Sotto Voce Wine & Pasta Bar Ratings and Reviews
Love this place! Best corner to people watch. We sat outside on the most comfortable couches with our own fire pit. Had a delicious soup followed by the yummiest Sicilian meatballs I have ever tasted, moist and juicy in the tastiest marinara sauce. Will definitely be back .. Winter and Summer 👍
Had an amazing dinner at Sotto Vice tonight!
The ambience, the service and the food was awesome. I had the crostini to start and it was delish, such a tasty medley of flavors with the prosciutto, fig and goats cheese. My main was the Dal Mare pasta and it was perfectly al dente and delicious! The staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable with wine recommendations. Would highly recommend! Thanks for a great evening!
I am a chef from Scotland and I specialize in soups so it was a lovely change to experience really authentic Italian cuisine in very warm and enjoyable atmosphere. The staff were engaging and knew their stuff and went to great lengths to explain all the various menu options as well as a solid knowledge of ingredients. The gaffer of the place (Anita) was the ultimate host, charming lovely woman. The wines were superb. All in all one of the culinary highlights of my visit to Toronto. I can't wait to go back the next time I visit.
We ended up there because all the other restaurants we tried getting a reservation at were full. I wouldn't go back... but it's not an awful place either. It's just not what I was expecting food wise.
One of our waitresses was alright the other one was very ordinary. They both couldn't answer all of the questions we had regarding the wines, the ingredients in the food, etc. The food was fine. Nothing exceptional but alright I guess. I wouldn't call it traditional Italian food though. The meat balls were too sweet to my liking. I had the lamb. It was fine. 3 people at my table ordered the seafood pasta and they liked it. We shared some crostini. It was just okay. We also shared the burrata was great I must say. The texture was perfect, the taste was amazing.
This local spot celebrating 18 years was a great location to meet some friends for a summer dinner on the patio. The food choices offered a reasonable menu with variety although portions are quite small.
We later learned this is more of a wine bar than a restaurant however I feel it is a winner and would return. Notable are Pasta and wine at a flat rate of $ 25 on Mon during the summer. Great deal for a casual business meet up or girls night out !
Sotto Voce never fails to please. Anita, the indomitable owner and hostess with the mostess is consistently as fabulous as the food and wine Sotto Voce has to offer. She and her staff, especially Jasmine, make everyone feel like a VIP! But the food...oh the food...
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Sotto Voce. Didn't get the name of our fabulous server (in an equally fabulous floral suit!), but she did the restaurant proud. Wonderful personality and knowledge of the menu, she made perfect suggestions to adapt to our various dietary requests.
We will be back!
we hit the 1/2 price wine night which was fantastic as we were able to order a more expensive bottle and pay 50% in fact we had 2 bottles my friend and I. Patricia was lovely and very attentive, not overbearing the fellow was also super good. There is limited kitchen space and I think they do a bang up job of the food with an interesting and unique presentation to the dishes, and v ery tasty. College Street in that strip is a changing and I'm really happy that Soto Voce seems to be doing well and staying true to its Italian roots. its a great neighbourhood place and I look forward to my next visit there
A wonderful quaint spot to enjoy some authentic Italian cuisine! Our hostess/owner/server Anita made us feel like we were dining in her home. Food was exceptional but the staff and ambiance made us feel relaxed and at ease. Our special requests were honored and taken in stride. I can't recommend this special restaurant enough!
We showed up for our reservation at 7pm. We were told that there was a table who had arrived late for their reservation and were just finishing up. We were seated at the bar, and we waited for twenty minutes - no tables showed any sign of finishing up - before we left and went to another restaurant. There was another party who came in after us, who were in the same situation (had a reservation but still had to wait) and they left as well. NOT IMPRESSED
Not a very friendly place. Lots of noise. It was raining so part of the patio could not be used.
The temperate inside was unbearable. Although we had made a reservation, we were given a spot inside crushed by the wall.
The food was good. No substitution was available so we paid for the extra food we wanted and we were glad we did.
Worst of all, they rushed us. We were done in less than 1 hour. They asked us 3 times if we needed anything else (ie pay the bill). People were waiting and it felt like a factory place. They started rearranging our table as soon as we stood up to leave!
Lots of options in this neighborhood, you may want to start with another place.
