It is a concept of casual intimacy and communal romance. Sotto is the art of simplicity, a steward of restraint. It’s undressed, gutsy and human. It is fire, meat, wheat, and laughter. Above all, Sotto is Italian.

Sotto Ratings and Reviews
Most wonderful and most authentic Italian restaurant!
Wend for a business dinner with a colleague from Italy and he could not believe how authentic and fantastic Sotto is. He is a food lover and enjoyed every bite and so did I. The star is the ambiance, the pasta, the bread and the meat and cheese plate. But everything we had was perfect. Sotto keep it up like that and you will be #1 in Cincinnati soon, you are for me.
There is not a more beautiful, unique restaurant in town. The outside is unassuming. You descend stairs (and there is an elevator) to a beautiful, underground, rustic and sophisticated dining area. It's very beautiful and romantic. The food is all handmade and you can tell. I've never tasted anything more amazing than the food I have had here. I did not know chicken liver mousse could be so mouthwatering delicious. The hand folded pasta is a work of art. It's a very romantic and delicious experience at Sotto.
We love Sotto, Boca, and Nada. Each of the restaurants is unique, beautiful, and serves absolutely delicious food!
We were lucky to get a last minute reservation to Sotto before heading to Playhouse in the Park for a show. Everything was perfect and we can't wait to come back.
Wife and I had lunch; first time at Sotto. The atmosphere is very "old warehouse". We remember eating at La Normandie which occupied the space in the 70's and 80's.
Our chicken liver mousse with pistachio nuts on bruschetta was quite good.
I had fusilli with vodka sauce and sausage. There was very little sausage. Wife had
ravioli with beef, shallots and cream sauce. Again, very little meat. We also got to taste the gnocchi which was delivered to us by mistake. Seems to be maximal pasta and minimal meat.
We received a complimentary dessert of a wonderful donut with caramel sauce. Very delicious.
The waitress was fantastic; excellent service is her style! We will eat there again.
Excellent food and excellent service made for a memorable luncheon with an out-of-town friend who was equally impressed. The short rib cappellacci was absolutely delectable and the side salad and garlic toast were perfect accompaniments. The ricotta doughnuts are out of this world. Sotto is a must!!!
We absolutely love Sotto - it is definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Cincinnati. We have our regular favorite menu items, but this last visit - there were some items that we hadn't tried or they were new menu items - so we tried all new items. It might've been the best meal we've had to date! Keep up the great work & we'll continue returning again & again!
Arrived early and our table was ready. It took a while to get drinks but all other service was prompt , efficient and pleasant. The food was excellent and the portions were appropriate. It was somewhat loud but otherwise we had no concerns. I would definitely recommend Sotto.
I have long counted Sotto among my favorite restaurants but this time I was extremely disappointed. “Energetic” is not a good description of the sound level in the restaurant. It was raucous. It was so loud it gave me a headache. My dinner — both entree and salad — was absolutely drenched in lemon juice. Much too much lemon juice. We ordered Tiramisu for dessert and it was not good. It usually is wonderful.
When I made the reservation, several months ago, I requested a table in the lounge area. That request was ignored.
I’m sorry to be so negative but all three of us were extremely disappointed in the whole evening.
My husband and I absolutely love Sotto! While the ambiance is wonderful the music is a little loud. But it doesn’t matter as the food is fantastic. The kale salad is fresh with small crunchy croutons and a lovely Caesar dressing. Our favorite was the branzini served with a cold bulgar salad. The skin was crisp with the perfect amount of char. Loved loved loved it! Will be back soon!
