South City Kitchen Midtown Ratings and Reviews
My friends and I like this restaurant. Interesting ambiance in a converted house in Midtown Atlanta. Food usually excellent (the shrimp and grits, for instance). We've ordered steak that was a bit tough. Can be noisy at peak hours. Great service and staff. We'll return.
Agree with most others, inside environment is more decent than outside.
Parking is a pain, $15 the closest, $10 in the behind parking lot, but $2/hour for all street parking if not on Sundays/holidays. Definitely recommend to walk one or two blocks to get a street parking.
Complimentary breads are amazing. I love the biscuits better, especially cuz it comes with yummy butter and butter apple sauce.
We came in a group of 4 for Sunday brunch at 1:15pm, it was packed already. Luckily, we made the reservation the day before. I had the crab cake hash, with was one of the best crab cakes ever, I'm not a crab cake person, but this one is good. My friend has the famous chicken & waffle, the chicken was very very crispy outside (not to much bread) and very muscular meat inside. One ordered the shrimp and grits, it was good too, but I won't recommend it if you come here for the first time.
Excellent. Ok, so everybody's ranting about their staple fried chicken. Yeah, it deserves it. It's awesome. I've been there several times, and never had a bad meal or bad service. These folk know how to take care of you. You will enjoy yourself, and go home stuffed.
This was our first time at this outstanding restaurant. The wine list was varied and comprehensive with choices for all budgets. There was an extensive list of cocktails and whiskies as well. Service was good. Our waiter was helpful and friendly. The crab cakes were the best we ever tasted. The main dishes of Corvino and Pan seared duck breast were delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant.
SCK is one of our top 3 picks when we are in Atlanta. My only criticism is that we were seated upstairs, in a corner that was absolutely freezing. Everyone at the table was uncomfortably cold. Because we were there at a particularly busy time, changing tables was not an option.
The food was really delicious from beginning to end. Highly recommend the fried chicken and papardelle. The banana pudding dessert was outstanding. The service was attentive and polite, most of all competent! We were a party of 8 and everyone enjoyed the food and being treated so well.
Great restaurant in Atlanta. Shared the crab cake appetizer, fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits. Delicious food and everything was done perfectly. The crab cakes were delicately seasoned and didn't have too many bread crumbs so the crab flavor came through. The fried green tomatoes had goat cheese and a red pepper sauce that paired perfectly together. Nice crunch in the breeding but wasn't greasy. The shrimp and grits had a flavorful Tasso ham gravy that made the grits divine. Very cute renovated house gave the meal a very hip feel. Great service and parking on the street.
We ordered a lot -- fried green tomatoes, chicken livers, fried chicken, beef sandwich, pineapple upside down cake. And that was for lunch. Wish we lived in town. Wish we could have ordered more. Everything was so delicious. And Lauren, our server, was lovely. What a great start to our weekend! Next time we are in town, we'll definitely be back!
Was a good experience, but not awesome. Likely was time of day, we didn't arrive for our late lunch till around 3:00. Was still pretty busy! Meal was good. Wife had Salmon, I had their signature fried chicken. Mine was good, hers was ok. I think if you went at night they would probably step it up a notch. Came highly recommended by some foodie friends, so we'll likely go back and is why I would recommend to friends but didn't give it 5 stars.
