We enjoyed a Valentines Day dinner. There was a preselected four course menu that had LOTS of choices. We thought $85 a person was pricy but it was Valentines so we expected no different. Our food was delicious and service was spot on. There was a piano player, violinist, and bass. A very nice evening.

Early reservations for Valentines Day. The food was tasty and good portions; the service was excellent; the piano and violin were awesome and the valets were the best! Love Sorrentos.

What a let down Sorrento's was for dinner! We had a pleasant experience on a previous date but this was a total disaster! Our waiter was competent and pleasant but the kitchen took over 1 1/2 hours to get us our dinner! Unsolicited, the Manager came out and said he knew we had been waiting a very long time and blamed it on the fact they had a small kitchen- are you serious? Don't book tables if your kitchen cant handle it- must admit it was insulting. So we continued to wait and finally our food came. My wife ordered the special which was Halibut. It was tough, dry and overcooked. She only ate about two bites (after waiting 1 1/2 hours for the special) and when she told the waiter he informed her that is the way they cook Halibut! I couldn't believe it- footnote: apparently they cook Halibut bone dry, tough to eat with no flavor - be warned. We ordered a bottle of Cakebread Chardonnay and had to wait so long for dinner it was almost finished it by the time dinner arrived. Waiter tried to salvage the evening by surprising us with one desert for the table to share. It was one of the most unpleasant dining experiences we have had in two years. We are blessed with so many fine dining choices in Houston that it was a disappointing Saturday night for such a poor experience. I think this is the first really negative review I have given on Open Table. When we go to the finer dining establishments, under no circumstances have any of them let us sit there for over an hour only to tell us the special is suppose to be bone dry and over cooked and blame it on a small kitchen. Be careful before investing your Saturday night and making a substantial financial investment in Sorrento's. We had such high hopes! There was no accountability only denial- not a recipe for future success!

Overall experience was excellent. The food and presentation was on point and delicious. My only suggestion for improvement would be for the chef to lighten the salt a bit, particularly on my special entree, the veal chop.

Our main waiter was a little too present from time to time. He also was a little overly suggestive. The experience should be about us, not him. He even suggested we leave behind our leftover wine so he could enjoy it. I have done this many times at other places, but I've never had the experience of a waiter asking us to do it.

Our first visit to this restaurant. After researching Italian restaurants in the city we were lucky to pick Sorrento. Everything about it was perfect from the fantastic food, cocktails and wine, and the very attentive but unobtrusive waiter, Raul. Two of us had the delectable mushroom risotto starters, two had the secondi veal piccata with a distinctive lemony bite, husband had the osso buco ravioli (which was more than enough and provided a wonderful appetizer at home next day!). One had melt in your mouth sea bass. Altogether a wonderful experience. Though it is a 45 minutes drive for us senior citizens this was well worth the trip and we will be back.

Sorrento used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Houston. After a long hiatus, we decided to go back. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. It was probably one of the worst meals I have had in recent years.

This is a favorite restaurant of mine. My wife and I go at least four or five times a year, if not more often. The pianist is a real treat. The music is recognizable and is wonderful background for conversation. Our food is always delicious. Our favorites are the veal piccata and the osso buco. We have had fish and steak and were never disappointed. Service is attentive without being intrusive.

I really love this place. Nothing to complain about. Maybe the price of the special was a little excessive in my opinion. It was $50 for Mediterranean Sea bass. I think $30 would have been more reasonable. Still, it was delicious as was everything else.

My wife and I took our 3 children (14, 16 and 21) for a Sunday dinner. The restaurant was very cozy inside. We were seated in the wine room in the front of the restaurant. The room was cozy and beautiful. The service was impeccable. Jorge our waiter was one of the best waiters we have ever had at any restaurant. He was on top of things but not intrusive. The meal was relaxed and he did not rush us at all. The piano volume was perfect with excellent songs we all enjoyed. We ordered appetizers for the table and they were divided for the 5 of us. No passing the plate around to share. Their bread selection was incredible. Our main courses were delicious. Our entrees included veal picatta, mushroom ravioli and seafood pasta special. All were excellent. Our favorite drink was the Sorrento (Prosecco and Limoncello). We are definitely planning our next trip back.

we had not been in a while and boy was that a mistake! I forgot how great the whole experience was! Food, service, atmosphere all tops. My daughter had never been and was enamored by the concept of "pasta in a cheese wheel" and that turned out to be a hit with her. not just our table but to see how the waiters treated all the clientele was so nice to see. will definitely on the return-to and highly recommend lists. Just goes to show that simple but tasty food and consistent great and FRIENDLY service keeps places alive

p.s. the service help walking around with the bread trays was a close second to the cheese wheel

Our first visit to Sorrento and and wish we would have discovered this restaurant sooner. The food and the service could not have been better. The bread presentation and choices were so impressive. The mushroom risotto appetizer served table side in a cheese wheel was the best dish I have had in Houston. Can't wait to go back.

Sorrento’s is always good but we were upset after being seated. Open Table did not show a special menu for this restaurant for NYEVE. We were surprised to find a limited and rather overpriced menu. Diners were not allowed to order off the restaurant’s regular menu. Everyone was locked in to a four course meal. Very disappointing. We would have gone elsewhere had we known.
