Phenomenal food. Outstanding service. A favorite when coming through Atlanta.
Wonderful food and lots of variety on the menu. Service was very friendly and checked on us frequently, though the food came out a little slowly. The patio is fantastic for nice weather, we had a great time!
Food was spot on & cooked to perfection. Service was above and beyond expectations! Chef stopped at our table and gave us a rundown of items we thought were very unique. Thanks!
Food is good and not overrated like you might get a lot in this area. Take it from me.
Our waiter was amazing!
Always good. Service magnificent. Food delightful.
Perfect as always
Waitstaff made the experience
As usual our go to for out of town guests did not disappoint, we know that we can count on the food being very tasty and us not being disappointed with our choice! Yes we will be back!!!!
First the positive. It smells amazing as soon as you walk in the door! Every plate we saw pass by us looked so delicious. South City Kitchen is in a converted home and the door / greeting area was super cramped and not easy to get into with people waiting. We went for Sunday Brunch and was taken up the tight staircase and seated way in the back. It was very loud so conversation was a bit tough. They only have one restroom for the entire restaurant and it is on the second level - lines blocked the staircase. We were told when we sat down that alcohol could not be sold until 12:30 pm which is something that should be posted on the website for people that are from out of town. All in all, the food was very good if you know all the the in and outs, it is worth the trip
Great southern cooking with a modern flair that upped the flavor and experience.
Great fun food! Everything was delicious; hard to pick a favorite and my party of five tried 10 things! Plus cocktails. Atlanta is across the country from me, but I am plotting to go back so I can eat here again.
True taste of the South. The fried chicken, collard greens, pecan pie AND Witford whiskey were soooooo good!
It was so loud we could not talk with each other; everyone in the upstairs room. was talking very loud or yelling. My food was cold and not edible. The waiter noticed immediately I was not eating, took the food away but did not offer to bring an alternative. She did come back and said “you were right, nothing is worse than cold biscuits and gravy”; she went ahead and charged me for the meal anyway. Very disappointing experience; have always recommended this restaurant.
It was really loud. We ended up hurrying up to finish eating, just to leave it was so loud. Such a shame when the food was so good.
Delicious take on comfort food. The fried chicken was juicy, tender and the batter for chicken was perfectly crispy. The fried green tomatoes are a must try. Unique flavors.
The food was good, and the service was great! I just wish they had better parking and lower level restrooms. The menu was not very diverse, but there were plenty of gluten-free options. I also wish there were more and better dessert options. Overall, though, I would eat there again with other adults. My kids, however, are not ready for that atmosphere or that menu.
Our server Ben was awesome! His recommendation was spot on! Can’t wait to go back!
Nice restaurant food was pretty good
I visited SCK for Easter brunch. I go there frequently and it is consistently very good. I have to say the Easter brunch was not up to its' everyday quality. We had theit take on a brisket eggs benedict and seafood hash. The brisket benedict was good but we did not care for the hash. The menu was understandably limited. I would have loved to have seen their fried chicken and waffles on the brunch menu as well as a different seafood take...Service is always good.
The waitress didn’t seem interested in helping provide more info or I put about the menu items. We had someone who hadn’t dined there before. And she knew that. The waitress cut her off while she was deciding and just turned her attention to the next person at our table without courteously saying, I’ll give you more time. We usually have great service with informed staff helping us. Her responses to our questions about food prep made it seem as though we were inconveniencing her. The waitress eventually became more helpful around the our second drink order.
The plus was that we were seated immediately. It was Easter Sunday so we expected a wait. The hostesses were so kind and courteous. We hope to come back and have a better experience.
The fried green tomatoes with goat cheese and red pepper coulis was fantastic. It almost tasted like a southern mozzarella stick, but 10 times better. The tomatoes had a nice crunch to them instead of being soggy like a lot of other restaurants.
The she-crab soup was equally as amazing. It was creamy and had a small kick at the back after a few bites. I didnt want my bowl to end!
The crab cake with tasso ham hash was good. I believe it was $22 and it actually had a large crab cake on it with a lot of crab meat. I'm always skeptical buying crab cakes because they are usually either too small or more bread than anything. These were the perfect size. Most of potatoes were al dente which is I'm sure how they intended them but I would have rather had a potato with a crispy outside and creamy inside. It was still good but next time I'll get something different.
