Sorrentino's Downtown Ratings and Reviews
Dinner was absolutely exceptional. There were four of us in our party and not a bite was left on any of our plates! We thoroughly enjoyed each flavourful dish, and because the dishes were so flavourful we couldn’t help but sample every dish at our table. Will be frequenting this location!
We went to Sorrentinos with some friends for our anniversary, the atmosphere is nice but unfortunately for us they had just changed the menu, which we did not know and we were looking forward to the menu that was online, first problem but we made it work, 2nd problem was ordered 2 bottles of wine both of which they did not have again, just a small glitch but it does take away from the experience. I guess with the new menu we expected the food to be outstanding it was okay my Shrimp and Scallop Risotto was a bit on the bland side, and last item to top off the list they forgot to take off the wine they did not have off the bill. So I have had some good experiences at Sorrentinos but after this last experience it will not be at the top of my list for future occasions.
We visited a little later , 8:30pm . We were able to share various menu items rather than entres . Waiter was knowledgeable as he had actually been to Italy and had experience he could share . We didn’t mentioned that we had been to many places in Italy but his stories were real . We were not rushed even though there were very few patrons remaining at end of the night . The food was fresh and creative .
The downtown Sorrentino's has been a consistently good restaurant for us! We had a gift certificate and decided to enjoy the Mushroom Harvest event. The food was amazing and the specially picked wines complimented it well. Our waiter was knowledgeable and eager to share some of his passion for the special menu and the new wines. We couldn't have had a nicer time.
Had the opportunity to have dinner out with a girlfriend and it was fantastic! Right from our greeting when we areives,to our wine and dinner . I am celiac and great care was taken with my meal and my friends seafood linguine was amazing!
Highly recommend! Thank you Micheal and staff for a great night!
We are four colleagues who wanted to have dinner together before an event at the Winspear Centre. The server was very clear about how busy the restaurant was that night and gave us tips on ordering so that we wouldn't be delayed. He did not fail, in fact we had our dinners, some time to chat and had dessert. We really appreciated the heads up about the time frame. Each diner enjoyed her dinner and three of us had a great glass of wine.
We were visitors from Calgary and looking for a special place to have a special evening out. This was what we hoped to find. The food, service and atmosphere were all top notch, but it was the attention paid to the details that made it stand out. Well done, I hope we have the chance to come back and enjoy it again.
Had a business meeting at Sorrentino's downtown and we had a nice, private, quiet table. Food was very good and service was excellent. I know lots of the other restaurant choices in that area have a more energetic ambiance but this was perfect for our purpose. We could conduct business without interruption and without straining to hear each other and without concern for other nearby patrons listening to our conversation. I will certainly return to this venue!
I've been working downtown for quite a while but never thought of going there. Chef Alberto is my boyfriend's friend. So I went there last Friday. We started with salad with roasted shrimps, avocado, beets, lettuce, etc. It was delicious. The main dish was thin pasta with smoked pork and cherry-tomatoes, it was a big plate that I only finished half! I was really happy with the food. Reminded me of my trip in Italy. The waiter and waitress provided great service. Me and my coworker definitely enjoyed our lunch A LOT. I hope the restaurant will renovate outside soon, it will definitely attract more people to this great restaurant. Again, good food, good atmosphere, worth to try!
My wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a wonderful supper prior to attending the Lady GaGa show at Rogers Place. We have eaten at Sorrentinos several times and always enjoyed the quality of the food and service that they provide to their customers. We were surprised to discover that the chef, Alberto, lives in our community and made an effort to say hello. Alberto treated us royally and not only came to greet us, but made some suggestions for our meal...when a chef makes suggestions...you listen and agree. For our appetizer we had a woonderful combination of scallops and mushrooms with some wonderful cheeses mixed in ...absolutely mouth watering. This was followed up with a mushroom risotto ( the chef's specialty) mixed with some wonderful spices. The Malbec wine went well with the meal as did the peach grappa at the end of our meal. We topped the meal off with a cappuccino, some tasty gelato and a very light and delicious teramisu. What an amazing start to a fabulous evening out.
The main was well proportioned and well prepared and I was happy with it. I wasn't pleased with the salmon appetizer which was covered in a mayonnaise, and I was disappointed with the dessert, which was described as a soufflé but was actually a molten lava cake. Although it was well prepared and good, I would not have ordered it had I known it was not a soufflé.
