We had a wonderful meal. My husband had the lamp chops and said they were superb; our friend got pasta special and said it was wonderful.....in fact he wrote me later to say how much he enjoyed the meal (and I thought it was my charm)., I had the mussels and thought they could have used more garlic....I like really garlicky mussels so these may have been fine with those who don’t want as much. The service was great....would definitely go back again!
Truly not one to complain but this place is horrible! Ordered martini - was made to “their” recipe with cava juice or something. No offer to make the reg way. No bread or salad to go with dinner. Catfish tough; pork chop cooked to death. Music playing was loud and many songs from the movie Rocky. A Bistro?? No way. Horrible. McDonalds does better.
Fantastic food and it was so awesome to sit outside - the bolognese is divine! Service was mediocre at best but would go back for that dish whenever in Lake Geneva.
Good food and service. Should have sat inside. Table outside was right on the street and very loud. The table inside available for our reservation was tiny so opted for outside. Server was great.
The food and drinks are outstanding. Great service and the space is simple.
We had salmon and duck for dinner and it did not disappoint. Both dishes were very good and we enjoyed our meal.
The drinks were wonderful also.
This is one of the best restaurants in Lake Geneva and highly recommended.
Food was outstanding but service was below expectations
The food and service was awful. We mentioned that it was our anniversary in the reservation and they stuck us in corner table near the restroom. Would not recommend going there.
We had a wonderful time. Due to the Covid we sat outside and people watched. The food was outstanding the drinks were no bueno.
We will definitely try it again.
Our waitress Michelle was absolutely awesome. This was our first time to lake geneva and we are so glad we picked here to dine.
We sat outside and have a beautiful sunset view of the town! Food was amazing and staff was considerate, still offered dessert even though it was almost passed close.
Service was excellent and staff really went above and beyond in ensuring we had a great experience.
Another great Tuesday night out at Sopra. My wife and I both loved the Caprese appetizer and Catfisish entree. Service and drinks were on par with any upscale restaurant. Recommend getting a reservation, calling in last minute is difficult.
This little gem is fabulous!! I was relieved to see they were taking COVID-19 safety precautions. Tables were spaced out. Outdoor seating. Thorough cleaning measures. Masks. It allowed us to relax at dinner. We sat outside and it was just charming. We ate tuna tartar for our appetizer and the lamb chops and seafood gnocchi special for dinner. Finished off with the pistachio chocolate desert. It was all delicious. Cocktails were great. Service was fabulous. Our server was very sweet. Very much recommend this place.
Amazing food and drinks
No bread at table due to COVID-19, but menus were being reused. Prices were not adjusted for lack of availability of normal items like this. Water was warm. No refills. Waiter was hard to understand, especially with mask on. He did not check on us until we were more than halfway done.
I will stick with Cafe Calamari.
Dined here on a Tuesday night. We split an order of grilled octopus and it was great. We've had calamari, but never octopus. Served on a bed of greens, this went over very well. My entree was the pork chop special. Not your typical pork chop, it was yuge. Reminiscent of one of those tomahawk rib eyes. It was cooked just right. My wife had the buccolini pasta special. Very nice pesto with fresh basil flavors and she really liked it. The service was very good too. We will be back.
It was a birthday dinner and while we were wished a happy birthday on a number of occasions, there was zero special treatment. For a meal that costs > $200 for a couple, I would expect the least they can do is bring a simple birthday dessert to let the guests know they are appreciated. We will not be returning to this establishment.
We ordered Catfish and it wasn't very good. We told the Service Person but nothing was done.
Everything about Sopra is excellent....food, drink, service. We have dinner here every time we're in Lake Geneva. Sopra never disappoints.
Wonderful food. Amazing pasta. We had the linguine with shrimp and the gnocchi. Both were fantastic as were our cocktails. Service was top-notch. Very friendly atmosphere.
First time dining and will definitely go back!! The service, food, social distancing practice was all excellent!!
There were only three in our party. The restaurant was empty and the service was inattentive. The filet medallions (split with my daughter) were overcooked and did make a new dish but the timing of our meal was off for all to enjoy simultaneously. The bill was $250 without tip. Definitely overpriced for Lake Geneva.
When Sopra first opened 10 or so years ago the food was outstanding. This was exceedingly disappointing, as if the food was made by children, pasta was obviously cooked days before, zero flavor or love to any of the food. Garbage vacation food, no care or thought. Let alone for the price...expect nothing and you won’t be disappointed ☹️
Really terrible food. Overcooked, over-salted pasta. No balance in flavors whatsoever. All I ordered was a simple pasta dish that should have been so easy to make.