They give you cornbread and biscuits complimentary and the biscuits were a little on the dry side but the cornbread was so good. Especially complimented with the amazing homemade apple butter. I wanted more of that too but I was too full from everything else.
My husband didn't really like his mimosa. I think it's because it may have had a sparkling orange juice and he doesn't like sparkling drinks. He did love his country thyme lemonade though!
I will be back again.
Food was fantastic!! Would 100% recommend.
Food was outstanding and we honestly can say that we had the best waiter we have ever had dinning out! Highly recommend.
Dinner at South City was delicious. Our server Amy was terrific and made some terrific recommendations. We enjoyed everything we had started with fried green Tomatoes, a strawberry arugula salad, shrimp and grits followed by fried chicken and smoky pork chop. Everything was yummy. We would definitely recommend it to everyone.
Fried green tomatoes were very good, shrimp and grits underwhelming from a seasoning perspective.
Pablo was amazing!
Best pork chop that I can remember eating! Great service and nice atmosphere
Made reservations through Open Table. Did not call as getting the group together was complicated. Arrived late and acknowledged this to the hostess. Informed her this was a business lunch with persons from out of town who were on the way. First, was told that our table was not ready yet. After about 20 minutes, was the told that because we were late, we would have to wait until others vacated a table before we could be seated. Fortunately, I spoke to one of the managers who arranged for us to be seated after a brief wait at a table that was available upstairs.
The hostess was extremely rude in her tone and mannerisms. She never told us the table was ready; she grabbed some menus and motioned with her head for us to follow her. She was rude from my entrance and continued after the manager attempted to improve the situation. I was quite embarrassed to bring people from other cities, who had not had a chance to have a meal in Atlanta to have to endure the antithesis of Southern Hospitality.
I have customer meetings in the area frequently. I have been to the Buckhead location but this was my first time at this location. I do not plan to return. There are too many excellent and creative restaurant options to endure the extremely rude behavior that was allowed at South City Kitchen. Guests to Atlanta deserve to have a warm welcoming Atlanta experience. With the SuperBowl and other events that give the city additional world-wide recognition, it should be a priority for all restaurants to provide exceptional service.
Best fried chicken I’ve had. The pork chop was huge, and cooked perfectly. Cocktail fantastic. Our waiter was really helpful at explaining the menu. I’d definitely go back.
Came here on a recommendation of a friend, during our two-day stop in Atlanta. Glad we made a reservation a week in advance, because it was packed on a Sunday night. Warm and cozy interior, and very friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. We shared the smoked trout crostini (which is a very large portion, and was excellent), as well as the pear salad, which was a smaller size, but delicious. As entrees, we had the Smokey Grilled Pork Chop and a citrusy duck breast, which were both excellent. The waitress brought a delicious chocolate concoction as a birthday treat for me. I don't see it on the online menu and can't adequately describe it, but it was fantastic. Would definitely come here again if we are in Atlanta.
Great southern style food, but with the chef's twist
Great food- fun atmosphere!
Our overall brunch experience was not great. I do have to say the collard greens were excellent and the complementary basket of biscuits and corn bread was very nice. But the side of potatoes was ridiculously small for the money. And my over medium fried eggs were cooked over hard. Menu options for bunch food were also quite limited.
Always a great stop. Great menu & food preparation.
The food is amazing! Best fried green tomatoes, creative cocktails and hands-down, best pork chop. They always have delicious dessert options and fun, friendly and helpful staff. A must when in Atlanta!
The food was outstanding. Loved the shrimp & grits. The collard greens & Brussel sprouts were delicious. If you like southern cooking, look no further.
My mom and I stopped by before we went to ASO concert. The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. We had crab cakes, fried green tomatoes, shrimp & grits and hanger steak. Handcrafted cocktails Were also excellent. The noise level was a bit high though, but overall it was an enjoyable experience.
We ate lunch with friends to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The food and service were excellent. Music got a bit loud, but the staff was very quick to turn it down when we asked.
