Sorrento Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
we had not been in a while and boy was that a mistake! I forgot how great the whole experience was! Food, service, atmosphere all tops. My daughter had never been and was enamored by the concept of "pasta in a cheese wheel" and that turned out to be a hit with her. not just our table but to see how the waiters treated all the clientele was so nice to see. will definitely on the return-to and highly recommend lists. Just goes to show that simple but tasty food and consistent great and FRIENDLY service keeps places alive
p.s. the service help walking around with the bread trays was a close second to the cheese wheel
Our first visit to Sorrento and and wish we would have discovered this restaurant sooner. The food and the service could not have been better. The bread presentation and choices were so impressive. The mushroom risotto appetizer served table side in a cheese wheel was the best dish I have had in Houston. Can't wait to go back.
Sorrento’s is always good but we were upset after being seated. Open Table did not show a special menu for this restaurant for NYEVE. We were surprised to find a limited and rather overpriced menu. Diners were not allowed to order off the restaurant’s regular menu. Everyone was locked in to a four course meal. Very disappointing. We would have gone elsewhere had we known.
Open Table- Please make sure you post up to date menus for all your restaurants - especially on widely celebrated holidays such as New Years Eve.
We had a lovely meal and experience for our holiday team lunch. Since we were coming from work in different cars after different meeting endings, our arrival time was a little scattered and our server kept us busy and happy with roasted garlic and bread then appetizers until we all arrived. The meals were all very good (two of our eight were thrilled with the lasagna and two of us were quite happy with the halibut, one raved about the buffalo pizza, another about the lobster tortellini) and everyone said we HAD to get the calamari and crabcake appetizers that we loved so much last year. It definitely did not disappoint.
Enjoyed dinner with great friends. Three out of four of us were satisfied with dinner. One person had lobster with pasta. She could not cut lobster....it was extremely tough.....over cooked. When asked how our meal was, she said “the lobster is too tough, I can hardly cut it”. A second person came around and asked about dinner. Was told the same thing. When we received the check, she was charged for a lobster she could not eat. Told the waiter and his response....”the owner said to charge you for the lobster”. Really?????? I asked the waiter to send the owner to our table. He never came to our table. Awkward. What owner does not come to your table to hear of a major concern? Needless to say, our evening was uncomfortable and we walked away saying we may never return. We still tipped our waiter well.
Really enjoyed the day there. Celebrated my moms birthday. Will echo others, regardless if you are a regular or you're a first timer, you are treated like a celebrity. From the valet parking to the hostess to our waitress, we were made to feel like VIPs of this place. This is my 6th or 7th time here.
The interior was decorated warmly for the Christmas season, and the lady that played the piano was wonderful, really giving it an upbeat and cheery feel inside.
Our waitress was well groomed, polite, friendly and knew the menu forwards and backwards. She was always attentive without being overbearing. The two young men that serve water and bread are professional and friendly as well. Really makes for a pleasant dining experience.
The menu is vast and because it was Sunday, we took advantage of the 3 course special. This is a fantastic value and you will definitely not leave there hungry.
The food was good, but not great. The Sea Bass may have been around a little too long, and the spinach was slightly over seasoned. The other dishes, the Chicken Rollatini and Osso Bucco Ravioli were spot on and very tasty.
The outstanding service will make up for the slightly off food. Don't get me wrong, it wasnt bad, just a little disappointing because everything else is so top notch here.
We will definitely visit this place again.
Sorrento Ristorante Italiano was a pleasant surprise. Just walking in I could tell it would be special. The ambiance, piano, food and service were excellent.
My wife and I started by splitting the Lobster Tortelloni with Lemon Cream Sauce and the Arugula, Fig, Gorgonzola and Candied Pecans Balsamic Vinaigrette salad. This was my only mistake. I should have had my own.
I had the Veal Osso Buco and my wife, the Double Lamb Chop Stuffed with Goat Cheese. Both were excellent.
A special call out to Alejandro, our waiter. His wine suggestion and service were excellent. I don't really know what could have been better.
I don't ordinarily give five star ratings because there can almost always be improvements. But in this case I feel the rating is deserved. We will definitely be coming back.
We have been to Sorrentos several times and this restaurant never fails to impress us. The food was delicious; the service was great, not too fast nor too slow; the noise level was acceptable for a full restaurant. We will definitely come back as there several dishes that we still need to try.
