South City Kitchen Vinings Ratings and Reviews
Excellent choice for Valentine’s evening meal. It is so nice to go to a restaurant and be treated so nice by the staff. Food was delicious and we will be going back again with friends very soon. Perfect date night restaurant. Excellent value for amount of food served.
Solid food with a southern heritage in an upscale setting. Finding better fried chicken anywhere in Atlanta would be a challenge. On this visit I tried something new: the Nashville Hot Fried Catfish. Excellent dish. The service was also excellent as were the cocktails.
Came for brunch on my wife’s birthday. Overall food was pretty good. My daughter and I had the chicken and waffles, and they were good. Son had the kid’s chicken tenders and fries, which were good. My wife had the salmon & quinoa salad, but it really less of a salad and more salmon resting on top of a couple pieces of kale. So that was a little disappointing. Wrapped up brunch with dessert, and my wife had the carrot cake. Then to end brunch, my server overcharged me by charging me for the other tables brunch. So don’t know if they got off with a discounted meal.
I heard very positive things about South City Kitchen. I really hate that our experience wasn’t quite as positive (especially since it was our first time there and for my wife’s birthday) as what we heard from others.
This is my 3rd location SC that I've visited. Its a go to me for with out of town guest who are looking for a match between ambiance, good food, and quality service. This location offers complimentary valet (tips appreciated). I made a reservation(I recommend to do so), I was 3 minutes late, so I called ahead and the hostess was quite nice (Mia I believe was her name). We were a party of 7, I think one of the servers was in training and she wasn't as speedy as I would've preferred. Our main server was awesome. He could sell the menu with his eyes closed. A guest of mine, said what Io was thinking to him... You have a great personality - hopefully he is working towards a great career. The food was good. I always order the Mt. Springer Farms chicken dish. It was fresh. All of my guest were please. One of the children asked me to get them a gift certificate for their birthday from here. Looking forward to visiting Avalon next.
The most important part -- the food was good -- we had redfish and a trout dish. Both were very good. Not outstanding, but no complaints at all. However ...
When we first arrived the hostess was completely non-responsive. When she did acknowledge us, it was just to look at us. No "good evening" or "welcome" or any expression like that. We felt like we were an annoyance to her.
The dining room was very loud.
And the main course was brought much too quickly to the table. We had not even finished the salad which we split, so not even a full salad each.
We came in with an infant and a toddler. They both broke down despite our attempt at an early dinner. The manager not only intervened in multiple ways to keep us and other diners happy, they also comped our drinks after observing our stress, commenting, “looks like you could use a break.” Wow, what hospitality and generosity. Definitely a top 5 destination for us. Thank you! Oh, and the service and food were amazing.
Outstanding food, super attentive service (someone was right there every time a refill was needed) and wonderful ambience make this place a family favorite. Entrees we ordered were the trout, pork chop, and shrimp & grits, all of which were A++ scrumptious and beautifully presented. The shrimp and grits were the best we have enjoyed at any establishment, anywhere, ever. Go!
Our server was very friendly and a pleasure to work with. As always, the food was excellent. I wish the crab hash was on the menu like it used to be. That was a great signature dish for day and evening. It was a little loud in the Vinings location and I usually prefer the Midtown.
Came here for brunch on NYE. This is my second time visiting. I enjoyed the cranberry mimosa and ordered the Springer Chicken and Waffle; the food here is good! Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. They offer complimentary valet parking which was great as it was very cold. I’ll definite be back again. The menu is a mildly priced for traditional brunch items but the food is worth it!
I had an enjoyable dining experience there this past Sunday which had a bustling crowd for Sunday brunch. My only regret is that the kitchen ran out of collard greens! This is the South! You can't run out of a staple on a Sunday! The kitchen tried to make it up to me by offering a side of stew. I declined politely and asked for the kale salad. That was sufficient but I still missed the collard greens. The trout was SUPERB and I will definitely get that again the next time I am there. Please keep that on the menu and keep collard greens in stock.
I used to frequent the South City Kitchen Vinings restaurant often until I felt that the food quality started declining. I've gone for brunch and ordered the chicken and waffles. the chicken was lukewarm and not crispy more on the Soggy side. I just recently went and ordered the lump crab cake hash. the hash was horrendous. I could not identify what was the potato what was the ham and some other object that worked over cooked and over-seasoned. the crab cake was mushy with no lump of crab visable. I had to send it back and it came back the exact same way. Horrible. I have also visited the South City Kitchen in Buckhead and have a much better dining food quality experience with the dance exact dishes. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the Vinings location due to my last two experiences. The staff was very friendly however.
