Sophia's Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
We were there a couple years ago and the prices were more reasonable and the food was outstanding but thus time we were disappointed. We know people r sharing more but $9 seems unreasonable . Probably won’t return for awhile unless we hear from friends that it is outstanding again. The calamari had no taste. However chicken cacciatore was ok. Sorry p
Upon arrival the host was not happy to be there and seemed annoyed. His interest was not the customer for sure. They ran out of sparkling water, the ginger was flat with no apology. Service was very slow. The food was good. I would not return nor recommend this restaurant
As is the usual case the food was wonderful as was the service. Sophia’s is one off our favorite restaurants in town and we are locals for almost 30 years. The only distraction was the table next to us had a loud opinionated bore who dominated the conversation and noise around our area.
Our waiter (Cale) had the affect of a piece of kale. He appeared put out when I presented him with the $25 birthday coupon I wanted to apply to our dinner bill telling me he’d accept it at end of meal but these are mostly used in the summer/ off season. My birthday is in October & the coupon was valid until 12/31. We came for the eggplant & after our order was placed & we declined the bottle of wine on that table Cale returned to the table to tell me bad news the eggplant would not be ready for another hour and proceeded to up-sell me the $40 fish dish that sounded better than it tasted. My husband requested more bread with his dinner which arrived after his last bite of lasagna & my left overs were thrown away.
Cale ended up having the chef cook another small serving of the pasta that accompanied my fish dish to go but didn’t tell us this until we sat & sat & sat. By that time, he definitely would’ve scored a better tip if he had brought me a small piece of the eggplant we came for to go. Just overall, service nothing special, prices high. Best party of the meal was the nice fresh house salad that came with the entree.
We are never disappointed at Sophia's Ristorante. We went on Christmas Eve and our meal was fabulous! The specialty Veal Chops are devine! I had the Veal Piccata and my husband had the Veal Marsala! Fabulous! Sophia's even offered Feast of the 7 Fishes in honor of Christmas Eve, but we were hungry for meat! Entertainment was also provided by an accordion player who was excellent! Superb Evening!
Food was fine, portions very large. When it was time for drink order, we were informed that they only had one beer. Not one brand...but 1 bottle! Our guests wanted to order a beer and none was available. I have never experienced this before. It set a bad tone for the evening.
Too many other fine restaurants in Naples . We will not go back.
Extensive menu....hard to review as chatting with friends...chose special offered. Chicken parm was tender, sauce seemed dried on under moist cheese...shrimp good but lime basil sauce didn't mix for me with red sauces...al dente ravioli.....
We sat for a long time, chatted and shared 2 bottles wine but waitress finished 2 nd bottle into one glass....should have offered splash to others.
Service was great otherwise! Will return!
This was our 3rd time here and we must have caught the chef on an off night. One of the dishes we ordered (Chicken Cacciatore) was not very good, too much of an herb (I think it was Oregano). We had to send it back. What annoyed me the most was the Manager did not come to the table to apologize or offer a solution. He left that up to the waiter. She did offer to substitute the dinner but my wife declined. Of course it was taken off the bill. With that said we have enjoyed Sophia's before and will try them again.
