Brunch was delicious. I love this place for brunch and for dinner and have been going regularly for over 15 years. Unfortunately our server kinda ruined it for us today - sent a private note to the restaurant - mostly just felt very throughout the meal even though there was no wait and plenty of empty tables.

This place has evolved a little over our time in the area, especially picking up a few specifically Southern and Cajun influences, but many old favorites remain. The cocktails are creative and appropriately strong, and the preparation of the Wagyu beef cheek and fried chicken were very good. Try the Carrot Cake’tini - unique and tasty.

We ate three appetizers: (1) Deviled Eggs. Flavors in this appetizer improved. We could taste the jelly and other garnishes. Good appetizer. (2) Fried Green Tomatoes. This appetizer was nicely cooked. Amount and texture of breading was spot on. Good dipping sauce. (3) Chicken Livers. This appetizer was delicious, full of flavor. It is different and memorable. It was a slight bit salty this time, but not so much that I could not eat it. We both had the chicken breast entree atop greens and mashed potatoes. The restaurant is still executing this entree in a flawless manner. Both chicken breasts were flavorful, juicy, and tender. Greens and mashed potatoes were delicious. Roux / pot liquor was tasty. Rolls and corn bread were delicious. We did not rate the meal a 5 this time because we waited over 25 minutes for the dessert we were planning to share, the rhubarb and strawberry cake with ice cream. After waiting so long, I asked the waitress to cancel the dessert. They voluntarily comped one of our appetizers.

Food was very good but service was very disappointing. Was loud and somewhat hard to carry on a conversation. Have had much better experiences at other SCK locations.

South City Kitchen - Vinings is a busy restaurant. The food is great southern cuisine and the restaurant is typically very busy. We had a new waiter who was very good, but was still learning. My only critique is the noise level; if you want to have a quiet conversation, it can be difficult. That said, again the food is excellent, the environment active, and the service is superior!
