The food was incredible and our server was a delightful character that kept us entertained (and also kept our water glasses full and everything else you could desire from a great server). You could tell that the place was well-loved by visitors and locals alike and the atmosphere was fun and relaxed. The ONLY drawback was that we were seated upstairs which was above the kitchen and it was incredibly hot (and I'm FROM the south). Since we had reservations, I wish we could have had cooler seating.
For out of town people that are looking for upscale southern cuisine, this is it!
Really nice food in a great setting. Lovely building and decor. Food was good but very salty. Had to send soup back b/c it was so salty. Everyone at our table said food was salty. Crab cakes excellent.
Otherwise, fresh, good quality.
Great updated southern food. Salads, sandwiches and the fried chicken were yummy!
The food and the service was excellent. I took my Mother for her birthday and she absolutely loved the place. We will be going back.
Food is excellent. The green fried tomatoes are superb. Only issue is the space is a little cramped.
The service was wonderful, the food was delicious .
We were a party of 12. Had to change to six. Then had to change to eight. They couldn’t have been nicer and so accommodating! Our server was excellent and very informative about the menu. She steered us in great suggestions. Everyone was delighted with the food , drink and ambiance. Supertime😃
We were very disappointed with the food and service at the restaurant. We had not been in a while due to issues from a previous visit but decided to give it another try and we will not go again. Not worth the cost.
Always enjoy South City Kitchen!! Ana was our server + she is EXCEPTIONAL!! Had a great meal.
Came up from Tampa and want some good old southern food. A cousin that lives in the Atlanta area recommended this place and it was very good. From the appetizer to the fried chicken.
Food was great. My wife and I began with the crab cake. We both had the shrimp and grits which were amazing. We had the collards and Spaghetti squash, turnip, and carrot mix as sides. These sides definitely left more to be desired. The pecan pie slab was one of the best I have ever had--only to be rivaled by Bones. Great evening.
It was great!!! Great cocktails, great fried chicken, great fun!
Celebrated our wedding anniversary with a nice lunch. Food was amazing and had a great time. What made our visit special was the service we received from Pablo, our waiter. He was great and had the best attitude and really interacted with us. Will definitely be back for another visit!
Food was very good. I like the corn muffins. Service was great.
Food was amazing as always. My family and I had a wonderful time celebrating my recent nuptials. Our server James was THE best and very, very helpful!!!
After all these years South City Kitchen is still a pleasure. These people know about hospitality and excellent food.
Enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the old building where the restaurant resides. The fried chicken and shrimp and grits were very good as well as the chicken liver appetizer.
I made a reservation and even though I was 20 minutes early, I was seated immediately. Our waitress Amy was very good. She checked on us often and also had good suggestions. The manager was very personable and helpful with the waitstaff Good was very good and we were stuffed.
SCK in Midtown is a family friendly environment with amazing cuisine for all types of consumers from carnivores to vegetarians. The servers tag team and delivery exceptional service with a smile and finesse. It is truly a great environment for having great conversations with even better food.
Delicious fried chicken and fried green tomatoes. Overall great restaurant. But very noisy that's why not perfect score
Disappointed, had a reservation and a group of 6 without a reservation was seated before us. Ended seating at the bar. The food was good and bartender was excellent.
So many people rave about the fried chicken at South City Kitchen so naturally I was really looking forward to it. They use a quality chicken (Springer Mountain) but only serve the airline breast. It was very disappointing; flavorless and the crust was falling off the meat. The generous serving of french fries was also lack luster and soggy.
It's a noisy place and even though we were on the covered patio, having a conversation was difficult.
Our waitress was terrific, but if the food isn't good, there's not much else to recommend the place.
The she crab soup and golden beet salad was outstanding. I had the corvine dish, one of their newer ones, and it was very good. Next time I'll try one of the house specialties.
We allowed plenty of time to have a glass of wine, salad & entree. We were there at 5:30 and the restaurant filled up fast by 6. The meal was exceptional and then we headed to Symphony Hall for the concert. Love this place.
The food was wonderful and the service very good. My wife had the Georgia lettuces with chicken and I had the pulled pork sandwich. Delivery of the food was a bit slow which the manager noticed. He offered another round of drinks or a dessert which we declined. He insisted we take a piece of chocolate pie with us. We enjoyed it later in the afternoon and it was scrumptious!
$40 mimosa pitcher was a bit small but the food was great and the service was outstanding. Overall wonderful experience.
We ordered the shrimp and grits and the duck for main and the crab appetizer
The shrimp and grits were decent, but by no means excellent- hop alley in Alpharetta has much better shrimp and grits, great flavor
The crab cake was decent, but it seemed it was cooked at a low temperature and didn’t have any sort of caramelized/crust.
It should have been cooked hotter.
Finally the duck main, boring, the rice tasted metallic, as if it had been left in an aluminum pan for too long and was flavorless. The duck was cooked way too cool, it was more grey colored on the outside than grilled. Duck should be grilled super hot, the oil must be on the verge of smoking. Whoever cooked that was clueless about duck and just wanted to go home.
South city has long been a favorite but it seems to have gone down
Two of us, obviously on a date we’re seated right next to a very loud table that had been drinking, which is fine, but they could have put as somewhere else .
Nice food and service. The biscuit was amazing.
We went for fried chicken and were not disappointed; moist and flavorful. Superb cocktails, too.
The food was good, but I wish that they served breakfast all day, as I chose to eat there based on that specific menu. I was disappointed, but again, satisfied with the catfish reuben.
Always enjoy lunch at South City Kitchen. We had lunch with and old friend and were never rushed although we stayed over two hours talking.
The wait staff were lovely and went above and beyond. However, I expected more from the food. It wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it wasn't the A+ cuisine that I was expecting.
Once again, I had a great meal at South City. The service does understand a business lunch, so they stayed away during our conversation. I really appreciate this type of service. Good meal...good business.
There were 6 of us for a business dinner. The noise level made it a bit challenging at time to carry on a conversation. We were seated up front by the bar and front door which may have contributed. The service and food was outstanding!
Ordered chicken and mashed potatoes. Everyone at the table had it. No one was happy with the food. It lacked good seasoning and chicken was to over cooked. I was not happy with my food at all. Sorry will not be back.
We arrived early for our Sunday Brunch reservation, but were seated right away. The wait staff was attentive without being pushy and provided great menu guidance to our guests, who were first-timers at SCK. Our table settled on two orders of the Brisket Benedict, an SCK Breakfast, and a Pimento Cheese appetizer. All three were deliciously prepared. If you haven't tried the Brisket Benedict before, don't hesitate to do so on your next visit. Despite the usual busy Sunday Brunch crowd, our meal was unhurried and our visit with friends totally pleasant.
Always a great experience. Food and service were amazing!
James was amazing. We were a party of 6 and he was quite attentive, and an amazing server!
Second time at that location. Loved the experience. Food was excellent, beautiful and attentive wait staff.
