We picked Sorin's to celebrate our son's graduation from ND! The food was wonderful,
especially the Fillet Mignon. What we really enjoyed was the ambiance. The fire pit was
going outside, and it was quiet enough inside that our family could talk and get caught up. It
was overall a great evening with family, good food, and good service. I would recommend
it for any special occasion.
We enjoyed Mother's Day brunch. It's a lovely facility. Staff and wait staff were all super friendly and helpful. Required valet parking is a little slow but still convenient. Meals were tasty and served with attractive presentation. Every woman received a Mothers Day rose which was a very sweet ending to a relaxed and yummy dining experience.
Free valet parking. Good food and atmosphere for a pretty affordable price.
Very distinguish restaurantNce fish, soup and deserts
Service and food were excellent!!! We were able to talk to one another without interruptions. The food presentations were amazing. Thank you for a wonderful lunch!!
Sorin's is becoming a traditional Sunday brunch for some of us. It is convenient for us a number of who are already on the campus, and an easy walk from the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. The wait staff is super friendly, very pleasant and very accommodating.
We had a lovely lunch. The food was very good and fresh, and the wait staff very friendly and attentive.
The food and service was excellent! We were celebrating a couple of family birthdays. One thing to keep in mind, the menu has changed a bit - when ordering your main item such as steak, chicken, etc. you order your side dishes separately from the list off to the side of the menu. My in-laws dined here a couple of moths ago and the server apparently didn’t tell them that. They were surprised when their steaks arrived with nothing else on the plate. Our server did explain and the lobster mashed potatoes were amazing!
Our Sunday brunch, following the 11:45 a.m. Sunday ND Folk Choir Mass in the Basilica at Notre Dame has become a very nice tradition. The staff are incredibly helpful, attentive, and accommodating.
Easter morning breakfast at Sorin’s was quite enjoyable. The hostess was friendly and, after taking our coats, showed us to our table for four-for which we had a reservation-promptly. The wait staff was excellent. We were made aware that one of the items ordered was not available after the order was placed but the situation was handled gracefully and an alternative selection was made. All the food was excellent and the servings generous. The roasted eggplant and tomato skillet was one of the best breakfast dishes I have ever had. The Nutella and strawberry crepes received rave reviews. We lingered over our coffee and at no time felt rushed, despite the restuarant being very busy. If ever the opportunity presents itself in the future, we will certainly dine at Sorin’s again.
It was good, not very good or great ... expected better.
Our dining experience at Sorin's was pleasant enough, but they clearly do not have enough servers. While our server was friendly, we had several requests that went unfulfilled, one which was very serious. One of the individuals in our party has an onion allergy and ordered the slider appetizer without the caramelized onion. Unfortunately, she took a bite of what appeared to be an item made to her specifications and immediately had a reaction. We discovered they had simply put the caramelized onion underneath the hamburger patty and, realizing their error, simply scraped it off. They need to take stated allergies more seriously. Also, we asked for ketchup several times before it was brought to us. By that time, the individual had almost completed their meal. Also, we waited 15 minutes for our check. They simply need to step it up if they are going to charge the prices they charge!
Love this place. Great ambiance. Variety of choices for breakfast. Did afternoon tea - highly recommend! Will return over and over again
We love Sorin’s ... it makes any occasion a special occasion.
Restaurant wasn't busy but service slow. Three tables seated after us received their meals before we even we're able to order. We waited 5 minutes for a soup spoon. We were a table of 2. The restaurant wasn't busy, inexcusable for a restaurant serving this fare and at these prices.
Food was very good. They have done a great job with the renovation. Extensive wine list, but no listing for spirits. The server was not sure what brands they offered, only that they had a particular spirit. A printed list would be helpful for those not drinking wine.
just wasn't a place for me and my wife
There is nothing French about this place. The food was cold and the service mediocre. Very disappointed.
I've been eating at Sorin's for a couple decades, and once considered it one of South Bend's best kept secrets: imaginative food, prepared well, and only a little pricey. But over the last few years, the quality here has dropped precipitously, the menu is little more than steak and chicken (both over-cooked), and the quality coming from the kitchen doesn't come close to what it once was. My friends and I would often use Sorin's for business lunches or dinners, but we don't anymore, choosing Cafe Navarre instead. Service tonight was actually fine, but in other recent visits it's been ridiculously slow and inattentive. And to top it off, many of their menu prices were 25% higher than advertised online. (One bright spot: the wine list isn't half bad.)
