South City Kitchen Midtown
Dine on local specialties such as shrimp and grits, buttermilk fried chicken, she-crab soup, fried green tomatoes and banana pudding while enjoying the view of our exhibition kitchen or the Atlanta skyline on one of the best patios in the city.
This truly is dining the way the New South intended. (Please note, the restaurant is not handicap accessible.)

The chicken with collards greens and mashed potatoes was outstanding.
Daniel was a great server.
The acoustics in the restaurant are so poor that you can hardly have a conversation at your table. The bar next door does not help the situation, with its constant rap music with thumping bass. The bass from the bar next door ruined our dinner - it was miserable!! I’ll never go back.
Best she crab soup in Atlanta. Excellent service was provided, as usual. My favorite Atlanta restaurant.
A gem in midtown
Great food and place for brunch! Would def recommend this.
Pablo was our outstanding waiter! Great dinner & evening!
Everything was great especially our server, he was amazing!
The food was awesome as usual. The service was great and they make you feel very welcomed.
Excellent food. I still can’t figure out how they make collards taste so wonderful.
Went for a birthday lunch with a group of 10 and had a great time. Our waiter was super friendly and accommodating, letting us eat and enjoy each others company without feeling rushed. The food was great - though the crab cakes came luke warm compared to the rest of the dishes. Also - the chosen one (gin + other delicious things) is a must.
Excellent brunch place to take an out-of-towner!
Fantastic as always!
I have been to South City Kitchen several times over the past 20 years and think they have become somewhat over rated and over confident about their success. While still good, I think they have lost a bit of their charm and the food in no longer exceptional.
Our Sunday Brunch was excellent starting with the spicy bloody mary, followed by the pimento cheese appetizer, sampling of the she crab soup, followed by the eggs benedict with pulled pork, and the shrimp and grits. Had no room for dessert. We sat at the bar and the ladies were attentive to our every need.
Amazing brunch!! Fried green tomatoes are a must !!
Awesome food and great services
A simple grilled cheese sandwich arrived dark black on both sides. We requested that it be returned to the kitchen. We asked for another. We should not have to ask at this level. The second, replacement sandwich was dark brown on both sides. The child was hungry so we kept it. The child rightly pointed out that we could have made this better at home. It seems that someone was asleep in the kitchen or has never made a grilled cheese sandwich before. Too bad for us.
Yet another fine establishment. Andy was great and the food was excellent.
Dorian was an excellent server. We had a very memorable meal! Thank you
Get the crab cake! Its amazing
Rude seating staff, mediocre food and so loud you cannot have a conversation with the person across your own table
I loved the food so much. The waitress was awesome as well.
The restaurant was nice. Went in a big group and it seemed as if they were trying to rush us the whole time. Ruined the experience for us as a family. We probably wouldn't go back for a family dinner.
I wanted the chicken salad, but it wasn't ready so I ended up getting the soup/salad combo. The she crap was amazing as usual, but the Cesar salad was so overdressed I couldn't eat half of it. I wish the chicken salad had been ready at 11:30!
Delicious Food!!!! Excellent service - worth a second and third visit!!
The food just wasn't what it used to be. I enjoyed the salad dressing, and the salad I had was very good, but the meal that my friends had, just would not make me want to go back again. Their food just did not good very good at all.
Consistently good lunch spot with a good range of choices.
Great experience ❤️🙌🏾
With the exception of an extremely noisy party, the atmosphere was enjoyable. The She Crab soup was delicious as were the chicken livers. My wife’s fried chicken was ordinary as was my fish.
The table service in general was outstanding and our server (Andy) was both personable and extremely professional.
Upper floor too noisy for conversation
AMAZING! Sat on outside covered patio. Fried green tomatoes with goat cheese best I have ever had. Fried chicken, shrimp & grits, pork chop & vegetable dish all fantastic. Hard not to fill-up on buttery corn bread & biscuits. Side of succotash was so amazing my vegetarian friend asked for the recipe & they actually emailed it to her. Thanks for a special evening.
We checked in approximately 11:43 with the hostess; at approx 11:53 I received the "no show" email from Open Table. While service is usually top notch, today it was slow, the servers seemed distracted, we waited about 10 minutes before some came to take our drink order, and later a server tried to clear our table with food still on our plates. Something was just "off" here today.
Great service and food. Every one was kind. Also love the rewards program
Food and everything else was very good! Waitress even brought a dessert for my son’s birthday!
Hostess was rude. Server was great, but experience was bad due to first impression. She told me my party was seated upstairs. I told her I didn’t know them and asked what table they were at. She said just go upstairs and you will see them. Not helpful. I asked if she could show me. After dramatic sigh and eye rolling, She took me upstairs to the wrong table!
We loved the fried chicken and biscuits! So tender and flavorful! Our server was also top notch. Professional but also warm and personable. My best friend and I were in town for a girls’ trip and it was our first Atlanta experience and this was a great way to wrap up our trip.
We had brunch on Sunday morning. The food was solid but quite pricey. We were upstairs and the noise level was out of control. It was hard to have a basic conversation which made the whole brunch seemed rushed.
Jenifer was a great waiter and recommended several outstandingly choices.
