Fabulous service! Fabulous food! Room is a little tired.
I have eaten at this location of South City Kitchen for over 20 years. This time was a bit disappointing. Maybe because we were there at 8:30 on a Sunday night. First of all, the menu has not changed in 20 years. There are several signature dishes that are great, but 20 years is a long time to serve the same menu. The she-crab soup, which they are known for, was not very good. The bottom of the pot. My short ribs tasted the same. Again, it was late on Sunday, but that's really no excuse. The food should be perfect no matter what day or time of day. Maybe it's the neighborhood which has turned over quite a bit in the past few years. Maybe this location caters better to the weekday business crowd. Whatever the reason, the experience did not live up to my usual South City expectations.
Our favorite place to go for a brunch! Love the vibe, food, and location. We have never had a bad meal at this wonderful restaurant!
It was amazing and I can’t say enough about the service!
Excellent! Especially the waiter - funny, professional - top notch!
The food was amazing. I will definitely go back when I’m in midtown
Great food and great service. I don’t come to Atlanta often but South City Kitchen is always on my list of “must go to” places!
The trout fish was not good. It had no flavor and the presentation of it was not appealing. The fried green tomatoes were hard/raw, and one of them had the black core in them. This use to be one of my favorites, but I hadn’t been in a while. There are too many other better options to choose from. I will not be returning unless it’s for their children & waffles.
This is my favorite place to relax and enjoy a great southern meal with friends.
What a great place! Very unassuming from the street. Food was just great and true to the southern theme. Fried chicken is king, and the pork chop is also fantastic as well. Would definitely return when back in Atlanta!
We had very pleasant service, they even split our appetizer without us asking. However we had a small table up stairs next to a large party made it hard to hear each other because of the acoustics. The food was good. Would go back and try again for a better ambiance experience maybe a outside or down stairs
Visiting from Dallas we stopped in for brunch and the food was great. Caleb was our server and he was awesome as well!
Amazing food, excellent service, and great ambiance. I would definitely go back next time I am in Atlanta.
The best fried chicken and mashed potatoes in town!
My husband and I were in Atlanta for 3 nights... 2 of the nights we ate here because it was SOOOOO good.
So if you are looking for southern cuisine with a little twist- then this place is for you!
Their cocktails are made perfectly. I had their Tyme Lemonade which was the perfect balance of alcohol and sweetness. His old fashion was made perfect!
The fried green tomatoes with goat cheese are delightful! While you’re there if you get the opportunity to try their braised short rib and/or fried chicken dinner- neither of these meals will let you down!!! I also want to make sure I mention the collard greens! Hands down best I have ever had.
All staff were friendly and they were even able to get us in last minute on our second night visiting. If we ever come back to Atlanta this will be one of our “must go to”!!!!!
This is by far one of the best restaurants in the city! The food is high quality with lots of flavor. I look forward to my next visit.
Overall the food was good; however, the pork chop and sides (sweet potatoes, apples and brussel sprouts) are all lathered in the exact same sauce. In addition, the amount of sauce was excessive and not compatible with the sides. The sauce was not unique and tasted like Barbeque sauce poured straight out of a store bought bottle. Other than that, and the killer bisquits and corn bread, the service, atmosphere, etc. were all good.
A true neighborhood gem, service at the bar is always top notch, try the fried chicken and or pork chop
Entertained two out of town friends. Neither had ever visited Atlanta and both wanted to taste "Southern" food. To make it more complex one of my guests is a vegan.
South City did not disappoint. Food was excellent as was the service. The vegan options we ordered were outstanding and cocktails were on point. Definitely will be back again.
There's a reason it's on all of the top lists! The food was incredible. We had the fried green tomatoes, she-crab soup, braised short rib and fried chicken and ate every last bite. The dessert menu left me wanting a bit more (peach cobbler to be exact), but that isn't such a big deal when you have entrees as great as they had. Definitely a place to revisit!
Hostess was unfriendly. Food was ok but nothing special that you can’t get anywhere else in Atlanta. Overall it wasn’t bad but really not memorable either.
My husband and I ordered the fried chicken and the pork chop. Both were on the dry side. Normally not the case. Have eaten at the other locations many times. Service was still great as always and we were seated promptly upon arrival.
Great venue for late lunch before heading down town for night. Sophie did a great job. Fried chicken and baked bread awesome. One of our favorites
Best chicken soup I have ever had.
NYE! It was great!
Everyone in our NYE party thought the appetizers were scrumptious. Although the main course was good, it was kind of a letdown after the appetizers. Service was great. Value - let’s just say I’m going to look for a different venue next year.
Great food service and drinks
Everything was excellent. The staff was so helpful and our meal was delicious.
Excellent food—Carolina Trout was amazing in both flavor and presentation! Service was friendly and efficient. Great atmosphere.
Great food and service.. a little difficult for people with disabilities. Stairs in front and no bathroom on first floor . They did say they were working to improve the situation.
Server Tierra was awesome
Love this place! Always a pleasure to eat at. Amazing food.
Dining for my niece’s birthday celebration as she was visiting from Houston. Food was wonderful and our sever Andy was very professional.
Amazing! The portions were great and the peach Bellini was to die for. The service was quick and amazing. Will be going back next time I’m in town.
The food was great, as usual, and our server was very charming and informative.
The fried green tomatoes were bland. The breading was not seasoned, the sauce lacked character. The cheese wasn't distinctive. It was like a fast food jalapeno popper in texture but without the flavor. I couldn't taste the tomato at all. Mediocre. The sweetened corn muffin was the same. Nothing unique about it. The BBQ sandwich I had was more interesting, although the meat lacked smoke. The bun was heavily buttery and toasted to extra-crunchy which I thought would be annoying but it held up well to the tender brined meat chunks and okay sauce. The skin-on fries were good but super average. The pineapple upside-down cake was an idea that didn't quite gel.
The service was quick and moderately attentive, but a little pushy in that our waiter seemed happy to tell a couple of women what they should order despite not having been asked, like we might not be able to decide for ourselves.
It was excruciatingly loud, and it wasn't terribly busy when we were there. I can't imagine having a conversation during peak times.
The experience reminded me why it had been decades since I'd eaten there last. It's just not a restaurant with food worth writing home about.
Amazing service! Waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu! Great drinks!!!!
It is hard NOT to get the fried chicken. One of us got the fried chicken entree and the other got the fried chicken salad. You never go away hungry!
The food was fantastic. The scallop appetizer and the pear appetizer were wonderful. The pork chop and spare rib were excellent entrees. The peanut butter chocolate cake is heaven b
