South City Kitchen Vinings Ratings and Reviews
Truly awesome. I was very impressed with the quality of food, the prompt and courteous service and the ambiance. We went in, we're promptly seated and ordered a great meal which included the fried green tomatoes. Wow. This alone is worth it, but we ordered more and were pleasantly surprised that it was all very delicious
only issue was with the valet service in a downpour; instead of having valet parking at a distance they hoard all the parking in front of the entrance so if you have a special needs issue you are obligated to park at a distance and this is very inconsiderate when you are "shooed" away from open parking spaces just a few feet from the entrance in a very rainy day and have to go a relative long distance and walk back to the entrance in the rain making me nearly abandon the thought of dining; on a nice day..... a non issue but is was not a nice day; inside though it was a lovely experience delightful service and food and perhaps the valet experience was made worse because once we overcame that hurdle the rest was perfect!
My husband and I have visited South City Kitchen a few times, but this time was the best. Upon arrival, we were discussing the reservation with the hostess. (I couldn't remember if it was in my maiden name or not) My husband made a funny comment, in which I informed the hostess and I think maybe the manager that we just got married two months ago and the transition into my new last name is not as easy as expected. To make a long story short, the recommended meal and cocktail were AHH-mazing! The steak was cooked to perfection and not many restaurants serve Brussel Sprouts, so winner! But to top it all off Sarah (perceived manager) stopped by with an AHH-mazing dessert to congratulate us on our recent nuptials. She was so kind and sincere, the dessert was really good; devils food cake, angel cake, mousse and other delicious things stacked on top of one another.
We truly enjoyed our experience and always enjoy the staff, the ambiance and the delectable gouda fritters (our main attraction) as well as the complimentary southern cornbread and biscuits! We will definitely be back soon.
The host & our server were very friendly. Cool that the host knew some sign languages to communicate with us. Fresh biscuits & corn breads were very good. We had 2 she - crab soup bowls, 2 Georgia Mountain Trout freekeh, summer squash, chutney, chive vinaigrette, 2 Irish Coffee powers irish whiskey, lavazza coffee, whipped cream with half & half on sides, 1 Cappuccino with half & half on side & 1 ice cream. We requested no hot spicy but all were little spicy due to lot black peppers. we were disappointed no salmons & we were told that salmons were for brunch. Baby Carrots and Peas were not good. Peas were field peas, not peas.
We will not go back cuz it is not for us to eat spicy foods & lot of black peppers foods.
those coffees were good. maybe go there for coffee?
Pretty restaurant, clean
This was our first time dining. We normally come to South City Kitchen for brunch, but found the dinner menu interesting for our anniversary. Everything (except the field green peas I didn't care for) was delicious! Our server Will, was so helpful with my wine selection and explaining how the duck is prepared. This is the best duck I've had in Atlanta! We will definitely return for dinner again and of course for brunch.
Very disappointed they did not carry Tanquerey gin! That should be a staple in any bar.. South City Kitchen is a stopping point for my husband and I on our way from Ohio to Florida. Food and service were great but absence of my favorite cocktail was a real bummer. They offered me some home grown Watershed gin from Columbus OH (ironically where we're from) but it was not near as good. Every other restaurant we visit in the Smyrna/Vinings area carries Tsnquerey gun!!! Please get some so I can come back!!
Disappointed only with our server. She wasn’t personable, but it wasn’t because of her personally. I got the sense that management is so strict on being able to describe the menu/wine list that it makes it tough to have any kind of personality.
Additonally, we were there for our anniversary. I bout a bottle of wine which was brought to the table just after 10pm. We enjoyed the full bottle together and noticed towards the end the staff was a little frustrated as we were running past closing time. I get it, but as a recommendation I wouldn’t sell a full bottle of wine with 30 minutes to spare and be upset when you run past closing time.
Food was great.
I have always enjoyed South City Kitchen, both in Midtown, as well as Vinings. The restaurant is so loud, it is hard to carry on a conversation. The food has definitely gone downhill. We either didn’t eat, or finish, any items we ordered.
Will definitely not return. Too bad, as I so use to enjoy, their shrimp and grits!
I was born and have been raised in the South, so I have had plenty of amazing Southern "classic dishes." South City Kitchen Vinings took those classics to a whole, new, exceptionally delicious level. The guests dining with me are Swedish, so it was wonderful for them to experience elegant, yet traditional, Southern cuisine. Or service was impeccable! Bridgette was extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu, and she was able to answer each question we had in great detail. I cannot wait to return myself, and I will certainly bring along friends, family, coworkers, and out of town guests!
We have taken visitors from out of town and overseas to SCK-V on several occasions to give them an experience with "southern" cooking - always with success. Our Japanese visitor on this occasion enjoyed fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits, not to mention a good Georgia beer.
This was the first time we have eaten brunch at SSK and boy it didn't disappoint! The service was outstanding, the biscuits were sent from God above, the she crab was delicious but it could've been a littler warmer, the crab cake was heavenly, and the shrimp and red mule grits were off the chart. By the way Red Mule are the only grits ground using "mule power". I did a story on them years ago and I finally got to taste the fruits of their labor.