We have been patrons of Sorin's for many years and always enjoy the people, food & setting. However, the hostess who was on staff on the morning of Sunday February 11, 2018 was probably the worst hostesses I have every expienced. She was rude, dismissive, ignored our requests and lied about availability of our table. We will always return to Sorin's but hope the hostess will be replaced soon.
The food is okay, but most items listed in the online menu are not available, which doesn't make sense. Also, another fact I didn't like was the purpose for my husband and I went to have a decent dinner was celebrating our anniversary and we were there earlier than another big group of about 5-6 people, but they were arranged just sit next to us (no other people were in the restaurant and plenty of tables available), they were kind of loud and made us feel hardly hear each other when we chatted. Our overall experience was much lower than expected.
My friend and I received excellent service by Petra!
As always, Leslie and Diane, the two hostesses were very accommodating, especially when our reservation went from four people to five people, and then quickly back to four people because of one person's cancellation because of sudden illness. Later during our visit, these two hostesses were terribly patient, when a party of 30-40 adults, making a last--minute reservation -- and mostly grade school age children were seated on the upper level, and suddenly decided that they preferred to dine in Rohr's Tavern, another dining option in The Morris Inn. And, suddenly got up and walked out. Ugh. There is an excellent baby kale salad on the brunch menu, which is a favorite of vegetarians. However, lately, more mature kale leaves are ending up in this salad, without their long stems being removed. Making for a less attractive salad. We continue to hope that the servers and bus people could be trained not to remove plates until all guests have completed their meals. A sign of an excellent fine dining restaurant.
this is our fifth or sixth new Years eve at Sorins and it was enjoyed by all.
We had dinner there on New Year's Eve, while the food was excellent, the service and atmosphere would best be described as aqueduct. I really expected more from a high end restaurant. It should also be noted that the weather outside was very cold, near zero, leading to the temperature in the restaurant as also being very cool which led to the food being very cool by the time we finished.
We also had breakfast there the following morning, on New Year's Day with a much less that satisfactory experience. The food was good, not great and the service was very lacking, this came not only from us but others around us who were complaining about how slow it was to get the most basic of meals. Again you would expect more from a high end restaurant.
Went for Christmass Brunch. Everything was great!
Highly recommend this for special occasions.
First Class in every way and reasonable prices. Seats are very comfortable and ambience is quiet and clean
Service was slow, food was not hot but warm, and presentation was pathetic.
Excellent as always! Wonderful food, good service and attention to detail is apparent!
Great atmosphere with elegant decore, food was excellent
The restaurant seemed to be busier than usual for a Sunday morning, with a couple of large, family groups. However, our server Diane kindly suggested that she take our orders as soon as we were ready, because of the anticipated wait, once the large parties began ordering. A great suggestion. And, even though we arrived earlier than normal for a Sunday, and received the breakfast, rather than the brunch, menus, our server and the kitchen staff kindly honored our requests for brunch items.
It was the Holiday Season and South Bend had a six-inch snowfall. Lovely window winter scenes. This place will be impossible to get reservations at certain University of Notre Dame events, but our Saturday night in early December was quite comfortable, and the food was great.
Nestled in the Morris Inn on the beautiful campus of Notre Dame, Sorin's delivers in every category. Food is consistently excellent and the wait staff is superior, especially Juan. Highly recommend.
Good for a hotel restaurant, especially in South Bend. We had a very good server.
We took a visiting job candidate for breakfast. It was excellent......lots of creative choices and was much enjoyed by all who attended. Thanks!
Only two tables in the place the whole night and it took 1.25 hours to get our food which was ice cold, and I ordered a rare steak and got well done.
Delightful ambience and excellent food in the lovely Morris Inn in the middle of Notre Dame campus. Valet parking is a godsend on this parking deficient campus.
Have dined at Sorin's many, many times since the 1960’s. It has been beautifully updated but the food and service quality has gone down as the food prices have risen considerably. Undercooked yet dry chicken breast, nicely cooked but unseasoned salmon, pumpkin “risotto” was more of a bland rice pudding on this occasion. Entrees are served with no accompaniment with extra charges for any side dish or sauce under the guise of tailoring your own meal. We were disappointed in what was once a favorite place to dine.
I have never had a bad meal or bad experience at Sorin as I visit at least once a
year during the football season (twice this year). As an exception, this night the
service was very slow and I was pleased that it was noticed and a drink on the
house was offered and accepted.
Quality food and service at Notre Dame - very nice alternative to more noisy and crowded options. We clebrated our daughter's birthday at brunch on Sunday after mass at the Basilica. Service was really smooth, thoughful and efficient. Sorin's is always a good choice.