They were out of the lobster wonton appetizer , my husband ordered the seafood gnocchi which was good. I ordered scallops - which my server brought me salmon instead - then when the scallops were brought to me they were cold - she brought them back reheated but husband was done before I even got my dinner. No manager came to check on us through this - a short apology was it. Coffee was not good
Outdoor seating available and servers are wearing masks - felt pretty safe! Loved the caprese salad and goat cheese appetizers! Delicious scallops for my entree - cooked perfectly and wonderful sauce. Pork chop entree was also very good. Great service. Book ahead for outdoor table (only about 5). Very good and I would recommend!
We used to adore this restaurant, but we had a disappointing experience - from watching a waiter pull a hair out of a dish a customer sent back and giving it back to them, to over cooked sword fish, and salmon that two people in our party got sick from. The food used to be inventive and well executed and that was not our overall experience on this occasion. The two appetizers were wonderful, however the three mains we had were all very simple, which in and of itself is not bad, but they were overcooked and lacking flavor.
The food, the service and the ambiance were excellent
We went on Thursday for the half price bottle of wine special. They elected not to do that despite being offered on the website and also on a. wall poster in the restaurant.
We have come to truly enjoy the Sopra Bistro experience!
Our server was wonderful and the food was fabulous! The grilled octopus was the best ever!
Normally this is a good dining experience. However, the last couple times have been progressively worsening. This time it was generally not good and will be the last time we will eat there. I ordered a pork chop that was extremely dry and overcooked and the "potatoes and grilled cabbage" amounted to a half cup total. There was no flavor to my wife's pasta at all; we brought most home and ended up adding some brie to it for flavor. The chunks of bacon in it were almost entirely fat and connective tissue instead of meat. It took an hour and ten minutes to get our food. I used to recommend the place but I cant anymore...not after our last couple visits.
The food here was very good. We had the scallops and grilled octopus, both delicious.
However, the service was very poor. We had reservations at 8pm and were seated immediately. Drinks came pretty quickly, but the food took forever to come to the table. Even the appetizer (grilled olives) took 20 minutes to come out. They were not that busy, only a few tables inside were occupied. We probably waited an hour at least for the main courses to come out. And not once did the waitress ask us if we needed or anything or give us update on our food. If their service was better I would be giving a better review.
Octopus appetizer was very good. Catfish dinner served on fingerling potatoes in a potato salad like dressing was good but the fish was undercooked. Not sure why as the place wasn’t busy by the time we ordered.
Service was good, nothing exceptional.
This is our second visit and exceptional food service and atmosphere
Fabulous flavors for all entrées and appetizers ( and special cocktails) Best duck I’ve had since leaving New England. Rave Reviews for the salmon and grilled octopus. Chef does not disappoint. First in-restaurant dining for us since COVID-19. I was surprised the hostess and servers weren’t wearing masks but they did a good job of separating tables so it felt safe. Warm, welcoming and helpful service overall. Sorry Medusa, Sopra has my number one vote.
Lovely staff - very friendly! The food was amazing!
The restaurant was nice but we had to send the octopus back twice. The first time it was charred burnt crispy. The second time it was raw. The third time it was just right. My scallop entree was tasty good. The waitress was indifferent about our food. She projected that she didn't want to be there. I'll go back and give them another try because I think my daughter would love their pasta dishes.
We had come here before and chose it for a birthday dinner because of such a great experience the first time we were there. This time was different. The main course was average and didn’t have a lot of flavor. We got the duck and the pork. We got olives for an appetizer and although the taste was good, many of the olives were very tiny and difficult to eat. The lobster wontons were very good and the sauce was delicious. We also got a chop salad which was flavorful.
The main issue was that when we ordered our appetizers we were told that we had to also order the rest of our meal at that time. When we dine out we like to take our time and enjoy ourselves and relax and after we eat our appetizers and salad than we like to decide what to have for our entrée based on how full we are and what sounds good for our next course. We were told that the chef doesn’t do it that way. We were told that he requires that the entire order replaced at the beginning. We weren’t thrilled about this but went ahead and ordered our entire meal. We told the server that we were concerned that we might be rushed if we placed our order all at once. She assured us that she would pave the meal for us.
We received both of our appetizers and our salad all at the same time. We weren’t happy that the appetizers and salad were not brought separately but we went ahead and started eating. When we were not even halfway through with those items or meals were delivered by someone other than our server. When our server came by we told her that we weren’t anywhere near ready for our entrees and reminded her that she said she would pace the meal for us to have a relaxing night.
We always tip extremely well and this night we tipped just 20% because we were rushed. Dining isn’t just about food it’s about the experience for us. We don’t think we will return
