.
Four of us ate at South Edison last Saturday night. When we arrived it was still somewhat quiet, and not very crowded as it was still early. We were seated promptly (we had reservations), and our service was also prompt. We started by ordering drinks and raw oysters for the table. Our waitress returned shortly after that with our drinks and to take our dinner orders. Not long after, our entrees arrived, and when I asked what happened to the oysters our waitress left to check on them. From what I saw, she probably never put the order in. 15 minutes later, a quarter through our entrees the oysters arrived. So we now stopped eating the main course and took time out for the oysters, which were quite good. But we had expected to have them prior to the main course, and we had ordered them with plenty of time for that to have occurred. I know that everyone makes mistakes, but I wish the waitress had at least been honest and told us she forgot the oysters as we would have skipped them at that point. But we didn't even have the opportunity to make that decision once she realized the mistake and rushed off to correct it (or maybe she did put in the order and the person shucking oysters forgot, we don't really know). So because of this minor issue and how the whole dinner seemed a bit rushed, it wasn't as enjoyable as it could easily have been. Especially because the food itself ( I had the fluke), was really well prepared and delicious. Overall still a very good meal and we will go back.
South Edison is a great hang with a nice buzz to it. Remember going here years ago when it was Caswell's. Updated the place nicely with a crisp simple look, without losing that authentic Montauk feel. Great beachy vibe with tasty food. Not too over-the-top like the way some other Montauk places have become. Go there and have some fun!
The food was good. We were not disappointed. It was a little pricey, but what isn't these days? The menu listed about 6 or 7 entrees, which is a good thing. The ingredients were fresh. However, we thought there was too much effort into making the food "different," i.e., too many unusual ingredients and combinations. They are trying too hard. I admit, we prefer plain, good food. We got the "good," but we didn't get the "plain." We consider South Edison one of the better restaurants on Montauk.
