Good food and ambience
Great evening overall!
Attentive knowledgeable server, mussels with truffle oil fries are to die for. Half price wine night is totally worth it. Try an expensive wine! Trout is very good, scallops excellent. Had duck last year, going back to duck next time.
A bit noisy the food was very good as was the service
Sopra Bistro was very disappointing. For the price point of the menu I would have expected better quality overall. I ordered some pasta and the noodles were over done, it was bland, and was $28. I ordered a whiskey smash and the bartender was not able to make it for me? That's a pretty basic standard cocktail. So I ordered one off the menu that tasted artificial and on point with what one might expect from an Applebees. Lake Geneva is a lovely place, but the food scene is severely lacking.
The presentation was lovely and both appetizers and entrees contained an excellent variety of seasonings. The servers were extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine offerings and checked with us to see how things were. We’ll definitely be going back.
7:30 received drinks and bread
8:40 main entrees
We love the food. We love their wine list. GREAT space and location. However...understaffed and LOUD!! Our waiter was great, but food delivery was slooow! Obviously the fault of the kitchen, but this is the 2nd time we've eaten here and the experience was the same.
We have dined here several times over the years and enjoyed it then. This time, service was very slow and food was overall okay. Lobster Rangoon was very good and so was duck. Pastas were average but server was quite disengaged, not genuine and did not provide good service. It took an hour to get our meal after ordering all courses at one time. It was quite loud also.
Food and service were both exceptional, as usual. Noise level was incredibly excessive and made it difficult to communicate with my date who was directly across from me.
Cute, cozy atmosphere. It was a busy Friday evening, so I was glad they sat us upstairs at a window seat. I would request that next time, as it was much quieter up there. Had the Ceasar Salad for Appetizer to share, large portion & tasty. Would be good as a meal too, w/Fish or Chicken on top. Ahi Tuna App was also good. Had the Gnocchi w/Chicken & unfortunately disappointed. Lots of Gnocchi, w/rich creme sauce, very little Chicken. Others had the Salmon & Pappardelle & said it was delicious. Would definetely go bk for another try.
Everything about this restaurant is exceptional! We highly recommend it for any occasion!
The pasta was significantly overcooked. The trout had a whole plant of Tyme on it - too much. Getting the first round of drinks was way too slow. We didn't eat about 1/3 of the food ordered. Bread was good.
The food and service were amazing. The absolute best restaurant in Lake Geneva.
This is a great place to dine. We had a wonderful experience joined by another couple. Service did take a little longer than expected, though we were informed by Grant of this upon ordering. Still enjoyable.
Way too loud, Way too long waiting for food, Food was fair, not as good as previously.
Food was very good. I had the duck. Service could have been better. Never offered a refill of our drinks. Even getting water took time.
Server was hustling but the kitchen and bar was slammed. Food was excellent.
Waited 30 mins never got our food. Walked out. What a joke.
The food was amazing ! The downstairs is a little loud but upstairs is much quieter.
They have private rooms to so make reservations great place!
We encountered the most rude server I've ever had my entire life! We tipped him a little more than 15% for very average service. He showed incredible disrespect asking us if everything was okay because he thought the tip should be higher. That was so rude, disrespectful, and inappropriate - he should be let go immediately, in my opinion. It's not okay to treat customers that way!
Menu was diverse and appealing. Service was great. They allowed for a leisurely pace not rushed. Had a wonderful bottle of wine, half off on thursdays what a deal. Tables are open and close together so not much privacy for conversation. Food was excellent.
A nice dinner as a reward for my daughter’s good grades at college.
We've been here about 8 times and always had a great meal. We come here every time we stay in lake Geneva. Would recommend this place to anyone. A bit pricey but not out of line with other places locally.
Great lunch spot. Very open and busy. Extensive appetizer list that could be dinner. Large portions. Linguine with tiger shrimp was excellent. Would definitely return.
Beet salad was great, could've used more balsamic though. Sturgeon was fantastic! Definitely would go again! Waitress was very good too! Thank you!:)
Loved everything we ate and server was an absolute pleasure!
We love coming to Sopra - it’s actually topped out as once of a fav dining spots in Lake Geneva - it was a little too loud this past weekend but hey it’s the summer and I love seeing our local businesses do so well! Food was amazing as usual! 🥰🥰
The service was good, but the food and environment were lacking.
