Have dined at Sorin's many, many times since the 1960’s. It has been beautifully updated but the food and service quality has gone down as the food prices have risen considerably. Undercooked yet dry chicken breast, nicely cooked but unseasoned salmon, pumpkin “risotto” was more of a bland rice pudding on this occasion. Entrees are served with no accompaniment with extra charges for any side dish or sauce under the guise of tailoring your own meal. We were disappointed in what was once a favorite place to dine.
I have never had a bad meal or bad experience at Sorin as I visit at least once a
year during the football season (twice this year). As an exception, this night the
service was very slow and I was pleased that it was noticed and a drink on the
house was offered and accepted.
Quality food and service at Notre Dame - very nice alternative to more noisy and crowded options. We clebrated our daughter's birthday at brunch on Sunday after mass at the Basilica. Service was really smooth, thoughful and efficient. Sorin's is always a good choice.
At Sorin's service could be better; servers rarely refill water glasses, and they are slow. The bigger problem is that, while the menu is appropriate for 40 years ago, Sorin's has not kept up with the times. It still assumes that people want to eat grease in everything, eat lots of red meat, and eat oily/greasy vegetables. The breakfast options are especially unhealthy, except for the oatmeal. Sorin's chefs should ensure that half the menu, at least, has nearly oil-free, very fresh options, that one finds daily in California or New York. it is embarrassing to bring sophisticated ND guests to Sorin's.
Had diner at Sorins on a Tuesday evening There were 3 other tables with seating besides us. The rest of the hotel restaurant was empty. There were 3-4 servers in the dining room. Servers were delightfully pleasant,, however timing was horrible. Our server did not bring our first drink order for over 20 minutes, timing between other courses took that long if not more. When our entree arrive they were literally at room temperature. Can't imagine what the problem was but getting fish, lobster and filets virtually cold was a great disappointment. We spoke to the manager who offered us free dessert which also took a very long time to get to our table. The Sous Chef came out and apologized, but gave no explanation as to the reason for cold plate delivery. My guess is that the kitchen was very understaffed, probably the souz chef was doing all the cooking and he just couldn't manage timely deliveries of food. I will say that although not hot our dinners were delicious, but service disappointment will certainly make us rethink returning to this restaurant during the week, maybe weekends are staffed better.

We found the inside to be very bright .. part of the reason was it was still light out at 8 but even when the sun went down the lighting seemed more appropriate for a cafeteria than a high end restaurant.
The wine list was great and fairly priced although they did bring us the wrong wine the first time, this was quickly corrected.
We will go back because it's convenient and good but I do think this restaurant could be even better by working a bit on the ambience .
It was a pleasure to have dinner and actually be able to converse. For me, a low noise level is essential. Also, on the two occasions I dined there, the hostess welcomed us with a smile, and the and servers were prompt, attentive and pleasant. Service with a smile is always noticed and appreciated. Thank you for providing such a fine experience. Oh, and the food was delicious!!
We were at Notre Dame for a wedding and just did not want to go far for dinner the prior evening. Boy, did we pick right. Best Haddock dish I have had since fresh in Seattle, Wa. And the Dover Sole that my wife had......YUM.
The lobster mashed potatoes on the side. And the mushrooms roasted with garlic and rosemary.......wonderful
