South City Kitchen Vinings Ratings and Reviews
Great experience, took my fiance here for his birthday. The handcrafted cocktails were unique and absolutely delicious, and the food was unreasonably awesome. The sauce for each dish, even the sides, was incredible and perfectly paired to the dish. Great spot for foodies! Atmosphere is more casual than I'd expect for this caliber of restaurant though. Aesthetically the scene was exactly in line with what you might expect (modern, chill, sexy) - it was the demeanor of the employees that was oddly casual in contrast to everything else.
I'd go back in a heartbeat, though, especially for that friend chicken entree and gouda fritters!
We ate here this past Friday with another couple and had a mostly pleasant experience. The food was good and the wine list was well represented with some of our favorites. This place is extremely noisy and our waiter kept taking items off our table without asking assuming we were finished with them. For instance, he took my girlfriend's cocktail glass away even though she was still working on it, I told him what he did expecting the drink to be replaced but it never was. He also removed some food items without asking which was very annoying. They have a dress code posted but it does not seem to be enforced as I spotted some customers wearing jeans and wife beaters on the way out the door. Not so sure I will be back, lots of other places to choose from.
First, this was a very special occasion since my parents were visiting from out of the country celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and this was their last day in town. Unfortunately, I took them here with my son after reading a few yelp reviews. Most likely I will never revisit this Smyrna location again! We attended the Sunday brunch after church and despite the restaurant not being too crowded as it usually is on the weekend, the waiter came almost 15 mins after we had been seated. We were served our drinks and he took our order without apologizing for the long wait. We had each ordered a bowl of the she crab soup. It took another 25 mins before the soup came out. This is when it all fell apart. The soup was served cold and the small ball of crab meat that was placed in the center of the soup was chilled as if they had just scooped it out of a container in the refrigerator. We were disgusted and canceled our food order immediately. We requested the check and headed over to Copeland's in Kennesaw for a much better Sunday brunch (at least the soups were served hot). I've resided in Smyrna for more than 20 years now and I particularly like to support local businesses so it pains me to see South City Kitchen fail to provide satisfactory basic customer service and meet minimum customer expectations. This was one of the worst dining experience I have had in Smyrna and I was embarrassed to have had my parents who visit infrequently subjected to such service. I hope South City Kitchen - Smyrna improves and live up to the expectations of their partner restaurants.
We had family in from out of town and needed a quality brunch spot near our home in Marietta and the Vinings location was ideal. Everything about our brunch for seven was too shelf, including Mother Nature's cooperation (we sat outside on a Sunday in July without the fans blowing and no one had so a much as a bead of sweat on them). We tried a little of everything on the brunch menu and also snacked on the crab toast and the basket of breads, butter and jam. It was an excellent dining experience and our family from the Midwest is already talking about making a return trip the next time they are in town. Awesome overall experience with food, drinks and topped off with that pineapple upside down cake! 💯
South City Kitchen was amazing! All the dishes were amazing. The hot food was hot and the cold food was cold. Usually when ordering chicken and waffles, the waffle comes out cold, but it wasn't. The atmosphere was very nice. The music wasn't too loud such that you couldn't hear the person sitting across the table. The restaurant was clean as it was apparent that the all the staff was purposeful in keeping it this way.
Jay was excellent with explanation of complete menu and readily available to assist without being overbearing. He assisted in making it a lovely evening.
The menu selections from charcuterie to chicken livers to catfish were awesome. Another of our party had the filet -excellent.
The fried chicken as "advertised"-not to be missed. The wine list fair with chardonnay selected not too buttery and Duckhorn merlot savory. We all shared a warm peach
Cobbler w vanilla ice cream. Our 6 month old grandson had his first taste of ice cream and loved it!
Tomato bisque and she crab soups were outstanding.
All in all a wonderful experience.
We'll be back!!
Kevin our waiter started out our evening wonderfully. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and spoke very highly of the food offerings and made wonderful suggestions for my husband and I. I had the fried chicken and my husband had the fried fish-everything was delicious. I highly recommend and will be returning.
We had a great experience at South City Kitchen. It was my wife's birthday and we made a reservation for 8 people for brunch. Our table was ready on time and the service was quick and attentive. I had the chicken and waffles and my wife had the shrimp and grits. Both were excellent. Highly recommend this place.
The South City Kitchen folks do it right. Great food, great ambience, great servers. The manager was very attentive. In July, they have a Tomato Jam where they use fresh tomatoes in many of their dishes! It is a great time to dine there. We were celebrating a birthday and they made sure that we felt special. Highly recommend!
This was my husband's 73rd birthday. It was a party of six (wife, two daughters, granddaughter, and son-in law). Everyone in the party had an awesome experience. The general manager and the servers provided excellent service. We'll definitely be back, and will recommend to family and friends.
