What a bad experience! Average service, poor food quality, short wine list...
Always greeted warmly and given a great table overlooking the ocean. Half price wine bottles from 6-7pm! Food is excellently prepared and presented. The 12 oz. lobster dish is huge; had enough leftovers for 2 days! The vegetarian selection is magnificent. Coconut sherbet is divinely rich; lemon semi-freddo is light and just the right sweet touch. Looking forward to going back!
We had dinner at Sorce several nights while on vacation in Vieques and I have to say the experience was amazing. It's ocean side dining at its best. We ended up getting the same server (Nanad) every time we went and he was funny and very knowledgable. He even gave us tips about which beaches we should visit while on the island. We'll definitely be back to enjoy the food and ocean views.
Friendly and knowledgeable service. Waiter from Vieques. Discussed the island and various dishes. Food was delicious starting with a warm cranberry roll and very fresh butter, to a mouth watering Mahi Mahi Cerviche (accompanied by a serving of sweet potato to balance it out) and finally an amazing Churrasco steak filet (I had this on 2 nights it was so delicious). The steak was served just right (medium rare) along with a small crock of perfectly cooked beans, rice and onions. I'm not sure what flavoring was used on the onions but they had a mild curry flavor and were a perfect compliment to the Churrasco. The restaurant manager and the General Manager of the Resort checked in with me during my meal to make sure that I was content.
Can't wait for my next visit to this beautiful and relaxing resort and restaurant.
My fiance and I celebrated my birthday at Sorce and it was the best! The service was outstanding, the waitress was very professional and friendly and the manager made me feel very special. They really took the time to make our night perfect! The atmosphere was very romantic and the view breath taking. I would highly recommend Sorce to anyone looking for a special night in Vieques!
Excellent service, food and atmosphere! We would highly recommend Source to anyone visiting Vieques. The waitstaff were top notch (I wish I could recall names!!)attending to our every need and making the family gathering an elegant experience. The staff are very familiar with the menu and gave great suggestions. We started with happy hour in the outdoor, ocean view lounge area where wine was just $5. We were treated to local fare with yucca chips and a taste test from the chef of a evening menu item. Nice touch! A complimentary cocktail was shared at sunset! Really great surprise! The teenagers played pool while the adults lingered and visited outdoors. Great photo spots and the fire pit was popular with other guests. We tried shrimp Mofongo, the bacon wrapped chicken, churrasco(perfectly prepared). Delicious and plenty of food! We took leftovers. The rolls were even special-olive, sesame, cranberry-all fresh and warm and they kept coming while we waited for our meal. Everything was perfect for our party of 6. Thank you and we made this breakfast reservation as a result of our great first night experience! Breakfast was also to die for. Views, waves, passion fruit mimosas! Don't miss the guava pancakes, Crab Benedict or banana bread French toast. Once again the food and service were excellent. Way to go W Vieques! We will definitely make multiple stops here for food and ambiance when in Vieques! We are even looking at a long weekend stay at the resort next time!
The vibe at the W is super cool and way different from every other spot on the island. It's definitely far more fancy than other restaurants. The food was really good and they had excellent service there. It's on the more expensive side, but we ate at other more expensive restaurants as well. The cocktails were great. Cool spot to go and hang out for a couple drinks after dinner.
Beautiful ambiance! Mediocre food. Really poor service. Had breakfast twice, dinner twice, early evening food at the bar once, and late night food & drinks once... so they had many opportunities yet failed in the service area every single time. Most of the time, they weren't busy either, so I'm not sure what caused the extremely slow service repeatedly. Example: dinner coming out an hour and half later, with only 3 tables occupied, and couples at each table. Everyone was very nice though.
Food and service is excellent! Our servers Joel and Yanuel made our experience even better. They were very helpful, sweet and personable. We dined here more often throughout our vacation not only for its convenient location since its located right on the hotel grounds but because of its very professional service and unique flavor combinations.
Our past experience had not been good but we were told that the restaurant had a new chef so we decided to give it a second chance. And it was well worth it. The ambiance at the W is spectacular, outside dining at its best. Two appetizers and a main dish of churrasco were excellent choices. The tuna/melon starter was delicious. But dining has to be preceded by a drink at the lobby bar and we recommend a rum cocktail with Don Q rum, champagne and mint.
The highlight of dining here was the grounds. You get ocean views from the open air dining. The grounds have iguanas. Of course, the hotel is ultra expensive, but we did not stay here. The food was good, but not great & not worth the money. El Quenepo was much better, had a better mufungo & had better vegetarian options. That is not to say anything was bad in particular, but when you pay this kind of money, you expect better.
Firstly, the staff is wonderful. Our server spent more than the usual or expected amount of time going over the menu and answering any questions. The manager came to our table more than once to ask how we were enjoying ourselves and really spoke to us. The food and the details did not, however, live up to the hopes I had for a menu that reads very well or the expectations I would have of the W. The ambiance would have been delightful with the funky decor and crashing waves but was completely obliterated by the loud and obnoxious pop music being played at the wedding reception in an adjoining room,
The reputation of Sorce around town was not good, however I found that these folks are sadly mistaken! We had a fabulous meal, best meal in Vieques. My husband and I tried to eat the local fare all week long & were very disappointed with the infamous "mofungas" ~ (pass!). We went to Sorce despite what their reputation was. We were celebrating our anniversary & we were warmly greater with champagne. We shared the beef empanadas for an appetizer & the filet for dinner. It was cooked to perfection on top of mashed potatoes with a delicious Demi glaze & the steak was topped with fresh arugula. I wish I could of eaten more. Plus the ambiance is over the top phenomenal ! Outside on the patio, nice breeze, no bugs. Again it was AWESOME!
As good as Mix on the Beach was during the period of Alain Ducasse's involvement, Sorce is now a terrible disappointment. The food is mediocre at best and the service is terrible. Any why does the list of featured cocktails include several rum drinks that require mint (e.g. Mojitos) when the bar never has mint? I'm hard pressed to recommend the restaurant to anyone who isn't already stuck at the W Hotel. For less money, you can get a much better meal at Noche, El Quenepo or Next Course.
My boyfriend and I visited the W in Vieques this past weekend. We had a fantastic time! The hotel, restaurant, and the staff across the board were fantastic. Everyone was so friendly! We ate at Sorce Friday night for dinner, Saturday for Brunch (what a bargain), Saturday night for dinner, and Monday for breakfast. We had a great experience every time. In addition, we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday on Saturday night. We had a wonderful dinner at Sorce and while we were having dinner the hotel/resturant helped me arrange to have our room set-up with rose petals, champagne, fresh fruit and a bubble bath. We would highly recommend visiting the W Vieques and dining at Sorce!
We ate at Sorce last year while visiting the island. We weren't that impressed, but we wanted to give it another try. Well, we will not be going back for a third time. While the atmosphere is hip and relaxing, the food just isn't worth the money. Our waiter was great and very educated on the menu, so was nice to see. Overall, nothing really on the menu wowed us.