We were seated in the upstairs area which was very open and loud. As there were a few large parties occupying the space we had a hard time hearing each other.
The food was just ok and because of that, was not a good value. For the money we paid, I expected much higher quality. The cuisine itself was just kind of weird. It was a fusion of Asian and Italian which didn’t work very well. I love both independently but not together.
Celebrating a birthday. Food was awesome. Waitress average hard to hear over loud background noise and she spoke so quickly. We ordered 2 apps and a couple specials the Rockfish and scallops. All our food was great! It is rather pricey and a very loud venue. It would be good with a larger group of people. Not intimate dining.
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Not a lot of high quality food options in Lake Geneva, but this place exceeded my expectations. Strongly recommend the trout.
My husband says best Salmon he’s ever eaten. I had the Scallops. They were very good. Tasted fr she cooked perfectly, not over cooked or undercooked
Food was o.k. server was fantastic. Answered all our questions.
Sat us upstairs first but no atmosphere up there. Would suggest soft music up there
This was a fun little surprise in Lake Geneva. I recommend it highly, in the downtown area and walking distance from hotel. Our server was delightful and food was innovative and delish. Lobster wontons a treat and the artichoke special appetizer was very tasty. The scallops for the main dish were plentiful and fresh. Atmosphere reminded me of a chic Chicago restaurant tucked in at Lake Geneva. Place got busy quickly so get a reservation.
Love the food and the creativity of the menu ! This is a lovely place to celebrate , go on a date , and just enjoy
Very good food. Our waitress was nice, but needs some more training.
We had visited this restaurant a few years ago, really enjoyed it, and hoped for a repeat experience. Three of the four at our table ordered the rigatoni bolognese and what was served wasn't REMOTELY close to a bolognese sauce. Further, it was so spicy that one person gave up on it, I sent mine back for a replacement dish, and the other person stuck it out through half of it and then gave up. We had what seemed to be a new wait person who didn't seem to be getting much support from the rest of the team. Our reservation was for 7:30pm and we left at 9pm. Around 8:45pm the music was turned up REALLY loud and when I turned to exit the restaurant we were the only people left in the place. It appeared that the music got cranked up so we would leave. The average price of an entree is about $25.00 and we didn't receive and experience that was commensurate with that pricing.
Service was attentive but not overbearing! Food was delicious- the Trout with gnocchi was out of this world! You can’t go wrong with any of the pastas and cocktails were refreshing! We will be back!!
We visit the Lake Geneva area each summer, and try to have dinner at Sopra, as our experience has been wonderful each time. Once again, we had a wonderful meal. Unfortunately, it was nearly ruined by our server. It began somewhat innocently as we were not asked about the reason we had chosen to be there that night, the celebration of our daughter and future son in law's recent engagement. It wasn't that big of a deal on it's own, but if the question is on the online reservation then I believe it deserves acknowledging. The 6 of us were fortunate to be seated at the front of the house next to the full length windows, but 2 of us were facing directly into the setting sun. As we were getting settled and discussing the blinding glare, Kathy stood at the table and did absolutely nothing to partially lower the shades. Thankfully, the lovely people also sitting by the windows noticed our problem and lowered the shade for us as she walked away to get our drinks. The rest of her service was along the same line of indifference the rest of the night. But the ultimate reason for this poor service review is that when it came time to order we asked about their specials for evening. To which Kathy replied, "Well, there are a lot of them and there's too many for me to tell you about. They're written on the board back there." Really? We all need to walk to the back of the restaurant and read your specials, or maybe just one of us needs to walk back and relay that information on to the rest of the table? Wait, isn't that a reason we have a server? I've never been told that in a diner, let alone a very upscale and relatively expensive ($400 that night) bistro. To be fair, I'm not sure it's all her fault for this. Sopra has nice specials. I think there's technology available to print out a daily list of the featured items. And, if they don't require the servers to know those specials, then it's not Kathy's fault, per se. We'll return. Just a disappointing night.
Loved, the food, service, etc. but really dislike the very small two top tables. This was our second time eating at Sopra but probably our last because of the tables.
